As far as not needing to carry two tools in your bag, I prefer to have two, one for drilling and one for driving. It saves time on swapping bits back and forth.

I usually keep three on me. Guess im weird but I have gotten comfortable using the flex stacked hammer drill for power, sub compact makita drill for quick stuff and tight spaces, and the makita 4 speed impact. works for me

Definitely can be beneficial depending on what you're doing. If I'm working locally (within an hour or 2 for me) then I'll take my full pack out stack lol. Am I flying 10 hours to the UK for an install? Nope, I'm flying with the bare minimum I need to accomplish the install. It's an absolute pain carrying a large tool bag in certain countries/client sites/construction sites, etc...

I've just purchased this tool as a replacement to my combi DeWalt set. I do a lot of electrical and installation work and I travel on public transport the most and need to keep the weight and bulk of my tools down and this will cover 80% of all the jobs I encounter. Hopefully will be a game changer for me.

Drill- Packedge in typical box, came with a tool bag (added bonus), two batteries, one charger, drill, and driver. Two words "plenty of Torque" kzfaq.infoUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv well I guess that's three. Nice upgrade from current setup. Has belt clips, I don't think I will be using those. Driver and drill were bigger than what I expected but it is an upgrade from the current setup. For the money I would say that this is a great setup for Professionals and DIY/Weekend warriors.

I was able to get one of these at a huge discount and already own the the LXT and XGT Makita line. I'm used to heavy applications, but I must say, around the house, this is a perfect tool to save time. I wouldn't buy it if I didn't already own the LXT line, but for light/medium "around the house" applications, it makes sense. My circumstances are unique, but I'm very happy with it.

Such a good video! I have a Makita 18v combo like you, but in a 3 amp hour set. Purchased it in 2010 and it does great. Last year I picked up the Milwaukee 12v fuel combo. You were spot on when you said the weight and size are a big deal. The little Milwaukee 12v really packs a punch for its size and has done everything I have asked it to do. And it does it while being SO easy to use because of its weight! If I ever get into a bind I have the Makita 18v stuff but I haven't needed to pull those out in the past year. My next purchase I hope will be the Milwaukee 12v die grinder. Nice Utah plate in the background. I am in North Davis County, it would be fun to see you at the Home Depot!

Yeah I own 6 ridgid 18v. Started with gen1 drill/impact. Now a mid impact wrench, mini impact wrench, blower, and an octane 71/4” circular NIB @HD for $85! Plus six 4amp batteries. I do like the m12 thou. Just got the 3/8 right angle impact + battery $180 and maybe expanding to drill/impact kit for that smaller size

i recently ordered a bunch of hex drill bits to use my dcf850 as a do it all tool. chucks are so inconvenient when working on a job with 1 tool. i guess that would work well here. i love to see something similar to this from dewalt or milwaukee in their compact atomic/fuel lines. add in the replacable ends like in your weird/versatile drill video. and you could really have a universal tool.

Although I really appreciate and like the idea of this hydro drill and how it is a combination of the driver and the standard drill as a DIY Dad I do much prefer having my drill pieces on one machine and my driver on another this way I don't have to change any heads or drill pieces out which can be annoying when you are working in a particular pattern that builds as you ago and adjust measurements.

I like the idea behind having the two tools combined, that being said I feel that the loss of performance and size isn’t worth the trade off from having 2 separate tools. When the M12 Gen 3 outperforms this tool in every aspect, size, performance, weight, and tool options it’s seems silly to get into this at this price point. I get why it cost this as the technology to get it all crammed into 1 tool, but to me not worth it.

And then there's that kind of drill with the special clutch that's specifically made for fast drywalling, wherein the operator locks the gun to full speed but it doesn't spin the screw until it feels the pressure of applying the screw to the wall, so they can just zip on by really quickly without spinning the drill up and down. But since these motors can spin up really fast and the clutch enables the guy to put a screw on without the tip spinning, whether the motor is or not, then what 's the advantage of keeping the motor at full speed? Do the heavier (corded) motors still take that much longer to get back up to full speed that it would slow the drywaller down, or is it just to save the motor from the wear and tear of up and down speed?

Well in the real world scenario I'm only gonna need the 2! The Hammer Drill and the Impact Driver that's it! But due to my profession as a Contractor I'm gonna need 5 tools on that category, The Hammer Drill either Corded or Cordless, The Impact Driver 1/4 inch, Impact Wrenches from sizes 1/2 inch, 3/4 inch to 1 inch Anvil (either Cordless or Pneumatic Air) and Rotary Hammer Drill SDS either Corded or Cordless and Demolition Hammer Breaker (must be Corded or Pneumatic Air) that's all! I don't need a Drill Driver because cordless Hammer Drill can do Concrete, Metal and Wood Drilling and it can drive screws as well, Impact Driver is for driving small screws to large fasteners such as 4 or 5 inch Decking/Framing screws or Timberlok screws or Spax Powerlag screws, for Extra Large and Heavy Duty Fasteners such as lag bolts or nuts Impact Wrench is a must. For Drilling Harder Concrete or breaking or Chiselling The Rotary Hammer Drill SDS is the right tool. For breaking Concrete larger size concrete Demolition Hammer Breaker is a must. But IF I'm gonna need to clear out the entire Home Depot parking lot I'm gonna need a heavy equipment that's the Excavator with Breaker, and IF I'm gonna need to remodel or renovate a 40 story building then I'm gonna need a Thermite Demolition Bomb! 9/11/01 style!

Seems like a very niche product. Most people who need both am impact driver and a drill wouldn't be exclusively using one function for a long time then the other. They'd be hopping back and forward between them and it's easier to pick up a new tool than to change the bit. Even for a service bag, the only time I can't use my impact driver to drill a hole is if I'm going into pretty thick steel or concrete. Similarly, if I'm just looking to pick something up in a hurry there's nothing my impact driver can do that my drill can't (though it does to some things better) so the drill is just as good. I can see it being handy to keep around as a spare, but the fact is that it's worse at everything than the tools it's replacing, and the two tools it's trying to replace are similar enough in the first place that they can replace each other most of the time in a pinch. It's an interesting experiment. I think a better hybrid would be one with completely changeable chucks like the 4 or 5 in one tools you can get these days.
@craigphillips3154
@craigphillips3154 Жыл бұрын
I would much rather have separate tools than one overpriced compromise. It's very nice to be able to have separate tools with different bits so you don't have to keep swapping bits. I really don't see any advantage to having a hybrid tool.

You're comparing the speed/torque setting on the hybrid to the torque limiting clutch of the drill, these are not the same. The drill also has a torque/speed setting in the form of a numbered switch on top, and it behaves exactly the same as the hybrid; more speed = less torque, less speed = more torque. The torque speed/setting changes the gearing, the torque limiter on the drill is simply allowing a clutch to slip, it's not changing the torque output.

Absolutely not. I’d rather have several drills with the appropriate bit, socket or driver ready to rock on the fly.
