I think my hamster thinks she's a bird, the number of times she's jumped out of my hands and platforms in her cage is ridiculous, I think she broke her tail at some point as it's crooked but she never showed any sign of pain so she may have just been born with it, though I wouldn't be surprised if it did happen in one of her many flying attempts.

After years and years of hamster owning I dropped my dwarf for the first time. He also launched himself off my hand. It was ‘only’ from about a meter high. He didn’t freeze and continued walking, so that’s good. When I put him back in his cage he immediately asked for the treat he knows he gets when he gets put back in the cage so I hope that means he’s okay. He seemed a bit slow just now but he also just woke up so we’ll see tomorrow morning :(

True story: When I was in 5th grade I brought my robo to school. (Terrible idea.) When I tried to put him in his ball, he ran if the desk and fell about 2ft onto tile. My teacher almost stepped on him before I caught him again... Yeah I beat myself up for months after that. My hamster was fine though☺

When I was younger, I had dropped one of my hamsters on accident (I was around 8 or 9 at the time - I was like, 4'11 and dropped from belly-button height) and after waiting maybe 30 seconds to a minute, she was still not moving (breathing just fine and stuff), so we took her to the vet (very carefully) and it turns out her spleen ruptured. We had to put her down and lordie it hurt my heart so badly. I felt so horrible and didn't get a new hamster til about 6 months after the incident.

My hamster dropped it self It landed in its back Right on its spine back bone thing When it did It began to release waste imidietly It could not move It was stuck So I put it back on the table And it froze And began to walk again But I noticed his behavior was very VERY different It was very scared And easily jumped of horror Before he was very Curious And energetic Ever since He has been that way Edit: hamster has been passed away. This Mass on it's back started growing bigger and bigger until one day it "popped". We don't know how but it was ruptured. Inside was simply just this Hard black material. My dad tried cutting the mass off to try and save him. We couldn't see a vet because we don't have money for expenses. After a few days I noticed he was dying and that it was his final hours. He would just lay on the ground and barely eat or drink. At the very final hours he would have seizures and twitch. I went to sleep and woke up to his stiff cold body.

i have a gerbil , and my mom put it on a coffe table..(it was pretty big)..and my gerbil just lunched and droped on the floor and start running... She's fine

Accidentally dropped my hamster about two hours ago after only having her for two weeks. Ater a call to the vets, my mum and a good few sobs, this video and some advice from some Facebook groups I’m in have made me feel much more relaxed. I had my hamster in my hands, and It jumped off... I panicked and picked it up and put it back in the cage, and then it went to sleep in it little house but it's the time where the hamster should be awake now. It's 9 pm.. I'm crying and I'm not sure what to do.

wen i was 13, i drop my hamster, she started to tremble and then she started to drop from both nose and mouth. i panicked, i plead my mom to take her to the vet, but she didn't feel like it and told me that she would die. I cried really hard, feeling bad for dropping my lovely pet, i just took her on a shoe box expecting the worst part. it happened like three hours until i realized that she was still moving, coughing sometimes, all of sudden she started to wash herself, still covered in blood. I was amazed, i just could believe that such a small creature could survive that, but at the same time, i was happy, happy as i can never recall before. I took her to her cage and put the water bottle and food plate next to her bed, so she wouldn't move to much. like a moth after that she appear to be fully recovered and was fooling around her cage just like ever. She died when i was 15, and now i remember her as one of the best pets i ever had, that's why i watch this kind of videos, because remind me her and how much i loved her. rest in peace Mila

I’m watching this while crying because I was just sitting at the table with my parents and my hamster was close to the edge and I accidentally softly nudged her and she fell onto the ground and on her way down also bumped into my chair. She got so scared that she zoomed like a meter away from where she fell and also peed from stress. My dad saw that it was my fault and was quite mad at me. But she is currently moving around and burrowing a lot (probably from the adrenaline) and not limping or anything

Little update, I rang the vets and they've said he probably just in a bit of shock and needs time to calm down, I just need to keep an eye on him overnight and take him in if theres an emergency phew I was panicking so bad cos hes literally my world!

it happened to me five days ago and my hamster is just fine, but I still feel bad about it

My Snowball was at the pet store for eight months. He is an albino Syrian. He was sent in with a large number of litter mates, and he was by far the sweetest. I love him so much! Poor thing, no one wanted him because of the fact that he was albino. All of his litter mates got homes very fast, but he, like I said, was there for eight months. The pet store employees took great care of him, and they all loved him. When I met him, they talked about how much they loved him and how sweet he was. They even offered to pay half of his vet expenses! He did nearly break his leg once, getting stuck in a cage tube. Now he lives in a bin cage. From the moment we first got Snowball, he had a bit of a strange walk. One day, my mom was playing with him and putting him back in the cage, when he leaped out of her hands. He landed on his back and struggled for a moment, but after that he simply got up and went over and drank his water. He’s never shown any sign of real injury.

Reading the comments is so stressful. Please do some research before you decide to have a pet. Do the research before, not after. The fact that hamsters are small animals doesn't mean they don't deserve the same respect and attention larger animals receive.

Yesterday, I offered my hand to my hamster and instead of just going on the palm, he ran up my arm in super speed mode. I was panicking as he happily explored all over my head and back, trying to lie down over his enclosure so he can fall inside and land on the soft bedding from as close as possible. Of course, he chose to jump that 40-50 cm from my backside on the hard floor instead. Next time this happens, I am just lying flat on the ground and preparing mentally for chasing after him in my room.

I just dropped my dwarf hamster ;-; Her cage is like one meter above the ground and since she always crawls up her cage I wanted to get her down. Well she walked on my arm and fell to the ground and she was just laying there really flat and wouldn't move... I was so scared but now she's acting like nothing happened. I got my hamster 3 weeks ago... and my hamster and I were sitting on my couch and She Went crazy out a sudden and Jumped she landed hard and I Grabbed her I dont know what to do!

While i was clean my robo hamster Gizmo’s tank she super jumped out of her box and landed on the floor. She landed on her back and wiggled around for a few seconds, she then sprinted around my room and it took my sister and I an hour to finally catch Gizmo. I was so worried that she might have broken something on her fall i had a mini panic attack. This video helped me calm down a bit since she wasn’t showing any signs. Hopefully she will be okay and i will keep a close eye on her.

I got a hamster yesterday and today I took it our of the cage to become better friends with it. When I started petting it, it ran out of my hand and fell straight onto the floor. It started running and I struggled to catch it and put it back in its cage. I started crying because I didn't want anything bad to happen to it. As it looks now, nothing happened to it, since it eats normally and everything and it didn't squeak or make sounds from the pain. Oh, how much I hope it's alright.

Literally dropped my dwarf hamster minutes ago and I'm so worried because it's the first time I dropped him and at 4 feet high too. 😢 He just froze for a few seconds and when I put him back in his cage, it's as if nothing happened and even asked for a treat. One time my Robo hamster dash had escaped her cage, she fell down 13 stairs, and hid behind a bookshelf. 2 days later we could t find her anywhere, then my mom pulled out the bookshelf and there she was shivering in a ball, she regained all her health but unfortunately died a couple weeks later. Even though she was small, she was a pretty hardy little hamster

I remember around 2011, my sister dropped the hamster by accident and we were panicked because she didn't move at all but after a while she manage to move and survived. That's not all we were kids back then so we gave her a chocolate and not related to hamster food. Unfortunately, she died while me and my family trip to Batam. I am so responsible really and to this day i feel horrible what me and my sister did. :(

Thanks for the video. I dropped my winter white from about 5’ onto hard wood floors after she bit my hand. I didn’t mean too, the bit surprised me and I shook my hand not thinking just reacting. I thought for sure she was dead. She didn’t move for about 30 seconds. Then I seen a little movement. I will go into details in case it helps someone but other may not want to continue reading. She had landed on her head. Once she did move it looked like her front leg was broke, then she started bleeding from her nose and going into convulsions. I felt so stupid and bad for what happen. I had her for 27 months. I just knew she wasn’t going to make it and I started thinking what could I do to stop the pain. She was making a bunch of little squeals. After about 10 minutes she started getting a little more life. She started using the leg I thought was broken to clean her face. Her eyes still wasn’t fully open and her breathing was really fast. About 20 minutes after the fall the bleeding stop and she started breathing a little more normal. After about 30 minutes her eyes opened more and she stop making as much squealing. I put her in her cage too make her feel a little more comfortable. She sat for another 10 minutes or so. Then she finally started walking. She came to the door, looked at me, turned around and went down some pipes to her bed and went to sleep. I have checked on her every hour and so far so good. You never really know. Hoping she got lucky and will continue to be ok. You can search the web and get all kinds of answer, but it depends on height, hamster, and how it lands. All you can do is watch over them after a fall and keep them warm.

I had a one year old compbell hamster. He was diagnosed with diabetes and I had to give him insulin shots twice a day and he was doing great. Today when I wanted to picked him up, he made a noise and bit me which is unusual for him. I accidentally dropped him, he started to scream and bitting me again. I realized he was bleeding from his neck. It is sunday and his vet was not open so until I found some vet, he passed away in just one hour. My sweet and cuddly baby...I think It was my fault and I don't know how I can handle it.

My hamster died yesterday but this video made me smile cuz I was thinking about how weird she was. Also she looked just like that one.

My hamster escaped from the cage and jumped of the closet it was on, a solid 1.5m fall, I saw it from the corner of my eye and she layed still for a bit. When I touched her she stood up and walked away. I genually cried and was anxious for about a week. Now she cannot escape anymore and she never showed signs of trauma.

I accidentally drowned my sisters hamster, but she literally revived it with ham CPR like the hamster was not breathing until my sister performed CPR on her. I was sobbing, she was freaking out and I was also pissing myself. But the little ham lived a long fulfilling 4 years of life.
