This video walks you through how to trouble shoot your basement or crawl space sump pump not working. I always advise my customers the first thing they should do when buying a new home is to get a battery back up sump pump system this way should the main pump fail, or you lose power you're protected.

Lol.. "sometimes villages will let you use a normal outlet". My village code enforcement says no.. ha!

Yeah I know. Not that I want to tell anybody to deviate, however I always tell my customers “if this was my house” I would remove the GFI and install a standard 15 amp outlet, as well as a battery back up sump pump as an added layer of security. 😉😉

If the basement or whatever you call it is FULLY submerged by a backup and primary sump pump failure, wouldn’t the circuit breakers fail to?

If you mean, the basement is completely underwater all the way up to the first floor then the circuit breaker should trip however, sometimes one off scenarios can happen. In a case like that you’ll want to get a professional contractor involved.
