Have to give the Mets credit, they admitted it didnt work out and reacted fast, I would role with that starting lineup and go ham in bullpen and offense.

Ronnie is right... there is a lot of impatience in life right now... not just baseball. We are so used to have everything right when we want it now that if we have to wait then it's someone's fault and someone has to pay for it. Kinda sad really.

Mets will be just fine. Cohen played it smart. When the moves didnt work out, he immediately went and bolstered the farm system. Thats a step forward. It would have been nice to win on the field, but organizationally its a win. With Stearns coming in, one hopes that the organization continues to progress. Laying the foundation with analytics experts, talent evaluators etc. Paves the way to contention in the best years and rebuilds that actually lead to long term contention windows in the bad years.

I won't argue that point bc I agree they did the right thing trading those player away and getting young talent. My only concern is what are you doing? And this off season will let me know. If Mets are serious about building young talent and developing rookies, then I expect you to trade Nimmo, Marte, McNeil, Diaz and poss Alonso. We are stuck with Lindor. But to argue that statement the Mets went out and got multiple INF's. They don't have anyone to replace Alonso down in the minors. Your tied into Mauricio at 2nd, Lindor SS, Baty/Vientos 3b, Alveraz C. So where are these other rookies playing?!?!? OF I would assume be a combo of Acuna, Gilbert, Clifford/Rameriz. So again I ask what are you going to do with the rest??? Varges, Hernandez, Williams, Rodriguez, Pareda, Jackson and Houck???? Personally i hope Stearns trade these player for top talent players, I would be inclined to only keep Acuna, Gilbert, Mauricio, Alveraz, and SP. The rest I would trade for elite players like Bieber, Jose Rameriz, Luis Robert's, Eloy Jimenez, Trout, Arenado and others

Last night they showed a clip of the 1973 team that was in last place on Aug 30, and came back to win the division and came within one game of winning the WS - in a larger division no less. You have to wonder if this team could have pulled off something similar if they had kept the band together. That said, I have no qualms with the direction they chose to take.

The Mets problem this year started with Diaz going down right before the beginning of the season. That screwed up the whole cadence of the bullpen... and then the people left in the bullpen didn't play well at all (with the exception of Robertson I'd say). The bullpen cost the Mets at least 10 games this year I'd say.

Mets need to sign a couple of solid starters and shore up the bullpen. If you can make the play- offs in this era, you got a shot at winning the WS (see the 2021 Braves). The Mets have enough solid position players to go far in the postseason as long as the pitching is decent. They should be fine going forward as their farm system is in decent shape and their owner is willing to spend money if a good player becomes available. LGM 2024➡️ ⚾🤗

Classy move by Philadelphia. They beat the Braves when it mattered last season and the way the Braves played this season, they had the division sewn up by June so I don't see any reason for any ill will. Especially because of the possibility of a post season matchup between the two.

Big payroll teams become a collection of prima donas without any cohesiveness. Look at the friggin' Marlins. They know they aren't the better team going into each game. But boy, look at that dugout! It's like a college team with all that camaraderie.

Maybe Ron doesn’t remember (clearly BK does not) that in ‘86, the crew at Shea Stadium congratulated the Red Sox on winning the World Series. Then the the other Mookie hit a ground ball somewhere. I still argue that scoreboard message constitutes a binding legal contract, but they tell me the statute of limitations has passed. They also tell me that it doesn’t count if it’s written in lightbulbs; they had a paralegal check.

Odd that Kenney would see fans’ desire for teams to try to win as “impatience”. What’s the point of expanded playoffs, then? Most teams should be going for it every year. Too many are tanking. Even stranger-the Cards were predicted by most to win their weak division, will finish twenty games back, but Kenney says “they’re doing things the right way”.
@kingrama2727
@kingrama2727 10 ай бұрын
I think teams look at tanking as a way to restock the farm system so they can be good for more than just 1 or 2 years. Prime example of that is the Astros and Braves…

The Mets dont need to rebuild. What they need is a healthy Diaz and a healthy reliable rotation. OUr rotation was trash this season outside of Senga who looks like a future ace. I believe the lineup will be fine with the young kids Mauricio and Alvarez have already helped the lineup and look for Acuna to come up in july and have a big impact. Hes a big time talent.

Good combination with GM Eppler ability to notice and acquire excellent foreign free agents (Ohtani), and minor league players! He also knows good hitting over good pitching (w/ exception of Ohtani was also a good hitter) helped build the Mets minor league system hitting core! Example: He picked Jett Williams and other good prospects in the draft picks? He acquired through trades, Acuña, Gilbert, Ryan Clifford, Jeremy Jackson, Marcos Vargas all top 22 on the 100 minor league prospects also traded for 2 top international players Marco Vargas, & low level tier Ronald Hernandez! Then got Jeremy Rodriguez, Jackson, 1st year top tier hitting & fielding prospects low A & only 1 good flamethrower pitcher with somewhat control issues Justin Jarvis a top level prospect!?! On the other hand Stearns recognizes young hitters especially in the pitching department!!! Has a history of building an excellent farm system, especially in the minor league pitching department… Created a great Ball-club attitude and atmosphere for Owners, players and ball-club Staffers!!! Also the ownership, players and fans admiration and appreciation for helping the team into 5 playoffs contingency in the 7 years he was with the Brewers GM … Like I said great combination of GM & Teams President that can complement each other!!!

The only way I can explain to myself the way the year went for the '23 Mets is that the players unconsciously turned against their Manager and tuned him out, which caused him to lose the team. I hope I am mistaken in my perception.

Lets get some facts on the table: 1. Buck the Schmuck refuses to allow Heffner to do mound visits, until the last few days. 2. Buck the Schmuck would rather play an aging veteran than give the younger players a chance (see Vientos, Mauricio, etc). 3. Buck the Schmuck over relies on a few Relief pitchers and fails to pull them when they get in trouble. 4. Who cares about Otani, the Mets dont need him and shouldnt even try, he's too much and doesnt enhance the team.. Fire Eppler who made bad trades (pete Crowe Armstrong for Baez?????)( and is not supervising Buck in any meaningful manner, fire all coaches except the first and third base coach. Let DJ play more, he's great, and re sign Pham if he wants to come back. 5. In the offseason, sign good pitching, its out there, pay for it and lets move on. 6. FIRE BUCK THE SCHMUCK. He makes too many bad decisions, writes in his book and never acts on anything unless forced to, This was a weak interview that failed to address most of the key Mets issues, what a waste of time

I love the Mets. I hate Mets fans. You sir are a schmuck . Fire Eppler for trading PCA to the cubs when he’s made some excellent trades . Then Not only do you’re any them to fire the reigning manager of the year who was praised all 2022 but you want them to replace all the other coaches. I guess the team is supposed to magically click with all the new coaches and win immediately in 2024

DJ Stewart and Pham suck. This is exactly why the team loses every year because they bring back people that have had one half of a good year and their whole career is basically and away we go and then wonder why they suck and Buck Showalter doesn't make a line up bro or probably make the pitching decisions and yes he still does suck but you should keep that in mind and have yourself a lovely day
