been fingerboarding for 22 years. I'm from Nicaragua. My first ten years into this, I only ride the classic Tech Deck (26 mm). That was all you could get around here. I then moved on to buy a wooden deck online from 4 Corner Fingerboards (29 mm). This was around 2010-2011, and like a year later, I bought a Yellowood complete (32x97). I have tried other decks from P-Rep and Fingersk8, but I always go back to my 32x97 Z3 Generation from Yellowood. It's crazy! I've been riding that set up since 2012 now. I have only changed the wheels once.

Thank you for the educational video. As a kid from the 90s growing up with the o.g. tech decks, and rediscovering fingerboards. I had no idea there were so many sizes to choose from. This greatly helps me understand that they are becoming more and more standard to real skateboards with different board and truck widths. It is a bit interesting that the norm now is foam griptape instead of regular griptape.

I personally use a 7ply 32x98mm Club 9 deck(filipino brand) with 32mm BRTs. The width is for easy flips, while the extra plies add weight to prevent over rotation. It's kind of balanced to use. The extra weight also adds that feel of having to work the board to get the tricks done, rather than a light board that is "too easy". Kind of like a manual vs automatic transmission in a car, where it feels better to shift gears yourself rather than boring ol' auto. I wouldn't mind riding wider decks as well. I have 2 other sets, both 34mm with ytrucks and dynamics of the same width. But I like my 32mm best 😀👌

I started at a 29mm deck and I think it's a great place to start because u have to be more precise on where u land with your fingers especially on flips to grinds, then move up to a 32 or 33 and u have more precision with your landing. Just my opinion

wider boards have more control but are harder to flick, I like to ride 32mm trucks so i ride 32mm to 33mm decks. Once you make the bump up to 34mm trucks It feels like it weighs me down

Bought my first _BerlinWood_ in 2003 - to discover real wooden fingerboard decks at a nearby Berlin skateshop blew our minds. _Winkler Wheels_ with true bearings (another mindblowing discovery) followed soon, but we had to keep buying techdeck oldschool cruisers just for their trucks because back then the decks had started to become wider while quality trucks wouldn't be around for a few years to come.

I use a 28mm board, they flip a lot faster and i for one am not a fan of the long floaty slow type flips i prefer to be precise and do small fast tricks especially for flips to grinds. Better to flip exactly to where u need to grind rather than catch it high then bring it down, looks a lot more realistic and clean imo, and a lot mprw rewarding to me.

I was in Tech Decks all my childhood and didn't even know about width or length of the board. Now I'm a grown man and I'm feeling about buying one board, do I have to start with Tech Deck, or just pay more and order something else or even custom?

So I get bored and watched again the part where she showed her decks, idk if that's all that she have or just some of hers. I counted it and its 30 decks. Right? Btw thanks for this vid, it's a big help for a beginner like me

it's better to compare or measure your fingers then buy what your fingers can handle for me I bought 34 mm because I have a long fingers and it's a waste of money if you'll gonna be experimenting what deck should you use .

I got a green 32mm board, shape is medium and oval shape, fyre trucks, wheels are from the tech deck performance series, I made the bushings, and the board has no brand. I just bought the board online on an app called lazada. The griptape is from fyre fingerboard v2 tape. seems to be a budgeted fingerboard if you ask me.
