I'm from delhi university and most of the assistant professors there (ad hocs and guest lecturers) are teaching as well as doing phd side by side. An adhoc earns 87k per month and a guest lecturer earns 50k per month. So i guess 30k salary is only in small universities.

But sometimes the family and financial background makes a person to confine himself or herself to lectureship? Is it not true

There's one thing I've noticed. After completing NET or SLET, people from the OBC, the SC and the ST categories have managed to get jobs as assistant professors. But the people from the unreserved categories (general) have not managed to do that without a phd. That is why many unreserved master's degree holders are doing B. Ed. and preparing for TET.

So I joined Teaching at a private university after qualifying ugc net, I missed jrf 2 times by 4 qs and 1 time just by 1 qs...I was tired and I joined job but it was even more tirig, they agreed to give me 32k as a fresher bcz I was really good at the interview and all.
