Her life had once revolved around pixels, virtual adventures, and the thrill of conquering challenging games. However, ForeverNeena's life had taken a drastic turn, leading her down an entirely different path. It all began when ForeverNeena's mother fell seriously ill. Her medical bills had been piling up, and ForeverNeena was desperately low on money. Faced with mounting debt and the fear of losing her mother, she had to make a difficult decision. She decided to take up a job as a firewatch worker to earn the money she so desperately needed. The job required her to patrol a vast, dense forest that stretched as far as the eye could see. I've got a few working theories for this! For one: The Ethereal Lady book (I highly doubt it actually happened in their universe oyher than being a folktale, but it definitely has parallels that connect it) has a lot of religious implications, from my point of few. From the children "straying from her light," her forgiveness just so long as they come back to her, and just the overall appearance of the corrupted children hammered this in for me. I don't believe this story was written to have a "happy ending," as Bonnie says, or at least not to the player. It seems entitely infair, doesn't it? It gives one mixed feelings. It looks like a happy ending, as the children are happy with the Ethreal Lady in the end, but what about the corrupted? For those children that refused to go back under her care, they were "slain without hesitation." It doesn’t sit well with many people, especially since the whole reason they started to be corrupt was because of the careless teachings of the Ethereal Lady (chapter one, where she very poorly taught that boy right from wrong. She didn’t teach him to be better. He was humiliated and was never explained to why his actions were wrong, just that they were, and they very much judged his disposition much more than his situation (fundamental attribution error)). The "corrupted" children were given a beastly look when, well, *corrupted.* As shown in the second chapter, it's shown as humanoid animals turning into beasts. Pause. Now let's take a look at Bonnie. She "dehumanizes" her victims by calling them "its" and refuses to consider them real people, but instead calls them "customers" and "ingredients," entirely based on if she's hunting them or if they're supporting her bakery. This most likely makes it easier for her to use them, as she sees them as inferior, or better yet, *inhumane* (think about it: this may have also been the reason she seemed freaked when she overheard the rabbit-parents talking about their missing daughters. She doesn't want to think of her ingredients as real people with real lives and families).This is very similar to the Ethereal Lady. She doesn't want to hurt the corrupted because she knows who they once were and that they wete once her children, but once she realized they had no humanity in them, she killed them with "no hesitation." Sound familiar? I think it's also safe to assume Bonnie has some prejudice against animals. Considering she's a human and apparently comes from a human family and only sees animals as ingrediants or customers (both a form of profit). Given the parallels between the book and the game, I wouldn't be surprised if Bonnie believes she's doing what she's meant to do. That she's doing things how they're meant to be. *With humans eating animals.* It may have been harder for her to do this before as when she first moved to this town, all the animals lived just as humans, and so she saw them as such, so when she killed her first animal, she obviously felt guilt. Then she made a profit and soon began to see animals as just that. A profit. This is all also why Bonnie must have liked the book so much. I think, even if the book and the game don't take place in the same universe, or if the book as simply just a piece of literature in the game, it's still worth it to call out the parallels between them, bc the author wouldn't add that *just because.* We know it's related to Bonnie in some way, as shown by my essay thing... Ty for coming to be TED talk I beg of y'all, please please PLEASE add onto this! I would LOVE to see your takes and opinions on this story bc it's just too fascinating not to! Hope you enjoyed my rant
