Spinets often have fewer than 88 keys and were once a very popular low-cost option for the U.K. household.

I have a console Wurlitzer my parents bought me in late 80's. I tested most verticals in showroom and loved it. Action, tone, sound output was just right.

Jose Fuentes I have a console Wurlitzer from the early 80’s and it is honestly a great piano for its size. It has a lovely warm sound in my opinion. I wouldn’t trade it for any other console.

What would a mid-1960s Belmont / Lesage (of Canada) piano be? I assumed it was spinet originally, and then thought it was a "small upright" (or, I guess, a console). It is 38.5" tall. Some thought the keys were sticky, I just assumed it was needing maintenance which it hasn't had yet. Maybe that's just how they are? I actually love the sound.

I used to work as a choir pianist. They had a spinet, sounding non worse than an upright, and it was great to be able to see the singers in front of me

This Saturday, I am purchasing and receiving a MiniPiano from the late 1880s. It was well maintained, and is louder than a lot of console uprights I have played before. I guess I'm lucky to find one that is both higher quality, and well maintained.

What about a 1960 Baldwin Acrosonic piano? Are they worth $5000?

I’m not exactly and expert. But I’ll just tell you now. The answer is almost probably yes. That’s one of the best uprights there is

Excellent video. I have never lamented the death of spinet piano production. In most cases, I have not enjoyed playing spinets, because the action is not as good, and I have not enjoyed the tone of spinet pianos. String length and sounding board size can make a difference in the tone quality.

garysdeskcom I'm curious, since you've played on spinets, how's the feel of the action that makes it inferior to regular action pianos? and what about the tone?
@theepworthepiscopalspike82604 жыл бұрын
@@seiph80 the action on a spinet piano is similar to a semi-weighyed keyboard, when maintained properly, spinet pianos ONLY are useful in a room with minimal to no upholstery, any significant carpeting will instantly hinder the sound

I think the advent of digital pianos also played a role in the demise of the spinet.

The difference is a spinet sounds horrible
@sarahkraus82475 жыл бұрын
A spinet does not sound horrible unless the spinet is horrible. I have heard horrible console and grand pianos

@@sarahkraus8247 Very true. Lots of variations between manufacturers and their qualities.
