I'm seriously considering taking Chinese instead of German in high school (German/French is mandatory - which language you have depends on which you had in primary school, it's complicated lol - but I can switch it out with Chinese or Spanish if I'm lucky)! If I do choose Chinese, I will do my best to master it!

@JJ X yeah… I’m taking spanish now because chinese wasn’t available, but i’m still gonna try to learn chinese. German is just really really difficult and i don’t really think the teachers that teach it are good.

Interesting, that jiào sounds like ciao in Italian and means the same. There more words I discovered to be of Chinese origin, such as the English sure.

Hey hope its not too late, this is madarin I believe, "I" in Cantonese is pronounced like "Ngo". I know there are other dialects but im positive its mandarin. I'm learning on duolingo too :)
