The best phrase I've heard of when looking at used items is that they look "used but not abused"
@michaelmccaffrey27312 жыл бұрын
Just to add to the list; I always check the air filters, hours on fuel and oil filters among a few other things. Matching oil and fuel filter hours usually indicates that they change them together instead of being cheap and saving on the fuel filter , which can shorten the life of the pump. If an air filter is new ( possible red flag), filthy ( definite red flag). Good job guys

With the Deere, you don't need to worry about getting dirt in the pin bushings. They're so sloppy, dirt and grit will fall straight out.

True, Unfortunately that is a sad statement

That 270D undercarriage is textbook “Run to destruction” territory. I figure the pump is bad too. It would have to go cheap - but nothing does anymore.

I think I would go with the valvo .. or a older machine that predates the gov specs ..

You aint seen nothing. I bought a Hydromac H95 in 2018. Ancient Italian machine that no one has ever heard of. Put into production in 1962 6 Cylinder Perkins engine Has clearly had 3 re-paints. Had to get 1 idler ram re conditioned. Dipper ram and cylinder were both scoured, replaced seals rather than having them rebuilt. Boom ram is leaking, must be scoured too. Burned out starter, bought a new one. Battery does not charge, fault in electronics somewhere. One frost plug missing, random piece of timber bunged in instead. Exhaust gone, replaced with gutter pipe. Hydraulic oil was well below level, I drained 3 20 gallon drums out of it and replaced with 7 Still needs more Grease nipples in tracks are not the same as each other, one has to be slightly screwed out to work Not the original cab, "new" one has more Perspex than glass and a right hand door (?) Overflow pipe into the hydraulic oil tank was broken, fixed with hose and jubilee clips. Bucket sway? The "Pins" holding the bucket are pieces of old hydraulic rams. Rotation creaks when stopped. Only one boom ram, struggles to lift weights that similar sized machines with two rams would lift. Mechanical joysticks, need greasing regularly. Return filter to hydraulic oil tank was FULL of metal. Long magnet in tank looked like a caterpillar with all the metal on it. Tracking has very little power. Drinks water. But I bought a 17 tonne machine for €2,500. Beat that.
