What The Tennis Community Really Thinks Of Emma Raducanu
Emma Raducanu is a British professional tennis player that became famous after her magical run to win the 2021 U.S. Open after qualifying for the tournament from a wild card spot. Emma's journey to her first U.S. Open title was celebrated by legends and current players. However, after struggling with injury, Emma has received criticism about her work ethic. A few tennis legends feel she has a championship attitude by playing matches while hurt. One current player feels Emma is facing a difficult environment of constant pressure from the press and social media. However, most feel like Chris Evert that Emma has untapped potential because she is still so young and raw.

I am a Boomer and she is the first tennis player I am willing to watch in 40 years. She is my son’s age and I think she has a remarkable personality and her skills at 18 are priceless. Watch out -Emma in the coming years is going to be a top player. 🙏 for health this year, hers not mine.🥳

She is the epitome of love for sport and the game. She has been playing competitively for years and is still in good spirits. Her "it" factor and composure says it all. She’s really working hard to improve. I quite like her. She seems genuine and has the right idea. I hope she continues to improve. I don’t see any reason to dislike her. Women’s tennis needs players like her. It doesn’t hurt that she’s quite attractive. I don’t know if she will ever get back to appearing in finals matches but she’s trying her best. I hope she succeeds.

After Pete Sampras won his first slam, he went away for a while, meaning, he didn't have very good results for a few years after that first major. Then look what happened. It's way too soon to start writing this young lady off. She seems like a very nice young lady and I wish her all the best. And even if she is just a "one slam wonder" after all is said and done she made incredible history by being the only person to ever come up through the qualies and win a major, and doing it without dropping a set.

Great tennis player. Handled the totally unexpected US open win admirably I would say. At the time she wasn't even sure if she wanted to be a tennis player. Finishing high school was more important. Very level headed young woman. And being a boomer, I can tell you she has lots of fans of all ages.

Winning the US Open after only a few months of playing as a full time pro as a qualifier...10 consecutive matches without dropping a set! Quite a feat don't you think!? And only 18 yo. More than the vast majority of pros will/have accomplish(ed) the in their entire careers...And she's just starting! I think she's got a shot at being great...A good shot! Let's see how it is 3-5 years from now. All the recent setbacks might be discouraging but are normal. She set the bar very high by winning the US Open so early in her career. No need for the British Media to try to to destroy one of their own. Seems to be the case though... So sad.

She seems to be a nice enough girl and I agree that at the US Open, she certainly played some decent tennis. The regular dropping of her coach of the day, the heavy focus on sponsorship and promotional events and the increasingly regular injury issues (sadly only when she's losing) suggest that she's either being poorly advised (in tennis and physical terms) or it could be that there are a few deeper issues that will need to be addressed if her tennis legacy is going to be more than a "one hit wonder". There's time to sort these things out of course. Hopefully, she'll get a few wins and her confidence will return. If not. she may be well advised to change direction completely...

I am mostly a critic of how she has been praised by the British press and held on high by sponsors. It was a bit much and perhaps overwhelming for her. She won the US open. It was bizarre in that a girl ranked 170th met a girl ranked 70th in a Slam final. When has that ever happened? The top seeds all failed to play to their seeding. Kind of wonder what seeding really means in today's game. I do believe that she had an easier run to the final but her opponents fell in straight sets. As outstanding as her accomplishment was, I prefer to see how she performs long term. Her game has great potential so there is no reason why she will not improve. Through 2022, she was a victim of injuries and her ranking fell dramatically. If her injuries are restricted to blisters and other minor issues, she will see better days. If she has back issues, tennis will not be kind. Give her time and lets see how she does.

Another anti Emma Raducanu BS video tag. There are plenty that like her cause that is exactly what she is, likeable! Most only want for her to come through her surgery to be well - have those areas of her physicality as a result of the surgery not be holding her back anymore, and succeed. She is still so young and with that endearing personality and smile truly deserves to be able to play and be the force in tennis that post this surgery, most decent individuals would want her to be.

So Emma has made so many mistakes it's ridiculous. The first was getting rid of Andrew..And now we know he didn't want to go. I'm assuming this was a parent choice. Now she is in a wheel spin with coaches and injury,, Emma will be world number one in 8 years and fighting in around 4.. She needs to heal and get a great coach which will take 2 years.. She's going to start from the bottom and I can't wait to see that because Emma on form is just about unbeatable esp that back hand it's flipping awesome 🙂

Emma had a wonderful tournament to win the US open. It sometimes happens that a surprise player wins and she is one of those. Unfortunately the big sponsors and the press, British press in particular, has no idea how to behave. Their only goal is to make money for themselves so they hail Emma as some kind of world wonder. Imagine how difficult that must be for any normal teenager and what pressure it puts them under. I think she will hopefully begin to work her way up once the focus is taken off her. As Martina said, "A star is born" but we don't put a new-born under so much pressure and give them too much attention if we want them to develop in a healthy way.

I´m not saying she did not deserve the title, she did. She won it by beating only 1 seeded player in the entire tournament!!! Belinda Bencic! Fair enough. She had a good run, benefitted from having a very easy draw during a tournament plagued by the pandemic. Again, she´s a good player but faced by harder competition the following year she bowed out in straight sets in the 1st round!!! She´s not ready. Give her a year or two working her way through the WTA, facing real competition, sticking with her team and I´m sure she will start winning again. Having said that, I still think the 2021 run, though awesome, was a fluke.

You're wrong on so many levels. It's not Emma's fault if all the top seeds fell by the wayside to players that Emma eventually defeated. She defeated Rogers in straight sets after Rogers took out the top seed and world no1 and tournament favourite for the title Ash Barty!🤣. Also,Emma defeated 2 seeded players,not1, as you incorrectly stated, she also defeated the 17th seed Maria Sakkari in the semifinals as well. And lastly she defeated the last player left standing Fernandez in straight sets like all of Emma's previous victims. You make a big thing about Emma not beating or meeting many top seeded players. But you missed one big important crucial point- Emma was a qualifier ranked 150 at the time and all the players she beat were all ranked considerably higher than her, seeded or otherwise, as well as way more experienced than the rookie Emma only in her second Slam attempt and a few months on the WTA tour after finishing her final school exams in the summer. So for Emma to beat Bencic in straight sets who was not only ranked 11 but was also the reigning Olympics champion who had won 13 out of her last 14 matches is akin to an amateur club boxer knocking out Tyson Fury for the world title!🤣 lastly, the pandemic made no difference to the tournament because 19 of the top 20 players were present including all the top names like Barty,Osaka,Jabeur, Iga,Bencic,Sabalenka, Sakkari,Pliskova, etc. In a nutshell, Emma's US Open win is anything but a fluke!
