I'm really liking this concept of Gmod ragdolls being alive and fearing the player. It's a new approach to Gmod ARGS that isn't just "Spooky black figure who is watching the player from the dark area in GM_Construct".

Fun fact: In the heavy's tv Machinima when the tv turns on, it's really hard to see but there is a black box covering the screen, implying that there was something on the tv badwater didn't want us to see.

Going from "hide" to "run" is actually terrifying. It's too late to hide, it knows where you are, you just have. To. Run

Not gonna lie, "Melon Man", "Teethineer", and "Badwater" would all be pretty dope bosses for Freak Fortress.

When engi and melon man shaking hands, you can see that engineer's smile wears off with time

The teethineer is scary. Not because of his appearance but because badwaters might have deformed and twisted his face. Imagine having that done to you, imagine all the pain he must be in

If I had to guess why these guys use TF2 characters as the only living ragdolls, it has to do with how TF2 ragdolls behave. When I first started playing with the TF2 models circa 09, they seemed to have a mind of their own. You would pick them up and freeze their head in place but their bodies kept moving. They would shimmy around and even *pull* the frozen points around the map. It was nothing like the half life and portal content I had been playing with for months.

One thing I seriously respect about this ARG, is that you can tell the creator is an actually talented animator, because of the smooth animations they do when one of the characters is moving on their own, and they're *faking* amateur 2009 era ragdoll manipulation/stop motion animation

One of the things I admire about videos like these is that the horror takes place in the daytime. It's easy to make something eerie, when the events transpire in an enclosed space, and/or in the darkness. But a good portion of these videos are out in broad daylight... With pretty much nobody but the helpless Gmod ragdolls and Badwater. That scene of Scout walking up to a motionless Sniper, and receiving no response is legitimately some real nightmare fuel. It's bright and sunny. His friend is right there. But he's better off running away, than staying out here. It's genuinely scary as balls.

Interesting how once the scout starts getting dragged, both his picture in the bottom left and his ammo count change. His picture changes to that of the ragdoll in gmod and the ammo count goes to zero as he drops his gun.

Theory: The role that RED Scout plays in The Broken TV was originally going to be played by BLU Engineer, but after RED Scout witnessed production of The Broken TV, BLU Engineer was replaced and was mutilated into the Teethineer for another machinima.

I love how both Gunslinger and Badwater have handled their stories. It’s a very creative concept that they’re playing with that you don’t really see often. Creepypastas and ARGs of the past try to make the player afraid of the game, these two make it the other way around. The GAME is afraid of the PLAYER. I can’t wait for whatever these two do next.

Something I feel warrants mentioning is that, after being 'coerced' into beating Teethineer's deformed skull in, Melon Man seems to sort of disobey: His punches don't seem like they have as much weight to them. Look at the initial slug to Teethineer's face. It has follow-through. It connects with a metallic clank and is strong enough to knock Teethineer over. After he's forced to continue the beating, though, the hitsound changes to a much quieter noise, and Melon Man's punches are noticeably quicker and less forceful. He can't bring himself to really hurt Teethineer, so he's not whaling on him. He's just jabbing. It seems to still hurt, but the fact of the matter is that Teethineer survives and has no lasting injuries. Too bad Teethineer still seems pissed off over it, seeing how he helps Dr. Metalhead afterwards to make a super-Soldier specifically to kill Melon Man, and unlike Melon Man, Teethineer doesn't seem hesitant about it at all.

I think the door that Scout comes through in "The Broken TV" is the same type of door that we see in "Passage". This could mean that Badwater, knowing that these doors might lead somewhere, might've gone through the one in Sawmill to find the Scout after he escaped. And plus, we seen Badwater dragging a ragdoll through the white void, so it's safe to say that badwater acknowledges it.

Not sure if this idea has been tossed or not, but I think I know how RED Scout survived the TV episode. Scout wasn't hit with the Remover, but rather a Duplicator, then deleted. The reason he seems more confused than scared when he wakes up is because the version of him that was pasted doesn't remember being deleted as it hadn't happened yet. To him, he possibly just woke up from a strange nightmare.

Another thing I love is that the movement is so jerky until the characters move, they seem very smooth and life like

I went in thinking “yeah it’s a Gunslingerpro2009 knockoff” but upon watching it, it’s actually fairly distinct from GSP and I really really like it

The teetheneer looks like he's actually a custom model, if that's the case then I gotta give it to BadwaterVideos for making something that I found unsettling after seeing years worth of gmod content

Imagine as a tf2 npc roaming around and seeing a Gmod KZfaqr Player spotting you and later on makes you a ragdoll for his video and you manage to escape and be saved by some kind of bug.

I love how smooth the animations for living ragdolls are. It just looks so good. The people behind this definitely know what they're doing, and they are at least good at animating in gmod.

Gotta love how the term ARG went from solving a bunch of puzzles, to this.

Imagine if Badwater and gunslinger teamed up there would be carnage

the whole changing to "run" thing for the radio would make sense because it gets louder so the scout can hear it

My theory as to how scout survived is that Bad water forgot to delete another model of the red scout in that map with the dead sniper.

This man is truly a damn good animator. The whole first person scene with the red scout was amazing. How Scout turned the radio and how his hand stopped when thinking about turning it off. His head tilt at the very out of place Blu Sniper. Its just damn good.

If this is what badwater and gunslinger's characters go through Imagine what happens to eltorro64rus's characters

It's possible that Scout wasn't saved by a different entity, but instead he was forced to star in another one of Badwater's machinima. Badwater may have placed the Scout on the bench before the filming of his next video, and Scout woke up and escaped before he could be stopped. As for the radio message, it's possible that there are other sentient beings that are trying to help him.

One thing that makes this even better is the lack of Jumpscares, they are such an overused trope in horror that is rarely ditched for something even more unsettling.

one thing i should point out about these characters being sentient is how the soldier reacts to being the way he is. showing he's in some form of excruciating pain. could the teethineer feel this way too? having his face contorted and warped to only be nothing but a gaping mouth with teeth?

I think the area the red scout ends up may be some sort of "Landfill" where things go after being removed, given the piles of random hl2 props everywhere.

Something also admirable is that it isn’t just hinting at the player torturing the characters but that something is also hinted at trying to aid them... so it isn’t seemingly absolutely hopeless

Damn its nice to see hes making another one of these, if you ask me the way he makes these videos just always make them so much more interesting and he actually shows unique ones instead of "generic pitch black figure in gm_construct dark room for the 80th time"

I need to say this, the Teethineer is GENUINLY the creepiest gmod model Iv ever seen

The numbers begin said by the radio are so cool. It's clearly Unicode/ASCII for people who know comp sci (though the hex bit is harder to get). The last message was especially good, since it was so clearly RUN, due to the differences between the numbers and the repeated three letter pattern.

fun fact: The run theory at the end is proven true due to Badwater uploading a video called "Sanctuary". Sadly, Scout wasn't in the haven for long. He then accidentally finds an exit to the set for "Melonman vs. The Teethineer". He is then found by Badwater and put into the next set. However, it appears Badwater has forgotten to anchor Scout, he then escapes and gets into the garage. He entered the room in the middle, which is pitch black, Badwater then finds him there. But doesn't attack him, instead, he just went away. After that, he finds a white orb. That is it.

i love the 3rd video the most, i immediately knew what was going on from that slight frown and head shake from the blue heavy... the thought kinda scares me, what if every gmod npc is actually alive, and we the players don't even know about it and they're just used for our entertainment. though i think the operator knows about this and intentionally forces the npcs to do stuff, especially at the part where melon man hesitates to punch the weird teeth guy

Sharing my ideas: He honestly just deleted the scout but that didn't kill him. he loaded him back into the world and thats when we see him. He was probally working on a new machinima. seeing as hes used the joke of there being a door but no dooryway before in the first video and he was afk or the likes. so the gaurdian was warning him when he came back

i like the differences between the two as badwater seems to be an aspiring freak creator (people like kugawatten) while gunslingerpro is the one who is an aspiring general gmod machinima creator. the narrative difference is that while gunslinger's intentions have been to torture and create machinimas while also trying to hide that their alive, badwater has not entirely trying to torture but trying to get them to make his machinamas better while torture being a side affect

I think these types of ARGs end up being a genre if more people get inspired to make their own version.

This got me thinking... What if all the times we made machinima, all the things we were messing with were living...? Like think about it, you spawn in a model and you muck around with it... depending on what you do, it's gonna like or despise you.

Can we just appreciate how much the teethineer design is terrifing, I can definetly see him as a villan in some horror game or film.

I think Scout's HUD is just how the sentient ragdolls see, and if it were a player that would mean they're playing TF2, which is impossible considering Badwater clearly has the Phsygun and other GMod props

What's interesting about the scene where Melonman beats up Teethineer, the punches look almost...held back. They're not very forceful (although they sound forceful, with the sounds effects played when he jabs teethineer straight on in the face), like he wants to stop himself but fears too much for his own life.

I like to think that: -Living characters are able to record their life. -Badwater knows this and is uploading scout's story. I like to think that the wasn't saved by an entity but instead by badwater himself that wanted to make a second plot out of the scout trying to escape

If I ever made an ARG with living ragdolls, I would do things that aren’t so evil

A game that’s supposed to be cartoony has turned into an absolutely horrifying ARG.

The most unnerving part is how smooth some of the movements are

After watching emesis blue, the pool that soldier was being dropped in looked like an old version of the respawn machine

It is interesting to see elements from early gmod movies in these clips. Take teethineer, for insance. The facial design is reminiscent of Vagineer, while the gutteral cracks when he moves are the same as "Painis cupcake".

Something I just realized about gunslingerpro2009 is that in the lore of tf2 pyro and engineer are freinds. Pyro even has a weapon that can take of sappers from his build and you know what? A pyro NEVER made an appearance in his videos

I think the unknown guardian angel to the scout is the TF2 player who was originally controlling him on sawmill, after the scout was grabbed, the player lost control of him but is still capable of opening the pause menu to disconnect him from the server and place him in another map before he could be deleted by the GMOD animator. Since the video with heavy being deleted is from the scouts perspective, we don’t get a hud nor any user interfaces we are familiar with, just a sudden visual distortion. Although I don’t have an explanation for how he’d be able to transmit messages through the radio, maybe he also has Garry’s mod on steam, but since the GMOD animator is probably playing single player, all he can do is send messages through the radio, among other yet to be seen ways to manipulate others games. in a ARG where game characters are sentient I don’t think it’s hard to imagine someone somehow being capable of influencing other peoples single player games. I like this dueling forces trope since clearly the GMOD animator dislikes scouts, while the TF2 player plays as scout, it’d be reasonable to say he likes scout. So I’d make sense if he’d try to save his favorite mercenary.

My theory about the Scout situation is that he was actually deleted but respawned by Badwater for another Machinima. However, someone else (I'm gonna make a far guess and say it was Blu Heavy after being respawned) used the radio to try helping Scout reach a pocket dimension. I think this pocket dimension is where deleted characters go before they get respawned. However, there could be another explanation for the pocket dimension. I'm not to sure.

These videos gave me some thoughts... Just imagine how scared you would be if you suddenly found yourself in a familiar or not place where there is no one but an almighty player with nstrumnts and he plays with you and the corpses of your friends forcing you to play funny absurd scenes. That's what the horror part of these ARGS is built on. I'm not a timid man, but this thing... It scares me

One thing I noticed about BadWater is how the story is executed and the characters within it. The story seems to take a "Pulp Fiction" approach, where despite focusing on different characters throughout the videos, the story still remains somewhat the same. That being the omnipotent being that is the player and how he uses these characters to his own whim as means for entertainment.

In my opinion I think the white void is supposed to be unallocated memory for the source engine and is only a temporary place to hide because soon something will load there. Though maybe I'm look too far into it, but that's just my perspective as a programmer

Something I noticed is that on melonman to the rescue at the end they don’t stop shaking hands and engineers smile turns into a frown I find this weird so now I have a theory that engineer is seeing things.

Honestly, I don't think that Melon-Man was hesitant to punch the Teethineer, but rather, was looking at the player to know what to do next. Kinda like how an actor would look off-screen towards the person who holds the cards with the script on them.
