Probably worth checking the food first too see if it’s burnt.

I literally just ran into this last night. I was trying to pressure cook a chicken casserole that used cream of chicken soup. After some research, I guess that IPs get too hot during pressure cooking for many dairy- or starch-based sauces. My solution was to take everything out (I did have to clean the bottom of the pot), add just some water and the chicken back to the pot to pressure cook and when it was done, add the sauce and switch to low heat on Saute mode. It brought the sauce to a simmer really quickly and didn't take much more time than my original plan. I still loved using the IP for the chicken since I was able to add it while it was still frozen. It cooked up perfectly tender and shreddable, no defrosting or planning ahead required!

I got a burn notice when making chili. The liquid must have been too thick. I checked for scorching on the bottom of the pot but didn't see any, fortunately. I moved the chili to the edge of the pot and added a quarter cup of water to the center, then restarted cooking. That worked. Their burn sensor must be very easily triggered (which is a good thing).

This happened while cooking a large pork roast. My solution was to add a small wire rack under the roast. there was plenty of liquid surrounding the pork just needed a spacer underneath.

I give a chopped medium onion and some oil a minute or two of pressure, to induce the burn notice. result: carmelized onions. The Pot gets it just right.

Australian here 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺 What's an 'instant pot????' Ive never heard of it, is it what we call a Thermomix?? I dont have a thermomix anyways because to me i cannot reconcile just throwing in your all ingredients at the same time and literally walking away, no mixing, no cutting/chopping up, no weighing, no mincing, no whipping, no kneading i can go on and on, but how can you just throw all your veggies in there and your meat without cutting it up first for it to cut them up for you, them mix it altogether and commence cooking....WTF Anyways is this what an 'instant pot' is?

An instant pot is just an electric pressure cooker... not as magical as you describe lol. Unlike the manual, stove top ones, it comes with several preset times and/or temps for different types of foods (eg. meats, rice, yogurt, etc). Some people might just throw everything in and hope for the best. I typically use it to speed up dishes but I still do all the other prep like I would stovetop. I still chop/mince/measure/ etc. my ingredients and use the sauté function to brown meats and build up the flavors before sealing it up to finish cooking in less time. It doesn't get the same caramelized, deep and concentrated flavors that I achieve with my dutch oven but can still produce a delicious result in a fraction of the time because of the pressure cook - a great help for dinner after a long day at work. Test Kitchen has many instant pot adapted recipes which are great and don't have you just dump whole ingredients in.

I get a burn notice almost EVERYTIME I cook. It sucks. It’s to the point where I rarely use it.
@Michael-qb5hg8 ай бұрын
Then that would be a wake up call to add additional liquid now wouldn't it? If we always do what what we've always done, we're gonna get the same results. INSANITY.

@@jeffreywhitaker5154what happens if you just put plain water in ity, half full, and run a pressure cycle? Does it still do it? I am wondering if it's a bad sensor, or the pot not contacting the sensor properly. I would run the cycle with just water, and see what happens, and if it still does it, than contact support and see if they can help you, maybe a new sensor, or it's a known issue.

I've been using an IP for several years now and have so far never gotten a burn notice. I either cook things that have liquid (rice, beans) or use recipes developed specifically for electric pressure cookers. For making hard-boiled eggs alone, the IP is worth it (I use the 2 - 15 method).
