I met Don years ago when he was on local TV in Philly. He was covering a story of parents coming from China with their newly adopted daughters on Thanksgiving night. My friends were one of the parents coming home. He talked with us while we were waiting for the plane. That was when you could actually wait at the gate.

CNN did a disservice to viewers when they fired him. He may have had his own opinions as we all do but his reporting was accurate. I loved his style and occasional humor. I miss him. I no longer watch CNN but enjoy watching Chris Cuomo on News Nation where he’s doing a great job!

SO, really I am not surprised. I knew it was not going to work with him and Katlin. He should have recognized she was on a fast track and CNN loves her. Poppy, just always looked liked she was just glad to be there. I like Don Lemon. I believe he was on a plane I took a couple of days ago from Louisiana to Georgia. He had a mask on, but I am pretty sure it was Don, but he closed his eyes to rest when I passed him. I did not want to bother him. I feel badly about his firing.

I was saddened and outraged by the news of Lemon’s firing from CNN. He was one of my favorite anchors and I admired his courage and honesty in covering the issues that matter. He had a unique and valuable perspective as a Black gay man in America, and he was not afraid to challenge the status quo and speak truth to power. He also had a great sense of humor and a warm personality that made him relatable and engaging. I always looked forward to watching his show and hearing his opinions on various topics. I think he made a mistake with his comments about Haley, but I don’t think it warranted such a harsh punishment. He apologized for his remarks and agreed to undergo training to address the incident. He also faced accusations of misogyny from some of his colleagues, but he denied them and there was no evidence to support them. I think he was unfairly targeted and scapegoated by the network, especially after his heated interview with Ramaswamy, a controversial Republican candidate who made some outrageous claims about the history of Black Americans. Lemon defended himself and his community with passion and dignity, but he also faced backlash from some viewers and executives who did not like his tone or style. I think he deserved more respect and transparency from the network, especially after working there for 17 years. He said he was stunned by the decision and that he was not given any indication that he would be fired. He also said he was not offered an opportunity to meet with management, contrary to what CNN claimed. I think this was a disrespectful and unprofessional way to treat someone who had dedicated so much of his time and talent to the network. I hope he finds another platform where he can continue to share his voice and perspective with the public. I will miss him on CNN, but I will follow him wherever he goes. He is an inspiration and a role model for me and many others who appreciate his work and his character.
