Authoritarian states may seem more stable, but they're also more fragile in that they require massive amounts of direct pressure/coercion from the centralized figurehead at the top just to maintain the status quo; One domino falling can knock the whole system down. Democratic or libertarian type states exhibit a decentralized/distributed capacity for problem solving that ensures diversity in strategies for overcoming existential risks. It's kind of like the advantage of having multiple different types of crops instead of one monocrop culture in the event that some parasite evolves to destroy that specific crop. The decentralized approach exhibits more antifragility.

Very true!!! PS: Has the leader of Afghanistan reported the cash entry in Customs Declaration upon arrival, in whatever country he landed)? Has he reported the source of income to the bank where he deposited one helicopter of cash? Are the country and the bank members of international treaties/agreements to fight corruption, money laundering, and so on? The answers are pretty obvious. One of the lessons learned is when you offer consultancy fees and shares of oil mines to the right people- you are guaranteed to be called WISE and the LEADER (subject to not to kill your own people in sizeable scale). And, of course, is in return to save heaven in the West. The second lesson is that he had not learned lessons from his own past. История с Кунаевым, человеком который называл его сыном.

How you exactly define which country is democratic and which one totalitarian.Eric had a video topic in which his example didn't satisfy me.You showed one picture of Saddam Husein where people were saying Ala ho Akbar.You wanted to say people didn't like their leader .They were not worried that he is being killed by American regime. Mass sometimes can't evaluate something which is being provoked by other foreign countries, for their own benefits against native people.Which ruins the life of people of that country.Ex Iraq,Syria,Libya,,,,:I have talked to many Iraqi people in England,in Armenia,in Iran they all say during Saddam we lived better.They feel measurable now.

There is no strict definition or criteria, but some experts have already tried to categorize countries by their level of "democracy." One very good criteria was written by Robert A. Dahl, who used four terms to describe the governing category of countries, and put six conditions for a country to be a full democracy. You might wanna take a look at it.

Eric, I am as always impressed with your intelligence and expertise. However I am confused. It seems to me that you are proponent of the Russian authorities in the region. Isn’t it obvious that Russia is not doing a good job protecting artsakh? Why you never mention the possibility of the international peace keepers? Wouldn’t they be more objective and efficient?
@AA-os2bf
@AA-os2bf 2 жыл бұрын
The presence of international peacekeepers could hurt Armenia more than the sole presence of Russian peacekeepers. For an international operation, both parties need to accept the presence. If this happens, it would threaten Russia's interests in the region and Putin would distrust Armenia's reliability as a partner, much like what happened in Armenia's foreign policy from 2018-2022. There is no subjectivity in peacekeeping in tactical terms. Peacekeepers adhere by strict international rules. As much as Russia is operating in Armenia's favor on the strategic and operational levels, pro-Armenian subjectivity by soldiers on the ground could trigger an Azeri diplomatic (or even a limited military) response.

The OSCE Minsk group was ignored by Armenia years before the 2nd war started, then suddenly after the war Armenia saw the usefulness of OSCE.

@@mannequinofscots5246 The Madrid principles and many more proposals before it we're rejected by Armenia, not because it would not lead to resolution but because the status quo suited Armenia. Let us put some perspective here sending 100 Armenian troops to Kazakhstan out of 6,000 is like giving giving a 10 cent tip at a restaurant. Not doing it would have been detrimental. I think that was a wise decision. Besides those troops were used to secure vital positions and not against Kazakh citizens.
