What’s the biggest regulation on trucking coming out of the DOT? 🤨
Vice President of the Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association, Lewie Pugh, says it’s SPEED LIMITERS! 🚨
Limiting a trucks speed takes away the efficiency of moving goods through our nations supply chain. It creates unsafe roads with differing speeds between cars and trucks, increasing vehicle interactions.
Slowing trucks down to 60 mph means we’ll need to INCREASE the number of trucks on the road in order to move the same amount of freight.
Truckers are some of the hardest workers out there carrying our goods across the country so we can have food on the table and clothes on our backs.
Without trucks, everything STOPS. 🚛
📲 Go to fightingfortru... and tell your Lawmakers to sign the DRIVE Act to stop the FMCSA’s Speed Limiter Mandate!

Slow down cars then. Because most accidents involving cars and semis are the cars fault and we should also make a class for respecting semis on the road

It's information says car's cause 70% of accidents with trucks. Car's don't want to be behind a truck so they race out from behind a truck then cut trucks off by pulling in front of them. FMCSA is in chaots with congressmen that basiclly work for the major truck companies who pay them off to make regulations against small carriers. The reason is the big Carrier's are constantly hiring new people to train to drive so as to keep the pay way down. And this in part is what cause accidents as well!!!!! There are millions of experianced drivers that won't drive because the job pays crap pay. Again the big carriers keep pay way down with inexperienced drivers.

While i'm against them issuing a federal speed limit on trucks, if it is at 60 it won't actually cause trucks to lose miles. On a good day we average only 55- 60 mph even though our trucks are governed by our company from 65-68 mph, and we get anywhere from 450-550 miles a day in 8-9 hours. The main problem it will cause is that the trucks will be in the way of cars that can go the 70 speed limit.

I run a consistent 650 to 700 a day. West coast running mostly though.

Overall only speed issues in Ca & less benefit for truckers in Ca. How come there is no rule for truck driver pay rates. Most drivers are suffering from truck companies and brokers.

I can just imagine the convoys across the USA 😂 1,000 trucks all in a row because they can't pass each other. So how is the fscma gonna align the no convoy laws with the speed limiter? All I see is a buttload of congestion, higher crash & fatality rates, supply chain issues, & a shitload of road rage.

Ttucks have been limited in Australia at 100 kmh or 62 mph for over 30 years and works just fine. You all make too big deal out of it. If they decide to bring it in they will bring it in and nobody will be able to do anything about it. Just like the ELD's .... J

His logic is that speeding in an 80,000 lb truck is safer than driving at a speed where the trucks brakes can actually stop the truck. BRILLIANT! Never mind speed limiters, bring on the self driving trucks.

No, his logic is if the speed limit is 75, on a two lane highway, and the trucks are only able to go 60, the trucks will have a way more difficult time to get over so they can allow other trucks/cars to get onto the highway, or to get over to allow vehicles on the shoulder to have more room. Not to mention, if there is a hazard, the speed difference will make it that much harder to switch lanes to avoid said hazard. Youll change your tone once you start getting cut off by trucks going 15mph slower or more than you are. You think trucks passing eachother going 68 congests traffic, just wait till theres forced limits lol. You have no idea.

No,not speeding, just being able to go the speed limit or close to it, being that most companies already govern their trucks from 64-68.

@@Zociety6477You don't get over to "let somebody in" and you certainly don't slow down for them. It's the law that merging traffic has to yield to the traffic already on the road. You hold your lane and your speed because if you slow down or slam on the brakes and practically stop in the middle of the road like some idiots do then you risk getting seriously rear-ended. If you move over then you give up your legal right of way position and if you hit somebody or they hit you then the legality of your right of way position comes into question, making it hard for you to not be found at fault. It is NOT your responsibility to make room for them to merge, it's their responsibility to find a safe place to merge. They can either speed up and get in front of you or slow down and get behind you, but unfortunately there are some entitled idiots out there that think you're supposed to get over for them and will run right beside you and try to push you over like a stupid doofus brain maniac, then they want to blow the horn at you, flip you the bird finger, and one of the biggest pet peeves of mine is when they get past you they cut right back over in front of you and slam on the brakes, thinking they're "getting you back" for not getting over for them, when all they're doing is showing how stupid and crazy they are and risking their life, especially if they do it to a truck.
