My first firearm was a Turkish Mauser. Bought it for $80 after I turned 18, and I still have it. The ammo can be costly though, and I learned a valuable lesson about scoping out ammo prices before investing in a firearm. The action is butter smooth, and it's always a treat to shoot.

Although he always carried a 9mm UZi behind the passenger's headrest in his '59 Chevy, many photos exist of Fidel with his trusty 98K, because it was his favorite weapon when living in the Cuba hills with his guerrilla buddies. "Reach out and touch someone was the ATT advertisement at the time, but could have been used for the 98K accurately as well.

Now do the other German bolt action Rifle, the Gewehr 98. The real model 1898 the Karabiner tries to emulate.

Ummm...the Kar98 was not created in the 20th century. It was made in 1898. Germany first adopted the Kar98 in 1908 (KAR 98AZ). The German army decided to adopt the rifle again in 1935. The Kar98 first saw action in the Spanish-American War in 1898 and was the best rifle on the field at that time. During the first world war it was outperformed by the 1903 Springfield. The reason for this is the Springfield was almost a carbon copy of the Kar98 but with some design improvements. Germany actually sued over this and won. During the second world war Germany once again went with the Kar98. The rifle was definitely competent but by WW2 it was getting a bit dated. The best rifle on the field by far was the M1 Garand. The Garand held 3 more rounds, was semiautomatic, and carried very similar ballistics.

The Kar98K was designed in the 20s but was made in the 30s as a loophole in the TOV but it’s just a worse made Gewehr 98 but shorten down it’s a good infantry rife for the 1930s but not for the war as when the Americans came with M1‘ it showed that Germany standard was almost obsolete. It’s power and the mass abundance kept them in service and because so many were made the Soviet Union didn’t mind handing them out like candy to communist Guerillas or anti Americans forces until the 70s when newer AKM‘s became the norm for third world country’s. It’s a good rifle I love it’s father’s but I hate the Nazi idea and I just would rather use an imperial Gewehr over a fascist carbine.

Dont get me wrong, i love the G98. But the Kar98k is superior between the two. And the loophole was the number of rifles being made for the army. Watch the video that Forgotten weapons has posted here. He explains better than me. Its called: ‘’1930’s German rearmament JP Sauer’s pre-K98k Rifle’’
