I had two (monetization) strikes for music and had to mute the sound for a few minutes on those videos. Yes, it's extremely frustrating when you put this much time and effort into videos and the audio source that you pay a subscription to doesn't manage their music collection correctly and it causes monetization strikes. I used to use Audio Hero, but have since gone with another source because I don't have time to mess with that. ;)

Good info in this one. I didn’t know a strike only lasted for 90 days. I’ve disputed a few claims on the basis of using music as fair use (I’m teaching the song, not covering the song). This could be another related subject for you to cover...fair use. Cheers.

Saw it right away after I posted the video removed it as soon as I saw it so I hope I'm good not watching a whole fucking video on youtubes over the top copyright system litteraly on my Instagram I have several of videos including which I imagine to be copyrighted songs and I've only gotten warned a few times all they did was make the video unwatchable to anyone else so I was like whatever I'm also pretty sure they made it clear that jackshit would happen as long as I'm not doing it constantly but youtube just says oh copyright strike no explanation on the details to whether I'm fucked or its just a warning like delete this and u can be on your day

Man this video helped a lot recently because I have two copyright claims and I checked on KZfaq studio and it said it won’t affect my KZfaq channel with those two videos that had the claim and luckily it’s not a strike so thanks dude I really appreciate it it really helps a lot since I was worried about my KZfaq channel

Interesting. Makes me wonder what other creators think when they realize i used 1 second of black screen from a literal random video of theirs because i was in a tight spot, needed a 1 sec black to tie things up and time was of the essence. lmao. This was a very helpful video.

Thank you! As a new Vlogger, I received three copyright dings while using the built in GoPro app music library as well as one track from Creative Commons. I stated the royalty free license blurbs in each video but still got dinged. I’m trying to determine the best process to avoid this going forward. It’s more annoying than anything. Funny thing…. I reported my two GoPro fair use issues with them but they were 100% unhelpful so I will be canceling my account with them

Great video...I've gotten lucky a couple times when I disputed because the music was being played in the background at the casino I was recording at and I had no intent of using the song ...it was under fair use..I usually try to add some music at about 65% volume during the edit and it usually will change it enough to avoid the copyright depending on the volume of the song I'm trying to change..Thanks..

Thank you so much for explaining this. KZfaq recently monetized two of my videos and started copyright claiming my videos even though I credited the artist. I removed 7 of my videos and a short I just made, but those can be recuperated. I just upload vids for fun, never intended to have any monetary gain made from any of them.

Thank you for this. I have just had a copyright claim but the music was on KZfaqs no copyright list. I have still gone ahead and tried to remove it from my vlog. I got wrongfully claimed and immediately stiked w/o warning because I paid somebody to make a thumbnail for me. KZfaq only cares about money and channel size, they don't care about you as a creator as they portrait.

Excellent points! But I think what I and many others in my review niche would like to know is about "fair use" or "fair dealing" if you're in the UK and Canada. If you get a claim on a review, can you still file a dispute? And if so, what if they still put the claim on?

I'm thinking of starting another channel without branding when I have property to sell to go on the MLS, (not allowed to have our name phone # etc) and create the same video but with branding to put on my main channel. I was afraid of getting a copyright strike. I guess it would be OK since I'd be original copyright holder, as you just showed us? Thanks!

I have no idea why KZfaq doesn't just give us 7 days by default to remove a video or not. We shouldn't have to keep suffering from copyright strikes when most of us would just simply take the video down.

Hey great video, very helpful as usual, had one question though: If I dispute a claim, does the system give me a way of communicating directly with the person who initiated the claim? So that I can try to negotiate with them and try to just convince them to retract their claim?

No- but if you know where the music is from you can usually find the artist and reach out to them. Often though, it is another industry flagging their content, not the actual creator.

Yes you can they actually give you their full name and you can respond directly to their email that is provided. We have someone harassing us giving us copyright claims when we have a paid license for the videos we are using.

Does this work if you use a copyrighted song, I want to make an animation video but am scared that i will get sued or it will get taken down , is there a way to keep the music on without paying or anything? Do you just give credit?

I’ve had 2, so far. More like royally PISSED than panicked because the strike had more to do with copyright background music at a commercial venue which I absolutely had no control of! I wish KZfaq would consider unique scenarios like this before dishing out a strike. It wouldn’t be so bad, if not for the fact that I narrate my videos onsite. So to remove the contentious content means I have to remove the narrated part. Bollocks!

Np. I started a KZfaq channel recently (iAmArco) and for alot of my videos I plan on using copyrighted music as it helps with the feel and vibe of my videos. Not worried about monetizing what so ever right now. Seeing your comment made me a little scared using the music I have haha but I'm OK with copyright claims for the time being. Thanks for clarifying, I appreciate it.

I was looking at my own channel, and saw a Copyright Claim against one of my videos. I do a lot of Friday Night Funkin' mods, so when I saw this, I had a nice little panic attack debating to trim out the in-game song or to mute it. I'm not the best with making decisions; it'll turn into a 10-min debate, and even when I do something, I have serious regrets afterwards. I ended up muting it, but then my boomer of a grandmother is like, do you have license to play that game. It's a free game, and it's a game I like to play on my channel.

I'm really confused because I'm trying to upload a video that's about 50 minutes long but the entire thing is getting blocked because of a 2 minute sequence which contains copyrighted material... however, if I simply try to upload those specific 2 minutes by themselves then although they're still detected as copyrighted material, the video itself _isn't_ blocked and there are apparently no restrictions: _"Copyright-protected content found. The owner allows the content to be used on KZfaq"_ So why is this footage fine by itself, but as a (very tiny) part of a much longer video it warrants blocking the entire thing??
