I would be fine with the hosing if you at least would make it possible to connect (with ease) to other popular inlet and outlet types like lily pipes and other accessories.

I was about to order one but the reviews changed my mind.

So I bought just the gray tips that are on the ribbed fulvue hose, then I was able to splice in a inline heater. It's been working great, know leaks at all. Is this a bad idea or is it the solution you said fulvue was working on to be able to add things on?

Could Fluval make a quick disconnect power supply? That way one would not have to unplug and take the cord during maintenance. Also, yes. Please get rid of the grey tips. All black would look much better.

I bought one of the hose cleaners online to take care of the issue with gunk coming out my FX filters when turning them back on. Just clean them out once a year.

You're absolutely right! "Plastic" hosing will indeed kink easily when applied the same way as the fluval ribbed hosing over the edge of the aquarium rim or rimless tank. That's why it's best to use vinyl hose instead!

The ribbed hoses are very easy to work with and to route. Much easier than standard hose. I've never had a problem with them. Quick edit: Route and trim them with a little slack so they are not tight. Would like black not grey connectors also.

I can tell you from my own personal experience and buying choices, I've specifically not spent money on a fluvial canister because of the tubing choice. I have the spraybar kit. I use a powerhead with it. I would love to get a 407 (or 408 when that exists) for my 75G aquarium. There's a few main issues..... 1. Ribbed hosing is very likely used because it's either cheaper to produce in the end or it's purely used because of those rubber connections being "more user friendly". Just be honest about it, give us the opportunity to have normal tubing and use all the in line products. 2. Ribbed hosing vs. Tubing.... so you're trying to compare algae and debris buildup on a pump test but you're literally using a clear (light penetrating) product vs. One that reflects light and blocks that. They make black tubing. 3. I would argue the connector shown vs. "the other guys".... they are basically identical and both pretty close to 90 degree bends in and out of the tank. The difference is that most people want to use lilly pipes, which avoids this issue. 4. Ribs, depending on the quality of the plastic give the hose a stress point. Flat walled tubing avoids that. If someone accidentally crushed ribbed tubing, it's likely permanent damage, with a flat wall it's likely not. 5. You can buy different wall diameters for flat tubing to prevent the ability to kink. Python makes great clear tubing that doesn't kink easily and promotes good bend radius behavior.

Can you please address the issue of disconnecting the valves on FX4 and FX6. It’s extremely hard to disconnect. As a matter of fact I’m currently looking to replace my FX filters because of this situation.

I like the fluval ribbed hose, it’s strong and durable. That said the negatives outweigh the positives. 1. Fixed lengths can’t be cut to size. 2. Oversized bend clamps are cumbersome and aesthetically an eye sore. 3. As mentioned you can’t use 3rd party equipment, it has to be fluval. 4. The ribs naturally hold debris and are way harder to clean. 5. With ribs you restrict flow,it’s common sense, utility companies and domestic properties do not use ribbed pipes to supply water because of this as well as the effects of No4.

The kink-free aspect won me over. I’ll take functional over aesthetics. Collapsed vinyl tubing is so frustrating.

The collection of debris from tubes with the use of a net is normal o both types, though.

1. Two 90° bends going over the rim of a tank does not “significantly reduce flow” in any noticeable manner. I’ve tested this with an FX6 and using a stopwatch the amount of time it takes to fill a 5 gallon bucket showed no discernible difference. The tolerance would have been within human error using said stop watch. Your rim clamps have opportunity for improvement. 2. Ribbed hosing provides more surface for bacteria to grow. But it’s not clear, which is a plus so no light gets in. If you allowed both types of hose to accumulate stagnant water for a month and then rinsed them, the corrugated tubing would hands down have more CFUs and LALs in it. 3. I simply don’t believe the 3rd party “1% loss of flow after 7 years” please provide that data and test method. 4. All that stuff blows out because the corrugated tubing holds it until it gets air in the line… using a fishnet when you spend $400 on a filter is a pretty poor solution. 5. I do enjoy your products! Just don’t love the mixed messaging sent here for marketing purposes.

I agree with why it’s good. There is ways around to put inline equipment in, I have inline co2 on mine , might not be everyone’s choice though and I guess isn’t a straight easy fit. But you could just a thicker grey end( even if you have to add a sealer to the end of the ridged pipe before applying the grey end)that fits into the thread of the inline stuff and seals , so it’s the same as say normal 16/22mm pipe , or make a double connector, so one end the ridged pipe can go into and you can add normal pipe to the equipment. Or make inline products. Although most people who want Lilly pipes and hide equipment can just use clear hosing anyways then the pipe won’t go over the top of the tank.

The worst thing with the fluval hosing is the ridiculous grey rubber that looks terrible in the tank, why it's not black is ridiculous.

I want to shorten some of my hoses, and maybe include the Fluval Inline UV Clarifier. I have purchased additional Fluval collars. Do I need to glue them onto the ends of the ribbed hosing? If so, what glue should be used (rubber cement? silicone?) Or is it sufficient to just 'screw' them onto the ends?

The Fluval hosing is so noisy, how can you solve that?

Seems brittle to me, which is why I use surgical tubing. Also, I need to cut it - I only need 2 feet, and I'm not risking that. I have it connected to my overflow of my saltwater tank so I don't use the assembly in the tank.

Not met anyone who likes the ribbed hoses. It’s just another way to make money by forcing a product on the customer. I have a Fluval 307 and it’s a fantastic filter, solid and reliable but the hoses went in the bin straight away as they’re not compatible with any of my other equipment.

Why do you say the ribbed hosing is 'incompatible'? I used to run a Hydor inline heater w/ a Fluval 305(IIRC) w/o any issues, though I don't recall how I had the hoses configured. The Hydor connections were very similar to the connections on the Fluval inline UVC, though... It would be nice if you offered hose kits in a couple of different lengths, though, to accommodate an in-line accessory. I.e., maybe a 2x4' kit to allow for the inline heater.

Still I would love to see fluval putting out a line of products with the FX power but focusing on aquascaping like glass/steel lily pipes, clear plumbing etc... At least make the diametrs 16/22 mm intead of 1" to make it more friendly to existing cometialy standard aquascaping stuff. 😉IMHO

I literally had to flush my hoses every five days. It’s annoying and tedious. Number 1 problem I have. Offer both. You say it saves times but only for the install. In the long haul it wastes time because the ribbed hoses get clogged very quickly and you have to waste time taking them off and cleaning them every couple days

Cleaning tool I made...🤣🧰🤣 VERSION 1 1. Slightly stiff baby bottle brush, etc. If possible, slightly larger than tubing 2 reach n2 the ribbing. (4 both versions.) 2. Cord, the length of the longest tube, then add foot and a half 2 it.*** 3. 1 heavy nut, screw, etc. Tie the cord 2 the handle of brush. The nut 2 the other end of cord. Drop the nut n2 the tubing and pull thru a few times during cleaning. Orrrrrrrrrr... VERSION 2 (More efficient) ***1. PVC pipe that will fit inside TUBING with wiggle room and the handle of the brush will fit inside PVC. PVC pipe measurement: HALF the length of the longest TUBING, then add half the length of that half 2 that. So the PVC should be just longer than the middle point of ur longest TUBING. U can also just opt out 2 the same length of the longest tubing. Just be sure 2 make it long enough 2 hold the end comfortably. Even add a handle if u like. Glue the handle n2 one end of PVC pipe. This version will allow u 2 turn the brush on the inside. Clean down as far u can by twisting in an up and down motion. Remove, flip the tubing and repeat. Hope this helps someone.😜💙
