Rog....you da man!! Most of us get nothing for for free so we gotta “take care of our shiit”. ;) Put the bearing spacers in!! I didn’t do it for years and then few years ago started to and it’s exactly what Rog said....it’s then all one piece and much stronger/reliable.

I got into a discussion about bearing spacers with a dude who worked for a roller hockey shop for like an hour around like 2016, and he told me there not gunna do much because urethane actually has give and moves you dont necesarily want to stop all that with a spacer, people didnt even think of using them on wheels for hockey but ive noticed now i see some spacers made for roller hockey wheels, wich is kind of weird, its definitly a flavor of the month thing because ive noticed it became a hott topic for both hockey and skating around the same time, i mean you go back prior to 2018 literally nobody used bearing spacers. Im pretty sure there some autobahn slims out there that spacers straight up dont even fit inside, and ur bearings would be actually pushed outward if you used the spacers, ive also seen the opposite where the spacers seemed to small and wiggled back n fourth inside the wheel. Ive tried with and without, and its literally made no difference in anything but sound.

Hey CROB just a reminder that the difference between a 52mm and 53mm wheel is only .5mm difference in board height a 54mm is 1mm higher than a 52mm because you have 1mm on the top and 1mm on the bottom of the wheel just wanted to put that out there for all the tech skateboard nerds lol

Urban Umbra what they SUPPOSED to be used for is to keep the bearings evenly spaced apart. But skate wheels are designed to do that already.

Best way to describe spacers is like your fingers holding a fidget spinner, you hold it in the middle, making it fixed, and allow the balls on the inside of the bearing to do all the job like they are supposed to.If you take of the spacers and crank your wheel, the bearings are gonna get squished inside and the wheel will work like a brake, stopping the bearing.
@POPtheHOBO
@POPtheHOBO 4 жыл бұрын
But that's normally why skaters DON'T crank their Axle bolt down too tight. Because the wheel will stop or slow down, spacer or not. Maybe that's what he ment. Your wheel will still keep ROTATING if you tighten your axle bolt down. But that's what the WASHERS not the spacer is for. Thoes are two different things.

Yes, but like having two (2) fidget spinners in hand that are not both evenly centered with each on axle inside the wheel. You put them in they don’t, “line up” dead center perfect fit; do remain stay in place after wheel nut is in, but not centered perfectly, or aligned with each other perfectly. They do prevent crushing the bearings though.

I rock 6 speedrings on each truck... which breaks down like this... per axle side, I have 2 speedrings on the inside of the wheel and 1 on the outter. It helps center the wheel on the axle so when you screw down your wheel nut it sits flush with the axle end... which helps prevent the axle from mushrooming. And technically gives you an extra 2mm truck grinding width area which the two addition inside sppedrings

5:53. , If you want to get technical, the spacer sits flush with the inner ring of the bearing case, ( what the bearings sit in) , so if you get axle slip. It won't have any effect on your bearings. Because the axle nut isn't pressed against the bearing itself. Its pressed against the spacer, which is basically thr same diameter of the inner bearing case, or close to it. So the bearings will still move freely. Of course you dont want the axle slip and you still want to tap the truck back to even it out because if not. The axle slippage will cause friction and friction causes HEAT. Heat will burn your bearings up. If they get hot enough, they will literally pop out of the casing BECAUSE AND ALSO, HEAT EXPANDs METAL. Hell heat expands almost everything. AIR, ALINUIMM ETC ETC

@guyfromthatthing1017
@guyfromthatthing1017 3 жыл бұрын
I’m guessing his WB can’t be much shorter than 13.75” or any longer than 14” max. Before modification the board is an inch longer , probably 14.25 WB, after mod prob 14” or just under that. Not clear if it’s evenly shorter (or just one kick shorter)-probably a 1/2” from nose and tail (hence why he bumped up to an 8.25 with longer tail to make his tailslide trick easier that they mentioned).
@32srt32
@32srt32 3 жыл бұрын
@@guyfromthatthing1017 he says his board is an inch shorter than a normal 8 which would end up being 30.75" long for the deck. You either have to have smaller nose and tail, or shorter flats of finger which would be bringing in the wheelbase.

Brandon Gullaba YES!!! The little .5 in (....or however deep it is) bearing seat on both sides of your skate wheels keeps the bearings separated. Most spacers aren't even long enough to reach and touch each bearing when you put them in.

@POPtheHOBO
@POPtheHOBO 4 жыл бұрын
Brandon Gullaba you must power slide and revert a lot. Only suggestion I have for that is, make sure your bearings are evenly pressed inside your wheels. You can check this by after placeing your bearings in. holding your wheel in the middle with your thumb and finger and spin it like a figgit spinner. If it wobbles they are pressed in completely even. Or use a manual bearing presser (most skateboard shops have them). That should help prevent that problem from happening so much.

@POPtheHOBO
@POPtheHOBO 4 жыл бұрын
@@natfingerboard the little balls are INSIDE the bearings caseing . And the bearings don't even touch the spacers. The bearing seat that's cut into or placed inside of the wheels keeps the bearings from getting pushed to close together. you can LITERALLY see this! Put on bearing into a skate wheel. Then place a spacer inside. Then place the other bearing into the other side of the wheel. Now hold the wheel up and look into the hole of it. If you can't see through a perfect circle because of a curved line in the middle of the hole. THAT'S BECAUSE THE SPACER HOLE ISN'T ALIGNED WITH THE BEARING HOLES. Now there are some bearings that have a spacer built onto them. But once again it's pointless to have that because skate wheels have a stopping point. And you can't push a bearing through a wheel past that point.
