Greatly needed this video today. I learned while out shooting that landscape composition is HARD!! You do not simply aim the camera at your favorite tree and shoot expecting it to come out a masterpiece. Why, oh why does it not work that way???? My favorite tree, no less! While I did not come home with any masterpieces today, I did come home with peace of mind, calmness, refreshment, peace, shall I go on? Thank you for your words of wisdom here. I have a feeling this message will touch many of us.

SO true June. IT's very hard to shoot landscapes but especially when its tree based landscapes. There are so many attributes to consider and light becomes even more important. That image you posted the other day has just beautiful light which makes up for a lot when making a landscape shot. As always, you know I appreciate you and thanks for continuing to watch!

Really interesting and all spot on, Thomas, their would be no fun going out every time and capturing hordes of amazing photos, we would soon get fed up. As photographers, we will spend our lives looking for THE shot and that's what sends you out time and time again, just being out in a beautiful area looking for potential shots is fantastic. Loved your shots, lovely rock detail and deep contrast and that Viltrox is ridiculous for the money.

Thank you for your kind comments. You are so right. We can't know when things are right if they don't go wrong. Good that you pointed that out as I don't think I mention that little dichotomy enough. Thanks for watching!

I went to Yellowstone two years ago and your could not see the sun or the mountains due to all the wildfires in Canada. I will try again this year sometime. I also shoot more portraits and I always try one nest thing and sometimes I fail at it. In fact yesterday I failed on trying to get motion to show.

IT can always be hard, even to do the simplest of things in photography. As I said, it can all go wrong at a moments notice and then there you go. Wish me luck with this eclipse today! LOL

Really good to hear about that Viltrox 20mm 2.8. I was very curious about that lens, i might just pick it up. I think my take away from this is, no one is perfect 100% of the time. so it was good to hear it from a professional. now, your lighting was pretty good, much better than what i had today at Flagstaff Lake in Bigelow (cloudy and snow). i do love the dreary days, but just about every single photo came out not so sharp, several had a lot of noise. not sure what i am doing wrong. so, do you have any guidance towards shooting on dreary grey days (F-stops, stacking images, certian F lenses, etc. etc.)

So, Brian, I am testing it for Astro for the first time and I can tell you its not perfect for that but its definitely not bad. Small, very small amount of coma in the corners but overall its really good even at that. You'll hear about that soon. I am working up the full review as we speak.
