Black men sure, but in the grand scheme of politics in Canada “Asian women (and men) were not granted suffrage until after World War II in 1948, Inuit women (and men) were not granted suffrage until 1950, and it was not until 1960 that suffrage (in Federal elections) was extended to First Nations women (and men) without requiring them to give up their treaty status. Incarcerated women (and men) serving sentences fewer than two years in length were granted suffrage in 1993, and incarcerated women (and men) serving longer sentences were given the vote in 2002.” (en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Women%27s_suffrage_in_Canada) Furthermore, “[n]on-status Indians eventually received full voting rights at the provincial level. This started with British Columbia in 1949 and ended with Quebec in 1969.” (www.thecanadianencyclopedia.ca/en/article/franchise) So yeah some black men got the right to vote in the 1870s, but in regards to the rest of the population it’s not until the 1970s that most of the population, who isn’t incarcerated, get the right to vote.
