Hey everyone, welcome to my channel, I'm Mey :)
In today's video I want to answer a question that I have been getting asked a lot lately- which one is better- Canva or ‪@Kittldesign‬ ??
Now, trying to compare Canva or Kittle just on their main features will do no justice to the ACTUAL reason of the question, which is- which one should you be paying for if you could only afford one of these memberships?
I do have to say that this is my personal take on comparing the two platforms, and a lot of other print on demand sellers will no agree with me and that's totally OK!
I am also using BOTH for my business (Yes, other than print on demand, and even other than KZfaq...) and i am an affiliate of both, so I really don't have much reason to choose one or the other, this is just my personal view after using Kittl for the past few months, and using Canva since... Jishhhh... I don't even know !

I think this was one of you most informative videos to date. I can relate, for I have some professional software (Photoshop) like you and it comes down to time. Do I spend the extra time to learn the many cool features of the software I own or take the easier route and use something like Kittl/Canva to do the same things, but faster. Hearing that you too have the professional software, but use this other software to save time is a relief that I'm not along in these types of decisions. Thank you .......PS I felt others should see your video, so I copied the link and added it to a few Facebook groups. I hope this helps.

Thank you great video. I use both little and Canva for sublimation. Usually I have my own elements I uploaded to the canvas and sometimes add text. The ai background remover oknkittl and Viectorize gets used a lot. Finally photoshop is used to print and manage colors on an epson f570. I love both programs, but the fact that Kittl is more geared towards vintage, and I can use Photopea or Photoshop to warp text. I do agree, though, CF and Canva just have too many elements or graphics, and it is so overwhelming, but I don't just make vintage designs, so, that is the one reason I don't go with Kittl. I know I can bring in my own design elements, though. I think I may get CF, though, because it is only $9 after the first months, which is only $1. I am hoping to be able to get Kittl, eventually, though, because, yes, it is more geared towards POD. I am really disappointed in Canva, because if you're are paying, you shouldn't have to question whether you can use a design element or not. I wish they would separate those, make a category of elements that you are allowed to use, make another category that you have to ask to use, etc.
@MeyTribe
@MeyTribe Жыл бұрын
I feel like for them to make these categories would be "so hard"- cause people use Canva for so many different things... That's why a curated platform makes it easier to "think" of what you can or cannot do. But yeah, if you got other softwares to help you out that's amazing! Also, I wanted to say thanks LOL Your comment on Ryan's video of Repper made them contact me, we actually spoke that very same day, and I am issuing a video on them in the next few days after properly exploring the system :)

All good points. I wish there was one program that could do it all and all be allowed for commercial use. It's confusing to use four programs. I do love how easy it is on Canva to make seamless patterns out of your own uploaded elements though. And I used it to make a fanart book as a gift that we printed via an online service. it was easy for that. Also, I swear I'm seeing Kittl and Canva designs on Creative Fabrica.
@MeyTribe
@MeyTribe Жыл бұрын
Yeah, Canva's seamless patterns option is still better, but I have been emailing with kittl a bit on developing that as well, as it won;t be a hard feature to add, these guidelines that help with the patterns. (also, there's a video coming up later today about patterns, I think you'll like it LOL) If you do see them on CF- can you DM me?? I already found a design marketplace that people just bluntly sell the same graphics of canva, pissed me off...

31:40 I had the same doubt about canva audios. Audios can't be modified either & more risky when it's in the pro. I'd stop using Canva audio (but I'll use canva free audio) Audios are risky as a whole. (I wish there was a platform with the option to modify audios.)
@MeyTribe
@MeyTribe Жыл бұрын
I used the audio feature only once, and ONLY cause that was the audio that was with the template I used (hence me thinking it's ok to actually use it, I mean, why would they have a KZfaq intro template that people can't use for a KZfaq intro???) Now I am using some basic ones from iMovie, I use freesound.org sometimes, and with the new channel that will have more music- artlist.io, already got the creator membership to cover using them for KZfaq.

@laurens.7510
@laurens.7510 Жыл бұрын
I think Photoshop is still best and if you don't have the $$, Gimp is a decent alternative (if you know how to use design software). Canva is good for people that are not skilled in Adobe Suites. I think, though, that Canva does not always make the right size and people think they have a 300 dpi but it does not translate when they upload. I have seen distortion that I have had to fix for people. What you see is not always what you get. Hot tip: ALWAYS look on a rgb to cmyk conversion site because the conversion is not made in Canva. You can see how your actual saved graphics will look BEFORE you make a big mistake and send a design file to your chosen pod. I guarantee you will get one star and disgruntled buyers. As you said in one of the videos (I watched the other day), hard to come back from that. It is ok to get a few people that did not like your work (you cannot please everyone) but that should come after you have a fair amount of business. People can overlook one or two negatives out of dozens or more but not when it is one of your first sales. Always give your best cs but even go overboard to get those ratings with extra positive comments in your early days.
@MeyTribe
@MeyTribe Жыл бұрын
Ohhh I can't "hack it" with Gimp, feels too slow or weird, I do have CSP which resembles photoshop. and yes, these are amazing softwares with great options, just sometimes making things with Kittl or Canva is simply faster... and yeah, many people "fall" for it, thinking Canva gives out great DPI... also a lot of people selling printables don't really know what that is... I can count over 100 people who started selling printables on Etsy writing 300 DPI cause "everyone is writing it" and they have no idea what it means. and yeah, Canva can't make CMYK, they are built for web design... not printing. I feel like so many people just don't realize that LOL love this comment :)

Very useful and informative comparison - that's information I will use in the near future. I would lean towards paid Kittl transferring to free Canva. Unfortunately my designs aren't text heavy enough usually to warrant moving out of my drawing program and I end up doing the lettering by hand...some day that will change. How much would your opinion on Canva change if they made their licensing easy to decipher? I really think text manipulation and font selection is underrated but then I used to develop graphics features for business software in my former life (in which text engines featured strongly for several years). :) Thanks for another great video!
@MeyTribe
@MeyTribe Жыл бұрын
Hand lettering is brilliant ! I need to practice that more with procreate, what software are you using? I think that if canva comes out with an easier licence to understand- it would def make it easier to use them, however,- that also depends on what that licence is LOL I can still make tutorials with them, if I add my own graphic elements or use CF ones... But I guess I got sucked into kittl, I just started using them and couldn't stop, the distort text feature and the effects that are better suited for my style really won me over :) also- the DPI control ! And yeah, so many people don't "appreciate" these enough, using the same basic fonts, or spending zero time trying to find the best font for a project,.
@verdedoodleduck
@verdedoodleduck Жыл бұрын
@@MeyTribe I'm using Sketchbook Pro (the former autodesk free version) - so it's all oriented towards drawing with a pen/mouse. It only has only has basic text and a general morph/stretch function. I can get some decent effects from that and a contrasting background (think: two copies of the text, red text on black background [text slightly skewed out from behind]) - which I usually use if I don't hand letter. Unfortunately Sketchbook does not have "text along a path" so some of my designs I've had to bow to the limitations of the software rather than hand lettering or finishing up in another program (such as the Zazzle editor). FYI - I did a set of musical symbols and staves by hand recently and [I do small or curved lettering jobs individually - but hand lettering is a lot of work as you know!] Not sure how easy it is to find a nice looking treble clef, etc. but if you (or anybody else reading this) needs some musical symbols maybe I have something that could do the trick (it's not packaged up for consumption at this point but I'm sure I could figure it out.) I meant gratis, of course.

Thanks for this video. I have been seeing Kittle videos from some other KZfaqrs that I watch and just avoided them because I already had Canva. I see now where I may be better served by Kittl. The lack of text distort in Canva is my big reason for shifting to Kittl. The trends demand that ability! I'm doing a monthly subscription right now, so I think I am going to cancel Canva and give Kittl a try before making the annual investment. I wish they did a pro version for free for a certain amount of time like Canva does.

I have been hearing so many different opinions on that matter, I honestly don't know- hence my issue with it. I recommend having a sit down and reading through their licencing, or even flat out contacting them and asking. I did that few weeks ago but didn't get a reply. will probably try again. But for now, it was just easier for me to "let it go" a bit when it comes to videos. If you can also afford kittl I recommend giving it a try, but don't wanna go into your wallet too much. There are still good things you can do with Canva, using basic/free elements, and fonts from CF for example. But yeah, it's a bit tricky. I will try to find time to go over their licence again...

The bells and whistles of Canva are distracting. I'm thinking that for me, Kittl is a better platform. I enjoy inserting my elements into the vintage looking templates and font manipulation is the hardest part for me so the easier it is, the more fun I'll have. I can't be bothered with all the licensing stuff either. Also, my first sale of my "new work" was of a kittl based design and I don't think I would have been able to do it without the help of the template (ask me in a year, I hope to outgrow the need for templates and start designing my own).
