I am watching this after talking with my wife about the dog's food. We use Victor grain free, and our 2 yr old sheltie is the very picture of heath and beauty. Well, my wife starts talking about the Farmer's dog, and that got me looking for some kind of standard that one would use to actually prove out who makes the better food at the better price. Google search returns show that something called WSAVA does just that. O.K. fine, but who are they then? Here I am and it doesn't surprise me that it's other than what one might hope.

Very good video. AAFCO feeding trial requires eight animals be fed nothing but the subject food for six months. If all eight animals are still alive, the food passes. As with human health care, it is more profitable to treat symptoms forever, than to cure the disease. Those nutrition "experts" tell us that feeding a cat dry food, especially a cat with kidney or UTI problems, is fine. Most veterinarians use the Small Animal Clinical Nutrition book for nutrition guidance. SACN is produced by the Mark Morris Institute. The Morris Institute is a part of Hill's, which was founded by Mark Morris. Carbohydrates are really bad for cats. I tell my kibble pushing friends that when corn and wheat futures go down, Hill's profits go up. LOL

All 5 foods following the guidelines are owned and produced by Mars (3 of them), Nestle and Colgate-Palmolive. The latter 3 conglomerates are also sponsors of WSAVA. Meanwhile, Mars as a Group is dedicated to pet health and owns a ton of other brands, for example Orijen. Would that mean that Mars itself is pushing foods that according to WSAVA are bad? The whole WSAVA guidelines seem to be written to basically entrench the biggest most commercial big pet brands.

Purina is 100% a terrible dog food. WSAVA is so flawed
