Bogota's Museo Del Oro is considered one of the largest in the world. Its collection consists of pre-Columbian works that use the region's gold as a fundamental raw material, necessarily linked to the routine and daily life of its people.
Created in 1939, it has the mission of protecting the Colombian Historical and Archaeological Heritage. Banco da República is a public body that manages the museum. The first work that was purchased by Banco de La Republica for the Gold Museum was Poporo Quimbaya. From it was created the collection and the collection that grew year after year. During the pandemic, it is not possible to visit the Museo del Oro on your own, that is, it is necessary to make a prior appointment and reserve the date of your visit.

It is important to say that all visits to the Gold Museum are guided, so if you do not respect the schedule you will lose your place and will not be able to visit. .
From there we went to visit the famous Avenida 7, or carrera 7 where the statue of Simon Bolivar is located, a street closed to cars that is one of the main cultural centers of the city, where families will spend the day walking, entertaining themselves with the musicians in the street, shopping at the stalls and having coffee. Speaking of coffee, we went to taste the famous Juan Valdez Café, one of the most important cafes in Colombia. It is delicious and not bitter.
Then we walked to the Botero Museum, which arose from a donation of works of art made by Colombian artist Fernando Botero to the government of his country.
Botero, famous for creating "fuller" shapes and with sharp curves is one of the exponents of Colombian art. This museum, also managed by the Banco de la Republica.
However, during the pandemic period, only guided tours can be made at the Botero Museum, and prior appointment is mandatory.

We visited Plaza Simón Bolivar from the museum. This square is a place full of history. Stage of the main popular manifestations of the country, there is where the great buildings of the city are concentrated, like the National Congress, the Palace of Justice and the Cathedral Primada de Colombia. When we arrived, all the buildings were covered with black cloth, a sign of the recent protests against the packages of the current government. But it was interesting to see llamas, rap singers, activists. We saw people dancing hip hop and even a presentation of "parkour de taubaté".
After all this cultural trip, we went to see the beautiful Cerro Monserrate. One of the main tourist attractions in Bogotá is an incredible place that MUST be visited, as it offers one of the best, if not the best view of Bogotá. It is at an altitude of 3,152 m, so it is the highest point in the city and therefore it is the most sought after place by those who want to have the most beautiful view of Bogota. Installed on the top of the hill, the basilica of Senhor de Monserrate has been a place of religious pilgrimage since colonial times and is a natural, religious and gastronomic attraction of the city.
There are three ways to access the summit of the Cerro: walking, cable car and funicular.
This was the way we used it. It is worth mentioning that both the funicular and the cable car have the same cost: 22,000 round trip (on Sundays it costs 13,000).
When you get up there, you have another 150 m climb up to the Basilica Santuário do Senhor Caido de Monserrate. The bottom of the church is one of the best places to take the most beautiful photos, as it is from there that you face the city and the best view of Bogota. There you will find a nice little street, full of boats, like a fair, with a lot of crafts and street food. It is a great place to try local cuisine. At the end of this street, there are a dozen restaurants side by side, offering various typical dishes.
