Step 1: think you are prepared and won't cry Step 2: try not to cry Step 3: cry a lot Step 4: Take the exams Step 5: After the exams, you finally understand the topic Step 6: Cry even more Step 7: ask your instructor for a curve or extra points Step 8: "How the fuck did I pass the class" this guide skips over a lot of stuff but for each class physics-related, these are the steps for success

Step 8....every time. I freak out thinking for sure I am going to fail or god willing scrape by with a low C then grades come in and its a low A or high B and I am like WTF? HOW? I got 60s on 3 of my 4 exams! Lol never ignore honework, reports, labs and projects. My last waves and heat/thermo project was a doozy but it saved my grade. They add up in the end so dont igbore things because they are only 5 or 10% of your grade...when push comes to shove every little bit helps and it might very well save your ass.

I was lucky in that I took Physics 1 & 2 at a community college, where my professor deeply enjoyed his work and came up with unique quizzes and tests. I was also lucky in that the homework for both classes were from the textbook, and did not have an online component to them. I enjoyed those classes a lot, however, Physics 2 still did not prepare me as much as I thought it would for my Electric Circuit Analysis class.

In Sweden we pretty much spend our first year in Engineering Physics on slightly more formal versions of high school math and physics courses, as well as a course on MatLab - I kinda liked that year, since it felt like a very solid foundation, and the 2nd-year courses would often use Gauss's Theorem, which was a very satisfying continuation.

Donald Trump Similar to my university. Same material in physics 1 and 2, but the physics major variant of the class was far more focused on the theory and derivations. From what I have seen from engineers and other stem majors, the non-major version of the class had alot more “formulas” where we were specifically told not to rely on formulas but more rather understand a problem and derive a solution.

When you talk about calc 1 etc are the concepts covered the same across all colleges. In the UK there are things which has to be covered by every physics course however names of modules are not constant from university to university and what is within them is also not the same.

Yes so when I talk about Calc 1, I'm referring to basic differential and integral calculus in 1 dimension. If you hit integration by parts, you've gone too far.

So im currently a high school senior studying physics at my local community college, currently taking physics 2 (thermo and E&M). Unfortunately, my high school wouldn't permit me to take calculus there too, so im forced to take ap calculus BC at the high school (a whole year for just calc 2). Being the case that im only in calc 2 while in physics 2, am i screwed for physics 3 and higher? Should i skip phyics for my first semester so i can take calc 3 and DE?

I'm still very early in the process. I haven't even signed up for my fall classes yet. Would you recommend I take calc1 before I start taking any physics? They said I could take them both at the same time if I wanted to because the professors work together.
@SamtheSWE
@SamtheSWE 6 жыл бұрын
At my school, we take them both together and continue through the series like that (i.e Calc II and Physics II together, so on and so forth). I dont think you'll have much of a problem taking them together, but from my experience taking the math class that serves as the basis for the physics class beforehand helps alot in understanding and mastering the mathematics. Depends on your comfort level though, only you know how much you can handle

Question, I'm a freshman in high school looking to become a physics major and am on the path to take multivariable calculus senior year. Is calculus 1 pre-calc or is that just AP Calc? And in Calc two included in Ap Calc BC (Two semesters worth of calculus) or is it an entirely different course?
@brino123
