Although I’ve been taking calcium, d3, vit c, zinc and magnesium for past 6 years the biggest increase in my bone density is that I started walking every day and play pickleball about 2 or 3 times a week. Find an exercise you enjoy and do it💪. At my latest dxa scan my spine increased 12%! I was so excited. We can reverse this without the toxic drugs.

May I ask whether you are on estrogen replacement therapy for menopausal symptoms?

@@cm1906 no. I’ve never taken any hormone replacements. I never had very bad symptoms.

You are very fortunate. I’m a 73 year old male who has teetered on the scale between osteopenia and osteoporosis….until my latest DEXA scan which shows a 8.5% loss in my spine. I’ve walked 4-5 miles per day for many years, good diet, calcium, multi & D3?supplements. Have just learned the walking does very little. I’ve failed by not doing resistance training.

Congratulations! How are you holding up one year later? Where did you start on your DEXA to have that 12% increase in your spine? Thanks.

I found this video very informative, thank you so very much, as I was searching the web today looking for Dr. Lindsay to see who my Dr. wanted me to consult with, I came across it. Bone loss is a very scary thing to hear you have and so is making a long term decision on what medications is best to use to help me, without so many side effects. Listening to Dr. Lindsay explain everything in this video and his approach to help his patients has helped setting up an appointment to go see him easier, besides learning there is the CTX blood test that can be used to check your bone health, which I did not know.

Thank you, this talk has given me very important information which I can use to discuss with my doctor next month, regarding my osteoporosis problem and my prolonged taking of medication.

Having seen so many customers in the retail supplement business with osteoporosis, it seems very little is known what is behind bone decline. Dosc just seem to prescribe vit d, calcium, magnesium and or meds. From what I see nothing is really working. The strange thing that caught my attention is many appear to be eating healthy and exercising. It is not working. I believe certain situations leave you more prone to bone loss than just blaming it mostly on hormones. Over exercising is bad news, drinking too much coffee or tea is bad news as it seems to leach out nutrients, being vegetarian is possibly the quickest way to get osteoporosis plus a host of other problems, keeping your microbiome healthy is critical as stomach issues seem to go hand and hand with osteoporosis. Calcium should be only taken in small doses if at all with your diet. Doctors are pretty much clueless and seem to only offer meds as a solution. Dexa scans should be mandatory for both men and women yrs before what is recommended. Too many customers suffering from osteoporosis, getting fractures from no apparent injury. It is crazy. Caffeine maybe the greatest offfender in my eyes.

Yesterday, my PCP told me that blood markers are only used in research, never in clinical practice.
