***pinning this since everyone who comments misses the point*** Like I say in the short, obviously the pitch of your switch will influence the sound. but it's on such a micro level in comparison to everything else in a keyboard. The case, keycap profile/material, plate, mods, acoustics all have a significantly bigger influence on sound, as shown in the video. I could put the thockiest switch i own into that bakeneko, and my kbd67lite with the clackiest switch i own would still sound thockier. Personally, I would look for a switch that has the best specs and reviews (smoothness, stem wobble, quality of spring, build quality) instead of searching for the "thocciest switch". lets be real, the thockiest switch is probably Topre. If all you care about is pitch, then buy a fully plastic topre board and call it a day. Lets say the internet told you that gateron Black Inks are the deepest thocciest switch. Well, you buy them, put them in your board, but... they're too heavy of a spring for you and you hate typing on your board, oh and they're also scratchy asf. Does sound really matter if the keyboard doesnt feel good to type on? You're better off searching for a switch you'lll actually like in terms of the feel over the sound. Hope that helps everyone looking for a switch. stem wobble, spring quality (lack of crunch), leaf ping/spring ping, smoothness are all things you should worry about more, in my opinion.
@WarrenLeggatt Жыл бұрын
It is NOT a micro level with all switches is it though. I have some Bulbasar for example (PC top/base housing POM stem) that are far far deeper than every other switch I have, like the pitch has been down shifted. This is not subtle it is a HUGE difference. Yes you can adjust the sound by what/how you build the board but a long pole short travel switch will be always be far louder than a more "normal" switch in the same board. I get what you are saying but think you downplay the effect the switch can have, sorry :)
@gamernade7591 Жыл бұрын
hi could you send me the link for that storage box where did you buy it ? regards
@AlliePaints2 күн бұрын
lol yea in a hobby of MICRO differences this is such a bad take. People want to know what the deepest sounding switch is so they can weigh that properly over the other properties of the switch. Not to mention modders. Sure the number one deepest switch might be a bit heavy, but could you do a spring swap and keep some of those sound benefits while getting a better spring? Could you do a better lube job and get rid of some of the rattle? These other factors can be worked on.

That’s a secret that every keyboard guru wants to keep hidden. They know what the thockiest switch is, but they tell you that ‘thock’ doesn’t even exist and that you have to do more ‘thinking’ instead of ‘thocking’. If you find out let me know. I’ll continue my endless research as well.
@J7T800 Жыл бұрын
If you want the real answer, It's OG Ink Blacks. Overshadowed nowadays by the Oil Kings, and the 1000th JWK recolor, it still holds the title for being the deepest sounding stock switch. Most of the people I know in the hobby swear by the OG Ink Blacks. They're basically the Holy Pandas of linear switches.
@obsidianquill7949 Жыл бұрын
@@J7T800 No the actual deepest sounding switch is the boba u4t and can be seen in the brendan b keyboard sound test. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pbGHY6eYtrGueHU.html As for why, no one knows since the housing material is proprietary and people just label it as boba housing.
@obsidianquill7949 Жыл бұрын
It’s literally a t shirt modded tofu, also cream sodas are creampaca level deepness. The cream sodas use a Pom stem similar to the one of khail reds while the u4t uses one with a much thicker stem. The boba housing has also been used in multiple of attempts for the worlds deepest keyboard, meaning that it’s reputation is quite large and no matter what you say the u4t is still respected by almost all members of the community as the deepest switch to ever exist. Heck, I could ask Punkshoo himself and he would probably agree with me.

@kediw doesn't matter nearly as much as the stuff the commenter above listed... but if i had to say THOCKIEST, maybe boba LT for linear, and idk bobas for tactile? but i'd argue that the feel is much more important. I personally can't stand how Bobas feel, so i'd recommend getting a switch tester kit from like canonkeys or something to help you decide. seriously, DO NOT pick by sound. if you dont like typing feel, you wont like the board you build.

@OneRedKraken9 ай бұрын
That is a really good point! The KB case profile/size & material. (And whether you mod it: forcebreak, killmat, tape mod, wtvr) The material of the switch plate. Even the keycap profile and material. All those things will have an impact on how the switch sounds, but in different ways. The case act as the resonance box on a guitar. Then the switch plate depending on the material used, will accentuate certain sounds of the switch. Aluminum will tend to be good if you like higher frequency sounds. Whereas something like PC will tend to resonate lower frequency sounds. Keycaps seems to have to do with their size. So Cherry vs SA. This is getting into subjective territory. But I found that the taller the keycap the deeper the sound, it also tends to emphasize popping. One thing is for sure. Unless you are listening to as ound test where the person lists all the materials (or at least a keyboard name you can look up to confirm the parts) it's not necesiarlly going to sound the same on your keyboard. Also whether or not you lube the switch yourself. Depending on the quality of the factory lube. It can also change the sound profile rather significantly in cases where there is on, or bad factory lube. Make sure you check whether you are listening to stock or hand lubed switches.
