I feel like 2 sizes up is more accurate. I'm a 34" and 36" belts only get me to the second belt loop. You should be on the third belt hole for a nice look. SO now I stick with 38"

There is no way you want a suit belt to be 1.5" wide, that is more the size you'd wear with jeans.

So confused right now. 1,5 inch is pretty wide for a dressbelt. Just measured my casual belt which comes at 1,5 inches and is quite wide. My dressbelt is 1.25 inch. Btw blonde looks good on you.

The proper width of a dress belt is 1.25" Casual is 1.5".... 1.75" or wider is for pirates. For those of you having trouble getting the correct belt size when buying online you need to measure your "actual' waist size. You cannot use the number on the the label of your pants, this is almost always 1 to 3 inches smaller than your real waist size. (vanity sizing) For example... I typically wear a 34 or 36 waist size on the label of my trousers but my actual waist size is 38. If a belt is measured from the center hole to where it attaches to the buckle then a 38 will fit me. A word of caution though. Some belt makers will measure the belt from the very end of the buckle to the center hole. (A more accurate measure.) If this is the case you typically add 1" to the length. So I would want a 39" belt If measured this way.

1.5” is super wide for a formal dress belt. It should be between 1.25” to 1.375”.

Belts do expand & becomes elongated in use so a 32 belt in d long run becomes 33 or more depending on d leather type.

The sizing for the belt isnt always as easy has pant size plus a size. For example i have a 36" pant size but the tape will show you a 44" measurement, in that case i get 46" belts, gets me the middle hole.

The men's dress belts are meant t be 1.25 inches wide and casual belts 1.5 inches wide. The video advice is *not* correct. If you insert 1.5 inch belt into business trousers you will see it is too wide. So 1.5 inches is good for jeans and chinos only but 1.25 inch will also look good on jeans and chinos as well as on business/formal trousers.

So short it doesn't look nice, the belt should cover almost all the width of the waist when you look from the front. It's also more likely that you'll get fatter than thinner. To the belt manufacturers: don't be lazy, make more holes!

I refuse to wear a belt that's more than 1.25" wide. Brooks Brothers makes a nice dress belt - a true dress belt - in black, dark brown, and burgundy. Sorry Ashley, but you're wrong.
