You might not think that one city could be both cheap and safe to live in. While countries like New Zealand and Switzerland top the safest countries in the world, so do tax-friendly countries like Georgia, which are much cheaper for expats and nomads.

Well.... some of those countries wouldn't be on my list. Belarus ....is anything else than safe. People are fleeing the country for their own safety. It's ridiculouse to come with such a suggestion. Then North Korea would be a paradise of safe with that kind of "logic". Georgia and Armenia are beautiful and interesting but the traffic is horrible. They drive as if they are on a suicide mission. If that is not a worry for you...well.... then go there. On the other hand is Turkey a very interesting country, safe and good food. Most of East-Europe is good. Try counties like Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Czechia, Croatia and Montenegro. Surprice yourself with finding beautiful cities in Transylvania(Romania), Bulgaria and Serbia. Not going to West-European countries because they are not cheap ...is a miss..... there are so much to see. Hence there are a lot of places/countries to travel to. I my self buy a one way flight ticket ...and then I'll see where I end up. Being flexible I think it is called. I've been to over 80 countries.... but since I'sm not a woman the experiences might be different for you..... That women travel solo around in the world is not unusual. Anyhow the most important luggage you carry with you is inside your head. I'm not that kind of traveller that goes to the cheapest and most comfortable place to get "most for my money". I travel to learn and to the more interesting places .....and there you must know what you are doing and have done your homework in advance... Good luck....

I lived in Tijuana for a total of 18 years. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT for a single woman. Moreso if you do not speak Spanish. You need to learn too many things, too quickly. If you have three or more women sharing a house, than it can be good. Three women is too many to attack at once. The police, like the U.S., are less than helpless. However, on the bright side, violent crimes against women are a little less frequent than in the U.S.

I spent a week in Georgia this summer (Tblisi). I was considering it as a possible future location. An expat was murdered while I was on my way over there, and several other murders of expats followed in the next months. I myself did not feel comfortable there, due to harassment, people trying to overcharge for services, being followed around when I was just trying to take a walk, and high prices. I was a bit disappointed with Georgia. I am not a fan but I am definitely considering Armenia and would like to see how it is there at some point in the future. Yes to Qatar. I lived there a few years ago. Tax free. Free healthcare. And very safe. If you come across any form of violence in Qatar, you must be the unluckiest person on the planet. Not quite cheap especially in terms of accommodation, education & luxury goods, but in terms of value for money, you’ll definitely get the bang for your buck for the basic necessities. Food is quite cheap even in hotels compared to other countries. Transportation is also reasonably priced. And you can definitely pursue hobbies like photography, or fitness or art, because these items are quite affordable. The only downside is, you’ll never be a citizen there.

I saw concentration camps, he built to keep women and children after their repatriation from German camps, until they died from starvation. One word of caution to anyone travelling to other parts of the world. I understand while talking about this topic of "cheap" or "inexpensive" etc. amongst fellow Westerners or people with means whom you identify with. However, be cautious about describing other people's countries or areas where they live as such. The reason many places are "cheap" to you is because they are NOT cheap to locals. Things are often priced on an economy of scale and what the standard living wage and labor rates are. Quite a few of those poeple are just getting by or possibly struggling to pull themselves and their family through the lower to middle classes.

The key is that as soon as you have a large influx of foreigners, esp Americans, the price of everything goes up. Paradise seems to be lost more often than its found, but little things like sanitation and roads can be pretty basic when you get off the beaten track. I laugh when I see people claiming that Phnom Penh is like the Bangkok they fell in love with 30 years ago but that's a take for another thread. Thanks for the vid.

Sao Paulo? One of the largest fleets of armored cars in the world per capita. Take this advice from a Brazilian now living in the US: avoid the metro areas of most state capitals and you'll be fine. I absolutely enjoy the content and I wanted to add a few points: the tagline of "50% tax in Western countries" applies to employees - not to businesses. if you want to keep what you earn you have to be self-employed and run your own business. All countries you mentioned as an alternative have very weak labor markets - they are not havens for employees looking for a job. Also, the pay scales are abysmal. However, running a business "from there" may make sense - depending on the business, logistics and the personal taste for risks ("beta"). Best thing to do is to visit the country multiple times and execute a simple plan: find a place to live (rent/own) or understand what it would take (speak to landlords), register a business (what is the bureaucracy like and the cost) and just enjoy the scenery and the people. You will ride on the kindness of strangers during this stage and you will like it. Based on the "feel", you can make next steps - or fold it and go where you are treated better. During the pandemic, a great first step is finding a country that will let you in because many won't :)

Digital nomad means you bring your work with you. You are not tied to location. So local tax rates for residents is clearly relevant. Owning a business there doesn't make you a digital nomad. It makes you a business owner in a particular country.

I like your presentations which are both informative and interesting. However, in my experience the factor which most determines whether you can live anywhere in the world is the availability of a long-term visa or residency status. Usually this involves having to deposit a relatively large amount of money in a bank situated in the country you want to live in. There are also likely to be other immigration requirements which can also be costly to acquire.

The safest or cheapest locations today is not guaranteed to be the safest or cheapest tomorrow. When I first settled in the UK, London was safer than New York. That is no longer the case. Crime in Oxford was rare. The grooming gangs shattered that. Helsingborg / Sweden felt safe. From what friends tell me that is no longer the case. The best defensive strategy (if one can afford it) is to have options to move about. What the world will look like in 10 years is anybody’s guess.

Visa situation in Thailand is workable if you have the money to put down for the deposit and have health insurance. Any of these places you can live ok with 1k. Not going out, simple life outside of major cities. For 2k a month, you can live an almost western life. Getting older I tried to settle down in places like; Philippines, Cuba, Hawaii, Australia, but eventually, I ended up in Thailand. By now I've been living here for just over 10 years. Life here is very nice, comfortable, and mostly problem-free. The main reason I like it here is that it enables you to combine all the benefits of a modern lifestyle with the tranquility and beauty of a tropical environment. Problems? Yes, but manageable. All in all, a very good place to live. Since we're all different in our priorities and expectations, it all comes down to finding a place that suits Your personal needs and demands.

I too loved the statement of : "If I had a government that took 1/2 of you income and spent it on stupid stuff then I would not want people to leave either." Well, for most common USA citizens like myself its about 20 to 25% of your income goes to taxes which leaves your meager pay check even more meager. While the foreign workers that you work with, so that your company does not have to pay more wages, doesn't shoulder anywhere near that 20 to 25% tax burden. If you start to get closer to $100,000 per year gross income then you have a 30 to 35% tax burden which leads many higher middle class citizens to work and earn less, because people work for their own benefit not to support their government. ( most elected officials earn. substantly more income by doubling as a lobbyist. Therefore, they no longer represent the populace ) Reguardless of ones income many of us think about ex-patrioting. Its not for the rich anymore.

China invaded Vietnam and failed. Taiwan is much stronger than Vietnam. And unlike Vietnam which is connected to China, Taiwan is separated from China by sea. We Taiwanese have been preparing for China's invasion for 71 years. We also have been preparing for China's virus for two decades, and the results are obvious.

@@ejchang9217thanks, Ej Chang! I hope these preparations keep Taiwan safe and free! Maybe again someday we'll even see Sun Yat-sen's portrait on the Tiananmen Gate tower. 中華民國萬歲 !

My father escaped from China to Taiwan in 1949 when the PRC was founded. He said he no longer wanted to live there for the rest of his life. He made his exodus, and he wanted to stay away from "Egypt" forever. The majority of the Chinese population supported the communists in 1949, and some of my father's relatives were killed by civilian mobs.

I just found your channel and find it very interesting. My observation is that some tubers like yours focus on the people who earn, maybe, $300,000 to $1,000,000+. My question is, how about those of us of average income, $75,000+ to $100,000+? A lot of us average people are looking for some change, real estate, safety, less taxes and asset protection. Thank you so much and I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos.

Almost astounding that you didn't even mention Portugal. Western Europe, western culture, as cheap as a lot of Eastern Europe, the safest country in the world that isn't an island, negligible xenophobia (which was not factored in for all other places mentioned), extremely tolerant and welcoming in general, English and other European languages widely spoken as a second language, quick, cheap and easy access to the US, the rest of Europe, Africa and South America, special tax regimes for foreigners moving in, great choice of climates...

We have had many instances in foreign countries... my wallet fell out of my pocket in Saigon in an Indian restaurant only for the waiter to chase me down the street to return it and a time in Guadalajara when a young waitress returned my rucksack full of video equipment... following a drunken lunch! Both refused a tip - in foreign countries sometimes you’re far safer than you think!

@@JA-vz1nl The country has definitely an interesting tax advantage and is EU. Bulgaria has a big PR problem. But the country and the capital Sofia is very nice to live in. All major cities have super-fast fiber internet. And the people are honest, friendly, non-violent, good friends. I am very glad I moved from Belgium, here real food, no stress, ... and an incredible value for money. /? Visit your friend there, you will enjoy Bulgaria and meet a friend, win=win.

Been a few times to Georgia - it’s really great there !! Open a company takes you 15-20 minutes. A bank account 5 minutes . It’s way cheaper then example Thailand ... and the standard of living is high - but the cost is super low ! Went with 12 guys drinking and eating for. 5 hours the bill was 200 usd - means 7 bottles of wodka , wine , beers , soft drinks and loads of food in a populair place

Just because something costs more does not necessarily mean quality. A good example is Reykjavik. Atrocious value.

Thailand is cheaper. But I would avoid both countries if you are looking for first world living standards. Going to a cheap and developed EU country ( Estonia, Slovenia, Poland etc) should be the best option
