You know the guy who made this could have used the breathing thing as a symptom of the virus & that the immunity was the result of their bodies adapting to the planet they were on, thus they ended up breathing in a way that seems unnatural (but was do to them growing up on a planet other than Earth)! Still I think the breathing was a cheap way for the creator to do jiggle physics!

I can kinda see what the creator was going for in this movie. I think he wanted one of those endings that made the audience shocked, like how infinity war shocked us. So... they stole IP from Forbidden Planet, the pianist was a knock off Cyberman from Dr Who, the military spaceship was a Gamelon cruiser from Space Cruiser Yamato, I believe the escape ship is from Star Citizen and the computer displays are TNG. Which makes the whole thing really quite comical. I honestly don’t think it’s that bad.
