The thing that I hated about the game was the lack of enemy communications, Like in AC 6 the enemies sounded cocky at the start of the mission but at during the end they were in total panic.

You forgot the part where Akula is effectively tougher than Aigaion just because they want to script an ultra-long battle. This scripted-to-not-die-until-we-find-it-climatic bullshit is among the most annoying.

The mother Russia's PAK-FA 50 Aqula Bis can pull 50g and a TWR of 1945/1. It have premium stalinium mined under the Kremlin. It can take hundreds of missile and thousands of 20mm cannons and still fly like a Hawk on vodka.

I'm glad AC7 came out. It made up for the many mistakes and errors seen in ACAH.

Well it looks sickening, the camera moving constantly, the absurd moves of aircrafts..., and the main character, wtf?, does he even have feelings?, is he even pretending to be nervous or something?, good lord, Unsung War had MUCH BETTER characters, the radio chatter alone was EPIC compared to AH one.

This is somehow worse than hitting Mihaly with 27 missiles and a third of your cannon's total ammo in AC7 on Farbanti and he ends up leaving only because he's getting DDOSed and not that his plane got deleted 50 times over and he's just realizing that maybe he should leave. And not gonna lie: the concept of the battle shown in this video is great, but dear lord is the execution rough...

I very much agree with the description. What I was most disappointed with was the bomber mission. I expected it to be an aircraft with something like 200+ UGBLs that you could throw all over the place and no missiles, that would have made for a nice change of pace. While it does have that armament, the _entire fucking playtime on the bomber_ revolves around getting to scripted points (if you don't do that in x seconds the game will fail) to start scripted bombing runs, and you can't even miss an enemy because that will instantly fail the game. You can't turn around and go for another bombing run because of that, you can't throw bombs if you are not along the scripted path, *you can't do fucking anything unless the game has a specific scripted sequence for it*. This is what I hate about Assault Horizon and most other "Modern Military American Realistic Videogame".

The game is scripted every level. a lot of people get the impression that this version of the game is intended for realism. sadly, it is not. it is tailored below realism. jets don't suddenly flip hard up and you both end up chasing each other's tail forever. the game forces you to use dog mode every time.

I loved the ace combat series. I hope 7 heading back to Osea doesn't keep stuff like this. A scripted final fight based around the annoying dogfight mode really killed the game for me. I loved it outside of dogfight.

This is one reason I liked Assault Horizon Legacy for the 3DS. It still had the "dogfight mode" in a way, but it did it a lot better. You would get a small transition and then end up behind you opponent, but then if your opponent turned, you wouldn't chase after them like you do in this game. It would put you behind them, but all the movement you made once behind them was up to you. Plus Legacy was a reboot of Ace Combat 2. Same story with a few slight changes so it took place in the Ace Combat universe. For a 3DS game, it was really fucking amazing. And in all honesty, you could play the game and win dogfights just fine without the "dogfight mode.

Warwolf 1: I'm the best Mobius 1: hold my beer

I fucking hate this game being scripted in 90%. Ac:X Alect squadron + fenrir were way more satisfying and, well, hard to say invisible plane is realistic, but still, than this. They would actually die after 3 missles in the face, not after a million of them. Also, they didn't do 'lol I can break the laws of physics'; they'd just turn imvisible when on your 12 and reappear after few sec on your 6 with a missle up your ass. Still better than this. And it was on the freakin' psp!

In my opinion this is the black sheep of the Ace Combat franchise. I love Ace Combat 4 and when I walked into this game thinking it was gonna be like AC4 I was highly disappointed.

Ace Combat Infinity looks good, but I wish they'd just make HD versions of Ace Combat 4, 5, and 6 with updated graphics and sound, and maybe a few new mechanics. But they should stick to the same old, but still the best, formula. Of course, AC:AH was nothing but Call of Doodies: Airplane Drama.

Ace Combat 4,5, and 0 were and still are the best games in the series. The Unsung War was heartrending, as well as it made you cling to it like no other AC game had or even has ever done. The campaign was thrilling, and the character development was great, when your comrade Chopper dies, everything just seemed different and there was that hole as the protagonist that you would personally feel as if you just lost a fellow comrade, a friend at that. That's where the brilliancy in it is. 4 didn't necessarily have the character development as you would think, but all in all, the campaign got me hooked immediately and the replay value is priceless. That was the first Ace Combat game I had ever played, it was so good, and still is, that I even took the game from my grandparent's house when I was much younger just to keep playing it. 0 took things from a different approach, there was some development with the antagonist, which you fought against while he was in he Falken in the end. Its campaign was strong and again, gave you a different perspective on the Ace Combat series. After watching let's plays of Air Combat, 2, and 3, I saw more of the differences in the atmospheres of the Ace Combat series. I agree with you on AH, it was sub-par to what the other games had in them.

Worst Ace Combat boss ever. At least Pasternak in AC6 was actually hard but can be killed by actual in-game mechanics. DFM wasn't that great to begin with. Sure it makes for some grandiose scenes but several instances I can put 6+ missiles into a fighter w/ constant MG spam yet he doesn't die. That's BS.

The worst scripting and unrealistic boss battle in an Ace Combat game goes to Ace Combat: Joint Assault for the Sony PSP handheld. In the final mission over San Francisco, after downing all those fighters, B-2 stealth bombers, and sinking those lethal aegis air defense cruisers, you take on your rival mercenary squadron, shooting down the three wingmen and then go after their leader --IN THAT ORDER! Don't even think about tackling the boss until you have splashed the other members of his squadron, because his Varcolac fighter is about twenty times tougher than the other Varcolac fighters of that squadron. Plus, you have to listen to the boss whine over the radio about his unfortunate childhood and his ambitions to be the best once he shoots you down. Yeah, yeah, blah-blah. You have three instances to damage the boss before you can shoot him down, but he is invulnerable when he's talking, so don't waste ammo when he's yakking all that inane garbage. Even if you are tailgating him with a Falken and are roasting the living hell out of his plane with your TLS death-ray (aka the wavering light saber of doom), you're just wasting laser fuel until he finishes that part of his scripted diatribe against this unfair world. Ugh, I hated that last mission! Forced scripting ruined it. It would have been so much more rewarding if the game allowed you to shoot him down before he was done babbling puerile gibberish! Such as if you used a Russian Su-47 Berkut with her SASMs to take out that simpering swine Sulejmani with those wonderful air-burst missiles regardless of his anti-missile tail guns and cut his complaints short. Ace Combat: Joint Assault is a really good game for the PSP handheld, even with the annoying boss scripting bilge.

cheating AI? have you even met Camilla or ZOE? y'know, those crazy hypermaneuverable AIs... Camilla even has laser UAVs that acts as a missile defense network around her... something she OBVIOUSLY don't need at all, though I must admit fighting her is more enjoyable than fighting this guy

Honestly, If they gameplay of Assault Horizon was replaced with the gameplay of AC7 or the Holy Trinity, I think it would have been a decent game. The downfall is the DFM.

I've just gotten out from under my rock.. Is this actually ace combat?? This seems like something out of Call of Duty! It's just a bloody rail shooter! Ace Combat 6 is my favourite of the series so far (haven't played many). It isn't the typical Russia vs America game, where America cannot lose or the game wouldn't sell. This of course means that it's actually like a war happening. The missions are actually quite hard, for example the final mission on Expert (using the Nosferatu!) took me 17 attempts to complete. And this dogfight mode has just completely killed the fun of it. You're scripted to win by just holding a button for long enough, and the jet flies for you.

This game had me so hyped I enjoyed all the other games alot and then I played it for twenty minutes and was so pissed, on rails dogfighting and restrictive feeling gameplay isn't what an ace combat game should be at all, I turned it off after 20 minutes and never touched it again waste of 50 bucks,

Zero and 5 were my all time favorite. Unlocking every color and plane. My triumph when I unlocked the "Pixy" color for the ADFX-02 Morgan.

Having recently completed this game, I can say the thing which seriously pissed me off in this final mission was that the countermanoeuvre system wouldn't always work - I'd level the plane off and slow it down enough to try and loop around behind Markov, but the controls seemed to refuse to register that I'd hit the right key to do that, leaving me completely open for the QAAMs.

this game is bad even as a movie. they should've made a remake of Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere (the full/japanese version) rather than this bad movie.

More important than "artificial difficulty" is the loss of immersion one gets when one shoots missile after missile, gun shot after gun shot, to no observable effect. It becomes aggravating and distracting. At least in a similar boss fight in Ace Combat Zero, there are stages in the fight and the player feels they are making progress. This is not the case here.

If Ace Combat was a movie franchise, Assault Horizon was the Michael Bay-directed spin-off.

Problem with Assault Horizon is it seems awesome when you watch but it's a crazy mess when you play it, a rollercoaster that fixes you on rails and drags you through a bunch of scripted, frantic, cinematic set pieces that look cool but never feel cool cus you aren't actually playing the game half the time. The old AC games may not have looked that cinematic sometimes, but when you played them and got invested in the stories, and you took on those enemy ace squadrons, you felt like a badass.

4:31 You're wrong, you can certainly dodge them. All you need to do is initiate DFM when missiles are fired then they fly straight. If you are already in DFM then you simply disengage (and initiate right after if possible)

The latest three AC games seem more like "test products": Assault Horizon introduced the "Dogfight mode" (bullshit), and the "Steel carnage" system (plane gore). Infinity was testing a new multiplayer mode (Cue to AC7). Skies unknown is testing the VR mode, the weather system, etc... If NAMCO is onto something, the next strangereal Ace combat (AC8?) is going to be fucking nuts.

The fact that until last year this was the only game the vast majority of people associated with the Ace Combat name(maybe AC06 if they had memories that went back to the early 360 days) is _extremely_ disappointing. Oh and also I'm still mad at Angry Joe for praising this bullshit dogfighting mechanic.

The DFM and Ground Attack Mode mechanisms are the worst most cancerous aicraft game mechanics ever implemented, even more so than H. A. W. X. 's Assistance off mode. The game drove me nuts... Everything was arbitrary. Worst actual game design in the Ace Combat Series.

Back then when I bought this game for PS3 I was coming from Ace Combat 5 and Ace Combat Zero, such masterpieces. My disappointment was unmeasurable, such a shitty game this ended up to be.

It was during my first run on normal difficulty (I don't remember what fancy name they called it) I tried it again on Ace (highest difficulty) to see if there was any differences. There wasn't, except for maybe I took a bit more damage from missiles.

Personally I thought this was a fun fight but nowhere near as intense as the legitimate dogfights with yellow 13 or Strigon squadron in the past games. It's unfortunate because I always have LOVED how such amazing fights can occur in the series, literal jousts can occur and none of it is planned, the game is just very well designed. The replay value of the old games is phenomenal In the new game, once you beat Markov, trying to go after him again would just get very stale and boring.

Man ... i still preffering 4,5 And Zero.. still the best ones... 4 still low ,no really cool characters,but Mobius 1 is awesome no joke,5 really cool story ,cool characters( Chopper is the best one ) ,Zero take the place of the war counted by pieces in 5 The freakin Belkan War... Cipher is a awesome pilot anyway ,Larry and PJ are cool guys and the enemy aces are crazy man... this make the game more cool the aces of Ace combat Zero and the Vs Mode really cool made

How bad is the checkpoint system in this game, what ruined Ace Combat 6 for me was the checkpoint system in the linear missions, those being 'Heavy Command Cruiser', 'Weapons of Mass Destruction' and the last one, here were my problems. 1. HCC; the complete absence of checkpoints so if you died you had to start over from the beginning 2. WMD; the last part and the lack of checkpoints. 3. CHR; The first batch of cooling systems Major lengthy segments (one of them being pretty much the entire mission) where if you died you had to start over completely. I was quite capable and played on Normal, but those three missions FORCED me to play on easy and STILL gave me so much trouble. If you've played the last mission of AC6 you know what happens, I was so fed up with the mission by that point that the event had the WRONG emotional impact as it made me angry rather than sad. The last mission in AC6 ended the game on a sour note for me, unlike Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon which frustrated me two points in the story, but the first time it was followed up by what I call a 'holy shit what the hell just happened moment' that made up for it which immediately followed the frustrating point. The second time was later on as an area frustrated me, but the game's closing act MORE than made up for that. Advance Wars 2 (a game that I had for at least a decade and hadn't actually beaten until I beat it only a MONTH ago) had a mission that pissed me off called Sinking Feeling, it was brutal with the turn limit, but it felt so good beating it, and the final mission (Final Front) MORE than made up for that and is EASILY one of my favorite last missions. Those three missions tarnished what was otherwise a solid game.

So, did they ever even say the names of Warwolf 3 and 4? And did we even have a call sign?
