So glad I picked up the Suri toothbrush. The consistent battery life and eco friendly nature was a big reason i changed over form larger brands. My oral b toothbrush died in one year, it was disappointing for a big brand to not be able to make a toothbrush that can work for more than a year after I spent over £100 on it

Glad you are pleased with SURI. Disappointed to read the Orla-B model broke. Did you get it repaired under warranty? Usually comes with 2 years support.

Thanks for recommending the Braun 3800, nearly spent a load money on an io series and this does the job as well if not better than my previous 9000

I love this electric toothbrush but you can not remove debris between teeth no matter how powerful the motor is. People do not get it, toothbrushes alone WILL NOT REMOVE FOOD BETWEEN TEETH and but if bacteria accumulate between teeth you are in trouble. What you need is an interdental brush like the gap picker.

I use a phillips in the mornings and a manual toothbrush (GUM brand tech brush) at night because I hate the noise electric toothbrushes make. that late at night.

I bought the Oral B iO8 which died after 1 year of use, the battery was quite inconsistent for its last 4 months as it would go from 80% charge to 0% randomly which made it very unreliable to use and eventually it never turned ON again. After an RMA, Braun gave me a brand new iO9 which had the exact same issue and eventually died after exactly a year of use as well. Right after the window of warranty, I tried to fixed it myself by opening up the device but nothing could fix it. The iO toothbrushes serie is very lightweight and is super efficient for brushing/cleaning but it is an ABSOLUTE STEAL ! it costs a fucking arm and has the shittiest quality, even the cheaper Genius models had a longer lifespan. Please save yourself time and money !

I really like your frank and pragmatic advice. I bought the Genius X three and a half years ago. In part because i like gadgets and because I hoped it could help my kids learn to brush all their teeth. That was a failure because of two main reasons: 1: the genius x is not that great at detecting where you're brushing 2: the genius X only has six zones (left middle and right side of the upper and lower teeth). So basically my kids could get a perfect score by obly brushing the front side of their teeth (and even then often just held the brush perfectly still in each zone rather than moving from tooth to tooth). Do you think the IO 9 would be better at helping my kids improve their technique? Does it track the position better than the genius x? I would buy only 1 which they would share (each their own brush of course) given that it's not that cheap.
@ElectricTeeth
@ElectricTeeth Жыл бұрын
Hey, thank you for the comment. The iO9 tracks 16 zones. So yes, arguably the tracking is better and less able to be cheated as your kids have done with the 6 zone tracking of the Genius X. I would suggest there has been some improvement in accuracy, but it is still not perfect. The kids could in theory still hold the brush on all 16 zones and get a pretty good overall score. It is an expensive toothbrush for most people. Do also consider (I expect you are aware) that the brush/app can't detect/track different users. So if you have multiple people using the brush, it sees each as the same person. Thus you can't track each users brushing habits independently. There is definitely a place for helping, but probably, some good one to one education on the benefits of brushing properly and some carefully tailored motivational tactics for each of your child might be just as effective. As a bit of a different approach you could potentially consider the Hum by Colgate. It isn't perfect, but cheaper than the iO9 by quite some way and is quite strict on the tracking. You can have user profiles. But I don't find the cleaning results to be quite as satisfying.
@PersonXes
@PersonXes Жыл бұрын
@@ElectricTeeth Thanks that makes a lot of sense. The idea would indeed not be that the toothbrush replaces my responsibility to motivate and educate my kids but rather to complement it :) The Colgate Hum looks interesting but s not available in my corner of the world (Belgium). I hadn't thought of the fact that the app does not support multiple users, that is indeed good to take into account. I think that's acceptable as it is only relevant for long-term tracking over multiple sessions. It would still give my kids immediate feedback of how they're brushing. I'd use an old smartphone to connect to the tootbrush. No need for perfection in terms of tracking as long as it isn't that often that it defeats the purpose :-)

Since the AirFloss isn’t sold anymore, would you reccomend flossing daily with a waterpik? How well does it keep up to normal flossing
@ElectricTeeth
@ElectricTeeth Жыл бұрын
Cleaning between the teeth with interdental brushes or floss is arguably better than a water flosser alone. If you do normal flossing & a water flosser then that is even better. But if its a case of using a water flosser or nothing at all, then a water flosser is more than good enough.

What would you recommend for receding gums - Sonicare or Oral-B?
@ElectricTeeth
@ElectricTeeth Жыл бұрын
Both do the job of cleaning just fine with receding gums. It's personal preference but many dental professionals recommend Philips for gum recession specifically. Make sure you use a soft bristled head with either.

Hi, we have been using oral-b basic tootbrushes for many years now as a family of five. We have two handles for 10 uses/day. As new they are brilliant. However with use they get worse and worse. First of all, the rubberised grip peeled away on 5 toothbrushes in 6 years. Have others had this issue? Also with time the neck of the toothbrush seem to wear out which keans that even a ned head starts vibrating at the base where it attaches to the brush. Meaning that some of the movement is lost and not transferred to the bristles, especially if pressure is applied. Are other toothbrushes better or no different in this regard?
@ElectricTeeth
@ElectricTeeth 3 ай бұрын
I've personally not had an issue with the rubber grips, but I know others have mentioned this as an issue. Most new models lack such grips, with an all plastic finish instead which is arguably more durable. Most brushes are designed to last 3-5 years on average based on a single user. Although many do last much longer.

Hi mate, love your honest feedback- I had a genius 7000, the button broke on holiday.. the reviews on it are still top being a 2016 brush do you remember using one ? If so what can I replace with now i am lost in this market !
@ElectricTeeth
@ElectricTeeth Жыл бұрын
I know this brush. Do you use all the cleaning modes & bluetooth features? If so, a good mid-range brush to replace this would be the iO Series 6. The iO heads are a bit more expensive unfortunately. You could pick up the slightly older, but still great Genius X. This will use the same brush heads as the Genius 7000. If you don't use all these extra modes and features, something like the Smart 1500 from Oral-B performs well for the price.

So in this instance it would be the Genius X. There is a softer sensation to the iO6. But the Smart 1500 (assuming your in the USA) is basically identical to the Genius X from a 'firmer' brush perspective.
