I bought a Hyper Tough 18v Cordless Drill about 4-5 years ago. It introduced me to the world of cordless tools. I've moved on to buy into the Skil 12v and Makita line tools. The Hyper Tough drill still works fine. I use it all the time for light use, as it does complain and is a bit slow and wimpy on the heavier tasks. I paid less than the $20 (with charger and battery), so I got more than my money's worth.

That's actually pretty awesome

The slow and low power of that drill is good for some applications. I have a little old drill that I use all the time for electronics or other sensitive stuff. Impacts and 20v tools will destroy those things.

I picked up a used Hyper Tough hammer drill about a month ago. It's adequate when used with hex shank bits, but otherwise, the chuck is pretty close to useless on smaller bits. It has a bunch of clutch settings, but the chuck will let go long before you invoke the clutch. Still, for dirt cheap, it's better than I expected.

The bins and shelving systems are made in Jefferson City, Mo or in the Ohio plant, I believe in Sycamore, by American Plastics. The Craftsman bins as well as the yellow lid bins at Lowe’s, Walmart and Sam’s are all made by American Plastics. I’ve loaded thousands of those things lol.

I actually just bought some 40v Hart OPE stuff on clearance at my nearest store (there’s four). An attachment-capable string trimmer kit with 4ah battery for $75 and the tiller attachment for $30. The prices and selection vary wildly even among the local stores.
@robwebnoid57632 ай бұрын
I also noticed that too a a few years ago, when Walmart began to sell Hart stuff & that the Hart pricing was relatively too high compared to other brand-name tools. I would rather just go buy cheaper alternatives. I don't care if Hart products are better quality, which I don't really know, but since I know how to repair tools, I would rather buy something cheaper & repair or modify it to make it better if it breaks down, of which I haven't really had any big issues with other brands. I haven't really noticed the prices on HyperTough, but it was the Hart high prices that stood out for me when I've perused the Walmart tool section. Luckily there is a small Mom&Pop type store in my town that is sort of like a mini-Walmart that combines tools & food, where their prices are lower than Walmart & Lowes/HomeDepot, although they do not have everything, so you just have to look around to see if they have what you are looking for & if you find it, the prices are probably cheaper. 04/06/24

About the only thing I think worth buying specially hyper tough related is their small parts organizers. They're two for $13 and they hook together and you can stack as many as you want. I use them for screws, wire connectors and other small stuff and they live in the bed of my truck. So far the water seals have worked even when my bed was full of water after a heavy rain for six months. The real test will be how they handle the Texas summer which can turn plastic into so soft you could mold it or so brittle it breaks looking at it.
@jimtownsend78993 ай бұрын
You’d be hard pressed to find any Hart stuff at the local Wally Worlds around here. And the Hypertough is about 10 feet of an aisle. And I was wondering not long ago if WM and Hart had parted company, since I’m finding more and more Hart stuff at Ollie’s.

I have that long reach Hyper Tough ratchet. It's not my go-to (that's my 12V Milwaukee) but I'll tell ya, it works like it should, gets me in and out on tough spots. I'd like the charger and another battery but I'm cheap. That short recip saw looks like a win for the occasional use. Walmart has increased a lot of prices everywhere in the store and by significant amounts. n It goes to figure the Hart stuff would get expensive.

Finishing out our basement in our new house, I love Hyper Tough for what it is.. I mean I got a sledge hammer for $6 and it's fiberglass too. Otherwise historically I had a Hart brand hammer drill that I felt was overpriced and wasn't really that good compared to my HFT Bauer tools which have done most of the project without so much as a hiccup. I think the main thing with these cheaper tools is they give you a great tool basically at a loss, but they then make up for it with the batteries since the batteries are generally more than the cost of the tool itself.

Likewise I built up a Hart collection of about 15 20V tools and a slew of batteries. It's been over a year since I added to it. The tools I have work great and there's nothing new anyway. Besides, we all got use to the low intro prices or the closeout prices. And that's not easily found any more. Some Hart items are now at Ollie's, which is a good indicator of how well they didn't sell at Walmart. Ollie's is a frequent host for Walmart/Sams overstocks. The real deals on Hart right now are on Ebay and Mercari. Prices are still dirt cheap. Many items new in box. That's just how it is for now.

I’ve had all 3 lines. Hart, hyper tough 12v and 20v. I didn’t like how expensive hart was. It should be a little cheaper to be a better value. I ended up selling out of the line. The hyper tough 12v is great. Better than the 20v. But doesn’t have the tool selection of the 20v line. The 20v line is under powered. I think it’s due to the batteries being low quality. WM has that appealing return policy, but where they really fall short is on tool storage and organization, which is pretty strange for them. If you're working in a shop, you probably aren't buying sockets from WM, so they might as well come up with a good travel solution. If the big stores are moving away from blow molded cases, they should distinguish themselves by moving back.

What's up is that the Hyper tough line offers some rebranded high quality American made WILDE pry bars, while HART is a shamelessly used name that once belonged to the best manufacturer of California framing hammers. They also replaced every American made Channellock, and V&B / Dasco tool with crappy imported HART brand knockoffs. Without them Walmart would still sell Channellock pliers, Vaughan & Bushnell hammers, and Dasco pro pry bars. I can't stand the HART brand.

I got in the Hart 20 volt line about 2 years ago. They have good stuff, but honestly, for the amount I use some certain tools, I’ve been going across the street to Harbor Freight and getting Warrior or Bauer corded tools. I really like my Hart drill and driver, I easily use those two the most frequently. Last summer I switched to a Hart 20 volt string trimmer with good results from a Craftsman 2 stroke that was only lasting a season or two and I’ve really fallen in love with the Hart 18 gauge nailer. I just have a hard time justifying getting a $70 Hart 20v angle grinder or multi tool when HF has the Bauer corded 7 amp grinder on sale for $19.99 and the Warrior 2 amp multi tool on coupon for $15.00 and I’m only going to rarely have a need for those for my DIY projects. I may bump up to a Bauer multi tool though, I’ve been discovering new uses for that versatile piece of equipment and the Bauer 3 amp version may be worth it. I’m a mix of Hart battery powered tools for my most common needs and Warrior and Bauer corded tools for the less often used tools and corded Sun Joe trimmers and saws for my outdoor bush and tree trimming as I have a lot of work out there and I don’t think battery tools would cut it for me. That’s what works for me. Always look forward to the videos, have a great rest of the weekend everyone.
