Hello. Can I ask if this solution will also work with my new Mac M1 running on macOS Big Sur. I have an Apple USB Superdrive to play my dvd's on but nothing will play. I have checked in finder the External disks and CDs, DVDs and iPods are both ticked, The Usb Superdrive shows in the top right corner of the screen and when I open it it won't play, it's just a blacked out box, so I am asking before doing anything that will make the situation worse. Also the quick time player is showing in my Applications folder in Finder but not in my About this computer overview under storage ( manage) so totally bamboozled at the moment. Have you got any info in resurrecting a drive after trying to clone a macOS11 system? All was fine in OS10, so these are issues now. It has destroyed a partition on my optical external after First Aid (updating from Exfat to APFS, never used), and half my Sandisk USB stick (MacOS Extended to APFS) which I used for Time Machine backups. First Aid failed the first one. Will not run FA on the USB as I fear it will destroy the drive. Any software you can recommend to fix these? I still have a Catalina OS, so any advice to fix it would be great.

Yeah I've had way more issues (including the external drive not appearing) since I switched to m1 macbook air for video editing than I ever had on windows Even after all the fixes sometimes the drive just doesn't appear but for final cut pro, the problems are totally worth it

What is the allocation unit size of the samsung t7 1tb right out of the box? I accidently formated my ssd and now that I wanna return it back to what it was, I cant seem to find it on the internet. All I know is that it comes in exfat out of the box.

This has just happened to my Medio 2012 MacBook Pro. It provides power to the USB ports, but it won't read data. It doesn't show up in disc utility either. I've tried everything. 😭

This happened to me. All I did was connect a charger to my MacBook and then shutdown and restart the mac with the external hard drive plugged in and it worked. I don’t know if this is a fix but my external ssd sometimes doesn’t work on my MacBook Pro M1 when it’s battery powered

Hi! How safe is to adding kext? Like paragon ntfs driver for example. I am kind of person who like to keep everything original and how it is suppose to be. But in case I need to copy smthng on NTFS drive (let’s say it is not my drive) I also want to have an option. Also my LG tvos doesn’t support exFAT presently. I have a usb c hub for my 2019 MacBook air. I can charge the MacBook through the hub, so it seems to be working, but when I plug something into the hub, it is not detected by the MacBook. The MacBook seems to recognise the hub in System Information. Any idea why it's not recognising any usb devices?

I had a problem with an ereader not mounting on my Mac, despite working fine at first. It should just appear as storage. Eventually I discovered that if I connected the ereader to a small (unpowered) hub, then attach the hub to my Mac, it would mount correctly. No idea why it only works via a hub, but something worth trying if you have a device that should mount but doesn't.

mine is saying that the erase process has failed. it also says disk5s1 couldn't be unmounted because it is in use by process 25519 (assetLoader) so I don't know what to do. any suggestions?

Unfortunately this solution did not work for me. I am using a samsung evo 870 where I installed catalina in order to run it externally on my mac mini late 2012, but even though I have formatted this thing twice on my MBP, the mac mini still gives me a message that the disk is not readable. The repair option finds no issues with the drive. I am stuck right now, any other suggestions?

I have a SanDisk Extreme Pro Portable SSD 2TB Drive (USB-C). It was originally formatted as EXFAT so that it could be read on MacOS and Windows. It was able to be used on both until randomly one day my 2018 MacBook Pro was no longer detecting the drive (did not even appear in the Disk Utility). When I went to plug it into a Windows PC laptop, then it was detected and I could open it to view and access the files. Do you know what could be causing this issue?

I bought my WD 1TB hard drive to pull everything out of my Mac so I can downgrade back to Catalina (because I didn't know how much of a mess Big Sur was until it was too late). My external hard drive was working fine. I was torrenting some files and then my screen frozen. I turned off my macbook and when I turned it on it was not showing up in my finder. It is also not showing up in Disk Utility. When I am in storage, it shows up on USB Disk. But I not sure where to go from there. Please help. Thanks.
