Re doing the plating on the bolts, the Honda exploded view shop manual is very good at telling you the size (overall L and Dia) of the bolts and where they go. What they don't tell you is the length of the unthreaded section of the bolts. So, when I took mine apart, I noted both lengths so that I had a fighting chance of installing the correct bolt in the proper spot.

What size bore honing tool did you use I need to find one to do the same thing that you're doing and I want to make sure I get the right size thanks

I'm going to need plating for screws and bolts for my own CB750F (DOHC) rebuild can you tell me the metal plater you use? I have broken down the bike and now I'm ready to inspect the engine to see what it needs internally---thanks for all the great videoc

I actually got them plated for free from a family member who works in metal fab, and they plate stuff weekly. Anyway, I was going to use these guys: streamwoodplating.com/

Have a diff of opinion re crank re-welding. Here in S.A. have had done many white metal cranks done. Far as i know the bearings can even be made/re-white-metaled. Way back in my appy days watched a car mechanic using a bearing scraper to get the correct clearance. Friendly Greetings Bjorn Ps; appy days where 1978 at Tiger Yamaha Jhb S.A.

I bought a good used crank for $39 dollars. That is the best option IMHO. Scraping bearings? Seriously?

@@HTMR I recently read of bronze giude liners for a CB750. The word retarded comes into play and I have a 106HP CB750. I make a billet cylinder block

Nice work Mate, bolts always get lost at the players.,plate them yourself, easy. That bike needs a 900 kit and some 29mm smoothbores,not flatslides keep it period correct.. Do a light porting job. Having done my apprenticeship 45 yrs ago as an engine builder and having built many bike motors, including my current gs1000, slow the hone down a bit, you are going in and out a little fast, you will end up with even a better pattern. In the days when bearings were bearings and always available, we would have metal sprayed them up and re cut them. Bloody Honda I have the same thing with my 79 CBX. Otherwise you doing real good. I know it all costs money, but I will never reuse a white metal bearing on a rebuild, just not worth it.

Thanks. I did get a 45° pattern with hone, so I thought my RPM/stroke speed was OK. Cylinders were bored andyway. I'm going with new bearings. Here is the new parts video:kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iamhlMJorZ3Me6c.html

How did you account for the 'non-available' rod and crank bearings. All the sites I've seen have 'poor' availability of all the bearings.

I already bought them from partzilla. Green mains, yellow rod.

Many of the colors are NLA.

@@noidontthinksolol Most of the different colors rod and main bearings are NLA from Honda. If you had codes that matched to available mains and rod bearings you got very lucky.
