Any manager, however great, needs the players to fully buy into his methods At some clubs, usually the types that see themselves as having some 'cast in stone' playing philosophy (even when they're rubbish), he's not done so well. Jose fosters a 'dogs of war' and 'siege mentality' amongst his teams and this can also spread to the fans. It's absolutely brilliant when everyone is on board with it. The team feels invincible and gets an incredible bond that they can overcome anything thrown in its path. But it does get intense and some players can't handle it. Jose too is a bit thin skinned and if he feels he isn't being given backing from the club hierarchy or certain players, he makes it known. Enjoy the ride.

He's doing good I'm not following Serie A but I think working with players that aren't overpaid brats like in England can help Mourinho always had good tactics he just loses the trust of the lockerroom every time.

The best part is that Tottenham is paying Mourinho’s salary at Roma.

For people thinking Italian football is still "parking the bus," they don't watch Italian football/Serie A or maybe don't understand the game. Serie A in recent years was the league to set the trend of teams regularly playing 3 defenders in 3-5-2 (or any 3 back combo) moving away from the common 4 defenders of recent decades (in any league). See Gian Piero Gasperini's Genoa circa 2013 and especially Atalanta in recent seasons. If you need more proof look at Luis Enrique's interview when he coached Roma about Garperini's influence on him. Italy didn't win Euro parking the bus and the Serie A hasn't played that way for years.

Italy is like a "time to reboot" transition for Mourinho. I feel like after getting sacked by Manchester United, Mourinho should've headed to Italy before managing Tottenham. The Italian league and Italian team seem to be a source of energy for Jose. He looks way more relaxed, less stressful, 10 years younger and seems so much more happier in Rome! Mourinho should spend maximum 3 seasons here and make the switch to international management. He isn't getting any younger and managing a country will be a minimum 7 years project (1x WC and 1X European Championship campaigns), which should be his last stop before retiring into the Mediterranean sunset!
