Exactly. Simply the lack of a cross guard makes it an inferior weapon in my opinion. Katana we’re side arms for a reason due to the superior pole arms that never get a good spot in anime or media in that regard

Clearly you have no idea the strength of a real katana, they’re one of the strongest blades due to them usually being made of Damascus. Damascus is known to be the most durable because of how it’s layered and the fact it draws impurities out of the metals. The katanas shape is also a huge factor in its cutting power. It also has a guard, aka the tsuba. Katanas are one of the best swords genuinely created because of how it was made and why it was made
