the important thing about tan sao is that if you do it right, the opponent feels as if he gets pulled. If you can do this every 100 or so tan sao, then you are working in the right direction. The root of the thumb can hel accomplish that goal, it is somewhat easier to pull with the root of the thumb when your wrist is flexed, but it is not impossible without.

Second, SC crime rates are driven heavily by gang crime, which relies on illegal handguns. In no state in the U.S. is it legal for a 17 year-old to have and carry a handgun and yet they have them and shoot each other with them. And finally, any martial artist should know that the very concept of self-defense rests on liberty. A free man can defend himself. A slave can’t. @@JKDandWingChun I think we will have to respectfully disagree here. The genie is well and truely out of the bottle in the US, otherwise how did the 17 year olds get hold of guns? It's too late for the US to try and reduce guns in society. I don't see how the ability to carry a gun makes you a free man though, if anything it makes you a slave. A slave to the need to have a gun to protect yourself against other people with guns and a slave to the fear of the possible violence of the guns 'out there'. It's fairly unlike that the people of the UK would consider themselves slaves. In fact Britain is where the idea of not allowing tyrannical rule began with the Magna Carta

There’s no place you “can’t “ carry a gun or blade, but there’s places where it’s illegal, or not. The UK has a massive knife crime problem. The murder rates in the US are not geographically smoothly distributed, as there are pockets of extreme violence, in an otherwise safe continent. It’s generally a handful if cities, and even specific zones within those cities that skew the statistics. You walk around with a weapon whenever you go, it’s called your hands and feet. Anything that can be grabbed and swung at your head is a potential weapon, a weapon free society is pure make believe. Threat of violence has always been with us and always will be, and it is the responsibility of each individual to learn to defend themselves to the best of their ability. Slave vs free is a bit of extreme language, but it does highlight the idea that subjects have different rights than citizens, as the political philosophy or model is different, where the people themselves are considered to be the sovereigns, and the government governs by permission granted from the people.

First, since I was writing about using a weapon for self-defense, I thought it was incumbent upon me to provide the proper and logical moral framework for the issue. I did this - meticulously - upon the philosophical premise of liberty for all and the non-aggression principle (NAP). I simply asked that all self-defenders/martial artists vow to never initiate force against their neighbor directly or indirectly. This (NAP) is the only sound moral foundation upon which we can stand and the very premise of self-defense, after all. Your objection to my argument is to cite the crimes of a few in favor of the denial of self-defense rights to the many. In all, its an argument for tyranny because one is worried about anarchy. But, I do hope you’ll see, the answer to anarchy (violence by the individual) is never answered by tyranny (violence by the many). The answer is freedom and a proper understanding of the non-aggression principle. In closing, I do thank you again for your support and share your concern over the violation of the rights and safety of everyone. Where we differ, however, is in how to address the issue. I believe freedom and, therefore, self-defense as its corollary, are foundational rights for all. That was my argument in the book and I’m sorry it disappointed you. Best wishes,

No offense, not trying to be disrespectful but here is why weapons should be regulated and some not allowed. I have no problem with someone that wants a pistol for home defense. But people go crazy. If they go crazy and can grab say an AR-15, their is really not much anyone can do. Many people are going to die. I had a friend call me with her class hiding in the gym during parkland. When you limit certain weapons these bad guys will still go crazy and kill but they can’t get the numbers are less. Running over someone with a car or using a handgun is going to be a smaller number. A officer can charge in and limit the deaths. As far as tyranny, not only does that pretty much mean shooting at federal officers which we all agree should never happen, the person will lose. Any legal gun owner should have no problem registering their gun. This stops the insane amount of guns, around half, that are given away, or float around. I think your morals are fine, but I hope you can be open minded to the fact that floating guns in society hurt more than they help or protect us from some mythical fight against evil government
