Coming out of Washington State I loved this kid. He played under Leach and pass protection was so good coming out, I know due to injuries that hurt him but damn he should be so much better.

He lacked so much in run blocking being form WS . i loved his abilities out of college and scouted him deeply from that program . The fear was always if he would be able to be a next level run blocker but in reality he has struggled with faster edge rushers more than anyone imagined . All that smooth pass set up framework he had coming out of Washington State has broken down on him since then . His biggest strengths wear that of his leg kick and pass sets . Right now he seems to have lost his way with footwork and hand placement and gets beaten by NFL pass rushers far to often . I do not know if he can be saved at this point. He has a lot of bad habits he has picked up since College while trying to correct other issues . He would have been well served to have a redshirt season in the NFL under a solid line coach . Bad coaching hurt him as well as far to high of expectations coming out of WS . He was never a day one starter. His lacking in run blocking was so bad and not NFL ready given Washington State did next to no running in his time there that he was doomed to fail . If he had fallen to a better blocking coach who did not need him to start day one on the most important part of a line I assume his NFL experience would be different. I think he is much to broken now and rarely see guys from his position group who have failed this bad turn it around at LT . I would assume he is headed to the UFL before to long .

I think this might be Sean Rhyan’s competition at RG. Im sure Packers view him as a Guard and a swing tackle having the experience. Packers need depth at OL im sure this gives them peace of mind to go in the draft not needing to be reach for OL prospects in the higher rounds. They can basically go in the draft and take BPA at this point and draft Talent over needs. Great move Packers 👏🏼

This is definitely a good signing. Packers are trying to beef up the OL, and he will make a good extra body to bring into the game for obvious running downs

Depth signing. Dillard at 28 years old is actually the oldest offensive player on the roster. Still plenty of room on the roster to add draft picks after losing Runyan and Nijman in free agency as well as the Bakhtiari release

Dillard was coached by the NFL's best OL Coach, Jeff Stoutland, for years. He had years to improve his technique. He likewise could've moved inside to Guard, if he'd looked like a starting G. He just couldn't do it. Anyone who still struggles with technique after years in Stout U, learning from the vets he's played alongside, simply doesn't have it.

The Packers play a different style of offensive line pass protection. They don’t punch. They intentionally catch the defenders and let them get into the blocker’s chest. It is called the hug technique. That would stop most of the oversetting. It is also how they get away with having Tackles with shorter arms than other teams prefer. Dillard has the run blocking techniques down and the Packers pass blocking technique would fix his issues.

Low risk / no risk depth signing. Packers do well with OL and it didn’t cost much to try and unlock his first round potential

I see this signing as a test. He was a first round pick for a reason. It is a flyer on the Packers part to see if they can turn his athleticism into what he was expected to be when drafted. If not, I don’t think they are out that much.

They will bring him in as an extra offensive lineman and maybe special teams. This is a good signing with how depleted our OL room is.

Man I like this, even if he’s not great, the packers are great at developing o line and we’ve got the pieces to put a nice unit on the field I think. Plus we’ll have an o line draft pick or two just depending on how the chips fall

No! I been a Packer fan for 40 years. These last 3-4 years is the first time in forever GB has done anything like bring in another teams trash. We are the biggest draft and develop team in the nfl. Even our manager go on to become great. Do so research my friend!

What? Packers have drafted (or got as a UDFA) every one of their LGs for over a decade. There was a 3-year run from '17-'19 where they were patching RG with free agents, but before and after it's been their guys as well.

As an Eagles fan, I've watched enough of him, lol. His biggest problem is that he cannot anchor, at least consistently. As a tackle, if you cannot anchor, your are done. Forget about the power, the movement, the agility, the athleticism...does not matter. His technique is actually fine, at least not bad by any means. By the way, there's no way he plays guard, the Eagles tried it, even worse than his tackle play. He's a LT and LT only. You move him anywhere else in the O-Line it is a disaster.

You are the first person i have heard call his run blocking a strength. His biggest strength coming out of Oregon St. was pass blocking. Interesting take. Encouraging.

Titans fan here with my 2 cents. Can't quite agree that he has good strength and bad athleticism. He does show decent strength when blocking forward, but horrible when blocking backwards (anchor). That bad anchor could be mitigated some by better technique, but like you said, he's a bad technician still. His athleticism is why he keeps getting looked at at OT. His explosion off the snap and ability to quickly get depth in his pass set are top tier. In fact I've said even going back to his Eagles days that he needed to slow it down a bit, which is such a weird thing to say about an OT because you normally want more ability in that regard. I thought he'd have a chance in TN since he didn't have a ridiculous amount of competition to beat out like in Philly (Jason Peters, Lane Johnson, Jordan Mialata....wow), but he failed. I will say this, I don't think our OL coach did him any favors. I was curious if they'd consider keeping him as a backup with new OL coach/guru Bill Callahan, although he'd have to take a paycut...he was released a few days before a 3 million dollar bonus. But maybe even Bill is saying that if you haven't learned better technique at this point, it's likely never to come.

Do we know what his dominant hand is?? Because from the small amount of film it looks like it might be the left hand. All the "bad" plays I feel it's his right hand is lacking. Maybe I'm wrong, I'm just a fan 😂🤣 Not a coach or player. But on the "eye" test, it looks like he is left-handed. I think he should get moved inside. Especially with what you showed on what he does on run blocking. But again, I'm just a fan 🤣😂. I trust GB, given the "history" on how interested they were in the year he got drafted. This bohemith of a Man could be our starting RG this year. I wouldn't be mad at that, js!! I definitely think this is a great signing. Worst case scenario, it's just more competition on the OL. Which is NEVER a bad thing!! I'm telling you, Gents!! I got real vibes of a Superbowl this year!! And we gotta get past that dreaded 13 Championships!! Rodgers never had the grit and heart needed. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved him in the REGULAR season, I did... Even though his physical skills should have translated 2 or at least 3 Superbowls!! I really think J Love has that "Killa Instinct" like Montana, Brady, and Mahomes, JS The Jets messed up... No WAY, Rodgers brings a Superbowl win to the Jets!!!! I would bet my house on that, js!!!!

Dillard came out of Washington State who ran 1 time for every 25 passes . So that meant his run blocking ability was the big ? and not his pass blocking . Somehow in the weird world of the NFL Dillard flipped and is now a good Run blocker but cannot seem to get right as a Pass rusher. His draft status was greatly inflated by his strong combine production . Then he was drafted to a team who uses the running game more than 85% of the rest of the league . It was a bad fit from the start and his being drafted so early forced him into the lineup at the primo LT position facing the best the NFL has to offer for pass rushers and he was simply not ready for that . Had Green Bay had gotten him when he came into the league I would assume 2 things . They would have moved him to RT and he would not have started a game until he was ready . He would be considered one of the leagues best RTs and would not be working on hope he sticks with the Packers in a desperation attempt to save his career. He was poorly handled no doubt with coaching . However the player who I scouted in college seems lost in this new version of Dillard . He has bad footwork on his sets more than he does not and that is the opposite of the player who was Washington States best ever LT prospect . I do not know is a player this broken can be as humble as a Rasul Douglas who attributes the Packers coaches for saving his career and teaching him how to be the player he wanted to be. It takes a special kind of humble to allow everything you know to be scraped for the new way and historically not many NFL players can do this . Will the Packers get that out of Dillard and change him before is is just another Tackle playing in the UFL? Time will tell .

The Eagles tried just about everything with him & Jeff Stoutland’s one of the best if not the best OL coach in NFL. They tried moving him to RT, LT & G. Just didn’t work he was uncomfortable at RT. So he was used as LG/LT backup. I hoped he’d figure it out & maybe in a situation where he could start would help. Maybe he puts it together for your team. Wish him the best

This is an example of why I'm leary of Howie R drafting tackles. I hear that like Guyton. I think Guyton is very similar in demeanor to Dillard. Has the physical tools but don't seem to put it all together.

Dickerson 2nd rd pick, jergens (playing out of position) 2nd rd pick, seumalo (3rd pick now on steelers), vaitai now with Detroit 5th rd, Jason kelce 7th rd, lane Johnson 1st rd,. The majority of olinemen coached by stoutland have become very good players, especially the ones drafted in higher rounds. Maybe Dullard is just a bum.

@@justwait9822 Well now you're making a different point...and it actually counters your original one. Maybe even a 7th rnd rugby player can have success under a coach that good... Anyway besides that, just saying Dillard had a great coach and didn't start isn't a profound statement either. There's 2 HOF OT's there in Philly when Dillard got there. Then Mialata quickly becomes one of the best in the league. There's maybe never been as much talent for a team at OT in that time frame. Ever. They also had good talent at OG, so it's not just as simple as saying "just move him inside". I do think he would possibly struggle more inside with his lack of strength, so it's possible Stoutland thought the same.

Because Dillard is NOT a Guard . That is why no one wants to move him there . There are only so many men with the prefect size and weight to play on the LT spot . Dillard is that . I could see him moving to RT but not inside.

He can’t play RT that why the Eagles moved away from him and he can’t play G either , dude is mentally soft. Eagles have best O Line coach in the business and he couldn’t coach him up, that tells it all to me
