I want to address something that I already knew about when making the video. People that paid the full $300 were refunded $150 for each one they bought by TCGPlayer, but that wasn't important to the point I was talking about when it comes to the secondary market being destroyed for partner stores and streamers that will now be unable to sell their stock of single booster boxes, thus due to crash the market severely.

I feel like you summed up how 95% of metazoo collectors feel with the company. I got in the exact same time as you when ufo dropped. My first big release was seance and by the time my box arrived I had heard about mapping and it ruined the entire experience for me. I did buy Native too, but like you it's sitting unopened for some day when I'm bored. They really need to step back from trying to release 80 different products which feels like weekly and focus on the core sets. It's impossible to collect everything and keep up with obscure crossover collabs. I think they should make a deal with a massive streamer. Sadly if they're canceling events and not paying winners then you gotta wonder how the finances are at metazoo hq. The last thing that kinda kills metazoo is so many people buy into it as investments. Slapping 1st edition on the products was the smartest move metazoo made. With all the delays and horrible PR i don't see how much longer this TCG will exist. How much longer can people say this next set is really the make it or break set? I hope they correct course, but I wouldn't hold my breathe.

The delay of products combin with the cancel of caster cup and non payment to some other event kind of suggest that they are having huge cash flow issuem

I bought CN1 when it came out but haven’t really cared about buying since. A lot of the reason is I’ve paid very close attention to the tcg community and every meta zoo release has had an issue since wilderness. I would pick the occasional $40 wilderness or ufo box to let my old lady open. $1 packs you really can’t go to wrong. But I don’t know if it’s a glimmer of hope but after the price drop of the 2 box collectors packs I went and bought 3 kits. I think that’s is fair price for Christmas presents. Then I went and bought 6 nightfall boxes then I went and bought a ton of singles. To be a person that isn’t invested in metazoo and coming into the community now is actually pretty sweet.

I agree with all the points you made about metazoo in this video! And yeah that roadmap went completely off course. Someone else's video on the streamer kit suggested why not just ship them without the missing piece and just replace it with something else like a special promo. I also agree that they need to be more transparent with problems which will help in the long run.

This video sums everything up perfectly. Great Job! I just don't understand how they don't see all of this. It seems like an extremely easy fix to turn all of this around. Communication. That is all. The KZfaq thing has always blown my mind. There should be weekly video updates, interviews, behind the scenes, etc.... It's 2024. The internet is only the most powerful tool available! Use it! Another thing that nobody talks about is the poorly designed website. The website doesn't offer any insight to what the game is, what the characters are, what products have been released, what products are coming out, etc. It is hard to get a feel for what MetaZoo is by looking at the website. They have so much art and content to build an extremely strong content filled website...yet they don't. Why?

I wonder what MetaZoo’s reaction to the price cut is, I think it was TCG Players decision to cut the price and not MetaZoo’s….I did preorder other boxes and paid msrp but had amazing hits but I agree it’s like wtf if I knew this was going to be $150 I wouldn’t have preordered. It’s a moment in time and the crash of this set is coming, by New Years booster boxes would be lucky to sell for $60. MetaZoo just put up another preorder ahahaha where’s our streamer kits ??? And Christmas set ? Lol not yet…another problem is Kuromis Cryptid Carnival is a Halloween set just before Christmas. If this was a Christmas set it would sell a lot better as a present. I’m loving buying the dip but MetaZoo is in huge trouble, hopefully Sanrio grabs the steering wheel soon. Or maybe if maybe if Mike comes flying back like a super hero and saves the day.

I'll be honest: I had the feeling that Metazoo was going too big too soon from the beginning. The Sanryo deal fits with that impression, but even their original schedule felt too packed for their own good. I'm not entirely surprised they weren't able to stick to it. I hope they can learn from their mistakes (let alone see and acknowledge them properly) but as an external viewer it doesn't look good. If there's one market already oversaturated with huge risks of crashing and burning it's the TCG market (the videogames parallel is on point). Hopefully they'll be able to get back on track, but the signs are not promising.

Great video, very informative and well explained. As a casual fan, basically Chrome collector, I felt so excited by Chrome only to be disappointed at how hard it was to purchase. The other frustration was how difficult it was to find info about restocking or additional sets coming out. I heard about a second series of topps chrome coming out in September which unfortunately never happened.

Honestly they have spread themselves to thin!! I feel the exact same way about loosing faith in metazoo I was so excited getting into it but since not receiving the streamer kits I refuse to spend any more money on products! I hope they can pull it back but I am extremely doubtful. It’s sad that they act like they really listen to fans and interact but when something goes wrong we get radio silence! Absolute shambles! Great video brother, I think everyone is panicking over the 50% off on the collectors bundle. I believe it was just a limited time holiday sale, I don’t think it was an intentional Dump. Now other sellers are trying to compete with those prices taking a loss. I still have faith in metazoo, truth is it’s up to us content creators/Fans/players/ and investors to keep it alive and Going for the future. I totally agree with your point of view though. You would be surprised! I'm a sanrio collector and a lot of us collect cards, sanrio even sells these wafers that have collectible cards in them that are pretty saught after. I bought the kuromi box to hunt for the My Melody cards but yea I wouldn't say I'm very interested in the franchise itself. I've always known about MetaZoo, the art style wasn't really for me but opening MZ for the first time was a good experience and I would buy more sets in the future if they made other sets that appeal to girls like me.

Oh maaaaan, I just now see this video and the Sanrio collab ;_; I agree though, even Sanrio has sub collectors, some people only focus on Hello Kitty, or Kuromi, or My Melody, etc, and within that, there's too much Sanrio merch to collect to even consider cards that are hard to display (sure, possible in a frame, but hardcore collectors hardly have wall space left). I'd love to collect some cards if prices go down or a reprint happens, but it surely muddies the soul of Metazoo- its own artwork and card game rules that just got washed away with generic Sanrio characters (let's face it, I've seen Hello Kitty sitting in the same position for 30 years, nothing special about that set)....

I’d they actually followed this original roadmap this year would have been crazy for metazoo. The hype for what was supposed to come was high. They dropped the ball so hard. Feels like they are trying to lean on the die hard fans so much to keep pumping stuff out rather than grow and bring new people in.

I agree with everything in this video. They need to do better as a company. It is very frustrating and irresponsible to keep consumers/collectors and players in the dark. Lots of people really love Metazoo and we want to keep it that way, but Metazoo can't keep their word on anything. It's like they are digging themselves a hole they won't ever get out of. People are loosing confidence in this trading card game.

Mike and Andy would never do this. Seems like either Pride or Ego gets in the way. I do like the idea of the product but I hate they haven't been able to address any chronic issues.

Something weird happened to me that made me leave Metazoo. I never talked about this openly but my gut saved me. I was seeing negative comments about Metazoo that weren't deleted under Gary Pokemons page. They were talking about how Metazoo is selling new cards under a private eBay page. And that there were more sample cards than meets the eye. Rumors of the expensive cards being printed behind the scene to be sold on that account too. I commented saying i was gathering proof and to dm me evidence. The same night Mike Waddell reached out to me just to talk... i felt like i was being bribed to be silent. No way it was a coincidence. A few years later, this happened.

Providing no apologies, no attempts to make things right, and going as far as to time out or potentially ban members of the community that were discussing the issue of booster boxes that could be mapped (likely in order to protect the sales of the product) is extremely alarming. I've never collected for MZ but I do have interest in many other small TCGs, so I tend to try and keep track of how other games are doing and to see if at some point it sparks my interest. But honestly after watching this video I think even if MZ released a product that looked interesting to me that I would pass. This kind of behavior from the company puts them on a never buy list for me.

The fact some of the most pricey promos in the game are Rudy promos is super embarassing. You had Gary King Pokemon saying his prerelease cards are worth a Tesla in a video a while back too. Turns out he was literally given those and on the companies pay roll. Awful optics.

I feel pretty much the opposite, at least with the secondary-market culture.. Incredibly happy and surprised the overpriced boxes got cut, definitely didn't expect a massive 50%.. Like PoKeMoNs $300 orica set of original cards, there was no way I was gonna touch a box for $300.. nonsense to me.. Now I find myself having to 'not' click the buy button on a Kuromi box.. lol!.. and I never really cared for the Sanrio.. Almost restores my faith a little bit that this game can actually spread into the hands of 'new' people.. then truly 'new' players can actually join in.. Idk.. I kinda think it'd be best to lower prices all around making it the most affordable TCG to get into.. all shops, all around.. Then the only people that would care would be those Hip to only high value TCGs, i/e overly obsessing over capitalizing.. 📈capitalizing off of the fanbase... 🤑 Seems the secondary market needs to die a bit right neow..📉 So.. lets just let it.. That being said I am definitely saddened by some of my favorite Artists leaving.. 🎨 Really had an inkling to get an extra few signed from Poncho at the Dark Tower..
