Well explained. First time I clearly understood the teachings of Geeta, that, why we should work with detachment and without expectation of fruit. 'I' is the cause of all miseries and rebirth.

curious how can a liberated being be subject to Maya ... Maya is a functional concept of the material world the realm of physical body and sukshma sharira ... when I is no longer identified it either... the I is awareness , pure consciousness and merges with the Bahaman which isn't affected by Maya... beyond Karma which is still there until liberation and beyond Maya..the viel .. is Moksha

Great question :) and thank you for the kind words. Let me try and give an answer and be honest about it. In terms of traditional Darshanas, I resonate with Vedanta. And again, even here I have been questioned if I would prefer monism or qualified monism - Advaitha or Vishishtadvaita Based on my life experiences, I have seen that *at times* absolute monism devolves into pessimism. Qualified monism does give comfort but also has some pitfalls. In practice, it becomes too tied to a pronoun and the practitioner becomes devotional dualist (often times sectarian) with an over-reliance on grace. I consider my self a differentiated monist :). If you consider us to be seeds or sparks of the infinite, I do believe there might be various planes with the seed units similar to us at various phases of spiritual evolution. I believe some of these seed units have an action potency that might be able to guide even. This gives me comfort when I need it. Extending that, we go to a (probably the primordial) unit, the Ishwara, which is at the peak of its potential and has qualities of creation. In that case I can comfortably accept qualified monism without its pitfalls. And further full disclosure - the child in me wonders about the various tapestries that can be woven by the infinite consciousness (or the Ishwara) in its maya or lila and what the ability to explore these realms and interacting with various differentiated aspects of the supreme absolute (in a detached way) would mean - of course, keeping in mind that knowledge (gnana) of the unity of being alone leads to liberation and satchitananda.

@@dharmicperspective very nice and i think with this comfort and right view being established by qualified monism we can also get to know the real essence of absolute monism that we might be missing just as an archer misses his target by hurrying and not assessing the direction of wind and also i think that once the seed has reached its full potential of fruition then its only a question of distribution according to the need the fruit being the faculty of infinitude which can only be there if the seed has grown to its full potential in the first place.

Deep sleep is when there is no awareness. This is the state of Prajna where awareness ceases. Btw, if you can sleep for 16 hours you are either very tired or very blessed :).

According to the dharmic texts one attains the state of sat-chit-ananda - pure consciousness bliss. At this point all differentiation ceases. Of course, the experience is not something that can be described in words/with our material modes of understanding.

In our current times with our updated knowledge, couldn't we make a case that these bodies can now be defined as, 1. Physical. 2. Conscious and 3. Subconscious? All three of these seem to emerge after birth and in some cases, not till we accumulate a few years of life experiences. Many ancient texts talk about a soul. That part of us in charge of us when we aren't actively thinking about what we're doing in the background. They could drive their goats for miles down the road while thinking of something else. They would have called that the soul. We can drive across our territory while talking to our friends, and we get there just fine without thinking about the trip. We call that a well conditioned, sub-conscious. Our goal in life is to 'heal or cleanse or purify or empty or (similar)' our soul. The only way to do that, requires work in the brain by forgiveness and changing ones perceptions These have been my thoughts about the issue. When they describe the soul and we don't see it, we do see that our sub-conscious fits with their descriptions. And they had no idea what a brain even was. Just an idea.

Here is my response - As always, these are my personal observations based on my life experiences so take whatever makes sense to you :). I'd say the current day notions of consciousness are too tied to the material. Ancient dharmic texts, specifically the Upanishads, had very detailed descriptions of mind, intellect, subconscious etc. They knew about the brain, what the difference between buddhi and manas was (the intellect and the mind). In this three body doctrine specifically, the causal body is akin to the deep sleep state. It is not the subconscious. In Taijasa, the deep sleep state, there is nothing for consciousness (the infinite all pervading consciousness) to illuminate. So the causal body is the very seed unit that is in Avidyaa - ignorance of its true nature. That it is a part of the supreme absolute. The modern subconscious is something that is not in focal awareness. That is different from being altogether not illuminated by consciousness. In terms of the subconscious, it can be considered the chitta part of the subtle body that contains the samskaras and the vasanas. It does have identity, the ahamkara. You can ignore the trip but not the fact that there was an "I" that is talking to your friends. The Upanishads very clearly state that this is the waking states where there is awareness. In fact, even during the dream state the Upanishads states that we are aware of the fact that there was a dreamer. There is an observer. The Upanishad states that all these are erroneous awareness and the true nature of reality is Turiya. I have gone into more details of this on Mandukya Upanishad kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eN10lainvrmdZ30.html The aim of the ancient seers was to transcend reality and realize that we are a part of the supreme absolute. The fundamental premise was that consciousness is infinite and all pervading. Various schools had very high level philosophical discussions as they reached the question - why this dance takes place exploring concepts such as Advaitha, Vishistadvaitha, Anatha etc - You can check this out here kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pZyhe6p80K2xqpc.html The Kathopanishad - which is a must read summarizes this very simply as - The wise who knows the atman as bodiless seated firmly in perishable bodies, great and all-pervading does never grieve. They treat joy and sorrow, life and death, good and bad as one. For those who see difference it also states - They go from death to death who sees any difference here. I hope I made sense to you. Peace.
