Thank you for making this video. 0:54-2:23 was incredibly useful to know. I just accidentally pressed my button 5 times and the emergency thing came up, I cancelled it IMMEDIATELY but was unsure if something had been told to authorities. Thank you for explaining the timer thing, in my panic I did not even see the countdown. Lol.

In an actual emergency that loud ass noise when you press the side button is a horrible design. If you were in a situation where someone with a weapon broke into your house a loud siren noise is the last thing you need.

That’s why it’s a countdown so anybody was accidentally having it count down they would hear it and stop in an actual emergency they would use the slider or just call with the phone app

Ha...I'm not alone, I see. Just got a new model (to me) and not quite used to the feel of the buttons. Was blindly trying to turn down the volume when the siren went off and I was so engaged with other stuff I couldn't stop the call in time. And once it's made I guess it can't be undone. Ended up getting two follow up calls...the second was from my county emergency center, so I'm not sure where the first one from. But good to know they were so quick to follow up and our local folks could tell what address I was at. They were also understanding when I apologetically explained what happened.

I literally did this at 4 in the morning today… I was sleeping and somehow initiated the emergency sos thingy. got woken up at 5am by my mom freaking out because it sent a text to my emergency contacts as well. I slept through the alarm and also when the dispatchers called me back again. Honestly I didn’t even realize that I had accidentally called 911 until I was in class, and by then I wasn’t sure if I should even call back or not. I ended up never calling back, and it’s been 12 hours since. Nothing has happened although I’m still seriously scared a random cop is gonna show up at my house and i have to explain that I slept through the accidental call because not even an earthquake could wake me up 💀

I was trying to fix the "black screen of death" on my Samsung Z flip 3 'cause the video I was using said to spam the power button. So I did. Then suddenly my phone began to make this awfully loud beeping noise, which I didn't know what it meant until I heard a dispatcher on the other end (I barely heard her but thank God I did!). I apologized quickly and explained my phone was simply messing up. Thankfully she understood and there wasn't any follow up calls or police at my door after that. But dang it almost gave me a heart attack!

I use a OnePlus model, and this happened to me but slightly different where I just unlocked my phone via the fingerprint feature. it came up with the same timer countdown along with the cancel option which I then had to select the end call feature. it never said cancelled call but the phone never dialed (or operator never got to answer) and whilst it shows in the in the call history there is no time against the call to say it lasted x number of seconds. my question is for those who's also cancelled their calls - did it show up in your call history like mine and did mine actually cancel or did I just hang up really quick.😂😂😂

I’m hoping they didn’t show up for you cos the same thing just happened to me and I cba dealing with that today 🤦🏼‍♀️ I just switched off the sos thing in the settings. It’s too easy to do it by accident and I don’t think even in an emergency I’d remember how to do it. I feel like it’s easier to just remember to call them 🤷🏼‍♀️

I accidentally held the buttons and the screen popped up. I thought it was calling but I think I cancelled it in time… that said, there’s no reason it should be that easy to call for emergency services and waste resources all because you accidentally held a button and then have to explain to a state agent you’re okay and it was an accident. Dialing 911 in an emergency situation seems pretty simple enough. There should be a way to disable this feature at least.

@@ric7053 They sent me a voicemail telling me to call 911 if it is a true emergency and to call their number if not, but when I called back the number, the operator was listing to press certain numbers for other minor emergencies that I didn’t have😭 So I hung up again and now I’m really worrying if they’re going to show up at my house:((
