I am getting at scan tomorrow and needed to know what to expect so I can chill my mind. Thank you. Also, My lab that I am getting my test at, requires that to do the following prior to testing: *No Caffeine 6 hours prior to exam (No Coffee, Soda, Chocolate, Tea, and or anything with caffeine in it). UPDATE: Got my test back, and I am at zero. So I don't have much to worry about.

I had an appointment today and had to reschedule because I couldn't get my heart rate below 75. It has to be that low, preferable in the 60's, in order for them to get clear pictures. I wish I had known this ahead of time as I would have told my doctor that I get nervous for medical procedures. My heart races when I get my BP taken. So I know that I likely would not be able to keep my heart rate below 75 for the whole test, even though my at home resting pulse is 60 or below. The tech was very kind and let me relax and breath and try to get my rate down. It helped, but as soon as I knew we were going to start the procedure my heart rate shot up again. As soon as she took the EKG off my my heart rate dropped to 75. I've tried in vain to get past this phobia, but I just can't. She will speak to my Dr. about giving me a beta blocker before the next time I do the procedure. If I had only known this I would have asked for it in the first place, knowing my issue, and saved myself the time, the drive, and the stress. Just wanted to post this in case someone else has my issue, they can talk to their Dr. and maybe save themselves a wasted visit. And no caffeine/chocolate or anything like that before the test. Crossing my fingers for the next time I try. If the beta blocker doesn't work I am not trying again.

Thank you for sharing this info. I also get very stressed with things like this especially when my body is going to go into a machine, what if I get stuck in there is my first thought. I totally get it. I'm getting one done too, but I'll ask the doctor to give me something.

Thank you for sharing . I went today and had to reschedule because heart rate was above 80. When she stopped the procedure my heart rate went down. Crazy. So, I am going to a different location and my heart rate can be 100.

Took the initiative to get this done myself . I got a score of 1 out of 100 which is low . As I've always said guys are more concerned about blockages in their fuel lines with their cars than they are with their arteries !

What is the best advice for anxious patients during the procedure, does anxiety skew the results? Thank you much for this informational video.
@lijie64314 жыл бұрын
No. If you have calcium blockage that has nothing to do with anxiety.

I walked right up to the edge of type two diabetes and have backtracked to a normal fasting blood sugar and have lost 45lbs and counting. I have a CAC scheduled for tomorrow. I'm a bit nervous. I've never had high blood pressure issues, but my eating and drinking habits were pretty bad for a lot of years. But even if I get bad news tomorrow...I'm confident I can remove those calcium blockages with diet and IF.

@@sean13 Better than OK. I got a big ol goose-egg! I'll be 50 next year so this was really great news to me. I'll have another one when I hit 60, but I plan to keep away from the SAD, and even after I reach my weight goal, I plan to do an extended fast periodically to get the benefits of autophagy and the immune system boost.

I went to India and took a calcium test and the number was 501.Also the radioligist's report said that I have 2 major blocks on two cironary arteries. LAD 60 to 80%, LCX 40 to 60%. Well it scared the heck out of me and left India within a week after the test. After I came here, I took a nuclear test and drug induced TMT test. The numbet wssr74 and the normal is 73.My cardiologist told me to check my cholestrol every four months and told me to baby aspirin. I am taking 3 medication. Atrovostatin 100mg, feno fibrate 145 mg, Vascepa 2g morning 2 g at night. So my question is why my ct scan was wrong?
@mikehawk68736 ай бұрын
Well that is very strange the only thing I can say is maybe the test in India was incorrect.

Can anyone tell me how long the test is? I’m very chlostrofobic and very anxious about being inside that machine. Thanks everyone.
@fskhankhan61559 ай бұрын
That machine is not enclosed. The enclosed part is just above your chest. It takes 10 - 15 minutes to complete the test
@rogerg49162 жыл бұрын
What is not mentioned here is that a physician's order is not required for this test. Any adult can request and get the test. It will be interpreted by a cardiologist and if there is any positive finding the patient will be advised to consult a physician. Interestingly, although the test is much more specific for coronary disease than a cholesterol test it is not paid for by Medicare.???
@lloydhlavac68072 жыл бұрын
It depends on where you live. I'm in central Florida, and I have checked with every place locally that offers CT scans, and none of them will do it without a doctor's order. I want a heart CT scan to see my score, but I do not have a doctor, so I am out of luck.
@rogerg49162 жыл бұрын
@@lloydhlavac6807 It may be that this is regulated by state law. In Tennessee it is not required.

How does high blood pressure increase the risk of plaque in my arteries?
@RockFF3074 жыл бұрын
I'm assuming that the narrowing of arteries could cause the high blood pressure. Just a guess though.
@yuppers13 жыл бұрын
I think the high blood pressure just increases the likelihood of picking up one of the plaques and moving it to somewhere dangerous

Is this test doable for someone who suffers from claustrophobia?
@tgeee3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's wider than an MRI; and, as you can see, open on both ends / your head is out.
@sophiebuzora96162 жыл бұрын
My cardiologist doesn't want me to go for it, saying it's very dangerous because of the radiation. I was wondering, how many times do we get radiations via X-rays even at the dental office in our life time... Is this CCS test somehow different from other x-rays, and how long does it take, minutes?, half an hour?...
@davidharrison3574 Жыл бұрын
@japanwatchconnection but a CT scan is much more worst than flying in an airplane or having an x-ray done.

Radiation for CT Coronary Calcium Score is low compared to a Moderate to High Radiation exposure for Coronary CTA which utilizes a contrast dye.
@sarahmccoy19412 жыл бұрын
How much radiation is a person exposed to during this CT scan?
I’m a 50-year old, overweight female with mild high blood pressure (130/90). My total cholesterol is very high, 298, with my LDL being 188 of that. I recently had a cardiac CT scan and angiogram and was told my cardiac calcium score is 0. So if high cholesterol can cause blockages, how is it possible that I have absolutely no plaque in my arteries? I just don’t understand the correlation, or why there doesn’t seem to be one.
@tenmenz3 жыл бұрын
great score. what did your doctor say?
@justmydeals3 жыл бұрын
@@tenmenz He said I'm fine, good to go. I just wonder what the other effects of this high cholesterol can be... since it doesn't seem to be clogging my arteries.
@james-jq8sk3 жыл бұрын
I have heard some cardiologists stating that cholesterol is not the issue, if you google 'cholesterol is not the issue" you should get some useful info. This is info from Doctors and cardiologists, it's not quackery or anything like that...
