At my father’s service, I was very comforted by those who chose to wear bright colors. While this is good standard advice, it’s okay to deviate from black when it honors the person who passed or those who are grieving. I didn’t think that they were drawing attention to themselves, but rather bringing cheer into our family. I appreciated the sunshine of yellows and pinks and the black was fine too. People should just wear what makes them comfortable, as funerals are very difficult for the attendants too.

I think I was in high school when I attended my first funeral. I attended a Catholic High School. During my senior year one of my classmates passed away about half the school attended his funeral. We (the students) were in either in our regular school uniforms or in our dress uniforms on that day. The reason for us being able to attend the funeral is that the church it was held at was just down the street from the school. We did have to have signed permission slips in order to attend if I remember correctly. This was back in the fall of 2003.

I have recently attended 3 different funerals. While I chose to wear a dark solid dress, I also saw several ladies wearing attractive dark slacks with patterned blouses which I thought were very attractive. I try to keep one or two such outfits in my closet, ranging in price from a $15 black solid swing dress from Walmart to a faux wrap dress, or a fit and flare black wool knit, plus the lovely black suit I wore to my mother’s funeral. I know as I get older, there will be more occasions for use. A strand of pearls, real or faux and small tasteful earrings are good accessories.

All good tips. I recently attended a funeral for a friend. He was a big sports fan so his wife requested that everyone wear their favorite team jersey. I don't own sports clothes so I wore black cigarette pants, a blouse, and a black blazer. I have found that you will see everything from jeans to suits to people coming in their work uniforms (if they must go to work afterwards). The important part is showing up and paying your respects for the person who passed.

I'm gonna go to my great uncle Big Jimmy's funeral on Wednesday, December 28th, 2022. Big Jimmy died of a heart attack. But at least he's in heaven now, where he's reunited with his parents and siblings. He's very happy now.

I’m flying across the country in two weeks for my father’s very unexpected funeral. I have an appropriate black dress and lots of blazer/ sweater options but I don’t what shoes to wear? Unfortunately my feet grew after the birth of my daughter so none of my nice shoes fit! I have to buy something a half size larger and it’s the literal last thing I want to think about or do.

My cousin died a month or two ago young 30s. Cremated. Funneral mass but it's with a celebration of life with music like a reception playing his favorite songs. And drinks. I'm so confused. So I'm doing black top, shoes purse with pearls but a flowing light pink long skirt. I'm so confused on if this is ok lol

I would be interested in seeing outfit ideas for funerals. Like you said, you're not trying to turn it into a fashion show. It's just trying to put together 2 outfits, maybe a pantsuit style (more styling than Hillary Clinton's pantsuits, please) for day one and a black dress, for day two what accessories would be good. Since I'm not working anymore, I've lost my ability to put those things together. If I have a parent pass away (years down the line I hope), I want to look pretty for them. Like it is a very special event, which it is. Maybe your subscribers have ideas. I wear a size 18-20 is dresses, 18-20 in suits. I don't like dresses to look matronly. Maybe a hem at the top of or below my kneecap or a midi. If anyone has found stores that have worked for you, particularly brands. I am apple shaped with a large belly, smaller on the shoulders and the legs. I don't mean to hijack your video, Tania. Maybe you have some ideas. Or your followers do. Thanks for the help!
