Under rated album too. I'm not even into this music, but when this song came out, I bought his CD, it was one of my first ever CD's. The album is excellent from start to finish, so much variety and style and funk, maybe funk is the wrong word. It's still one of my favourites to this day.

It's too bad you didn't show the actual video of Snow but I always thought this was a cool song since the beginning. Snow was a white rapper/raggae singer who grew up in a Jamaican area of Toronto and wasn't shy to do the dialect in his songs(since its how he grew up) thx for sharing Brad & Lex :)
@crhu319

I can testify that this patois and beat are absolutely authentic. You could walk three blocks in St James Town, Regent Park, or Jane Finch and the idioms and inflections are different. Caribbean descendants in the Toronto projects set the tone...but the patois spread rapidly as a kind of code talk outsiders had trouble penetrating ... The best explanation I can offer is the Star Trek: Next Generation episode "Darmok", where the Enterprise encounter a people whose language can't be translated without common experience, because it's all metaphors and idioms on shared stories. In under an hour you learn enough of it that the final few lines spoken back to the "Tamarians" are fully comprehensible. And that's what was like spending an hour with Toronto street kids. If you didn't do something with them, you simply couldn't understand them. And that was absolutely deliberate.

My friend used to work at a Blcokbuster Video in Scarborough near the intersection of Kennedy Rd and Sheppard Ave across the street from Agincourt Mall. Snow ran up some crazy late charges and they had to suspend his account. When he tried to rent and they wouldn't let him he pulled the "Do you know who I am?" shit. While we all look back fondly at this song, it was a banger when it first came out, then it quickly became super lame. The remix of Anything for you with Buju Banton and several other reggae stars of the 90's is still amazing.

Except he isn’t. The only reason he didn’t get much commercial airplay in the US was because he was banned from stepping foot on US soil due to attempted murder charges in Canada. Snow had a HUGE international following.

Licky boom boom down is Jamaican slang for taking someone out. In this case it’s about taking out a snitch who falsely accused Snow of a crime.
