Step #1 would be Embracing everything you feel, acknowledging your situation.
You may experience different emotions:
- panic, due to having said goodbye to a regular salary
- fear of starting life without a set routine
- anger, when you remember all those long hours you dedicated to your position and company
Do not dwell on negative memories, or get stuck on how UNFAIR was the way you had been let go. Focus ONLY on the things you can control, which means leaving the past alone.
#2. Do some soul searching. This is your time to find out and choose what you really want to do.
#3. Manage Your Finances
If you haven’t been paying attention to your finances and daily spending before it is a right time to do it. You don’t have to settle for a job you don’t want, simply because you HAVE to accept it or you run out of money.
#4. Brush Up Your Resume and Get Your Interview Outfit ready.
#5. Start networking
Networking isn’t just connecting on LinkedIn. Make sure you get out of your home and stay engaged with people.
#6. Formulate the answer of Why Did You Leave Your Job?, that you’ll be giving to a future employer:
Formulate an honest but a professional response and practice it a lot.

#1. Don't hide when you get fired.
#2. Don’t feel ashamed about being fired. All the negativity is just in your head, if you accept it and stop caring, no one else will. Feeling ashamed or less valuable is only damaging and hurting you.
#3. Don’t lose faith in yourself. Remember it’s only one person’s decision to fire you, adopt a survivor mindset. Job loss does NOT define who you are. Be KIND to yourself. We are human beings and getting fired from a job can easily happen to anyone.
