The sad part is it was completely preventable. the pilot took massive unreasonable risks with everybodys lives flying into weather while VFR, without major guidence from air control. its called "get there-itis" in the aviation community. I'm sure the fact that he wanted to please his famous boss had a big part in it. judging by the fact that they already had a 15 minute delay being put in a hold for traffic. he probably felt rushed to make it to their event on time.

@@HardKore5250 it means "visual flight rules" basically it means you need to stay out of clouds and weather. because you are not getting direct guidance from air control. pilots flying into clouds all the time, but they get a "IFR" clearance and start receiving exact navigation from air control so you dont, you know....fly into a mountain or something...

I'm so sorry for your loss, hon. My heart goes out to you as well as all the families who lost loved ones on this helicopter. I lost my husband which was kinda expected but still we are never ready to lose them and unexpected loss like yours and these folks just combines grief with even more pain. I got upset yesterday reading many posts I found offensive and disrespectful to all the victims and their loved ones because everyone grieves differently. People were judging these family members etc and it really upset me. They are in shock as you were I'm sure in your loss. I was for a long time even tho I had some time prior to my loss but still all death leads to shock at different levels. People were saying they'd have done this or that but I doubt they know how THEY would truly react if God forbid it WAS them and their loved ones. But thats people sadly in this social media age😓. My ❤ is breaking for all these families and for you, sweetie. Sending them and you and your family love, hugs and sincere condolences .

Yeah that seems kind of insensitive, it's bad enough it took as long as it did to mention the others in the accident. I understand they couldn't name the others til after family members were notified first which is quite understandable, but it seems they weren't acknowledged as much as they should've been. They were important people as well to their community and families even though they weren't legendary basketball players,they were still pretty terrific to others in their lives.

I hate when people talk out of their asses without proof. There is an actual video footage of his flight path and it shows the exact moment the helicopter dropped below 1100 feet to the ground.

@Cee L I can understand your frustration and you're not alone. Everyone is asking about the other people on the flight and that's fine, but to call someone garbage is a bit out of line. You don't have to be a professor at MIT to recognize that people grieve for those they are most familiar with. There are 7.7 billion people in the world today, and about 150,000 of them die each day. We don't grieve for all of them, just the one's we're familiar with...It's common sense. If Kobe wasn't on that plane we wouldn't have even heard about the crash. Now that we are getting the heartbreaking stories and getting to know these people, our hearts hurt for them as well. So we say a prayer for them and we pray for their families. This is not about politics, every single person on that plane was either a friend or family. There is no place for divisiveness. We can grieve for all of them or none of them, but we can't act like imbeciles and call other human beings "garbage" because we don't understand them, or even the basics of human nature. Come on! If Teresa Billion was making a statement and saying that the other people on the plane don't matter then she will rot in hell, if not she may be just grieving the loss of life she was more familiar with...which is what we all do. I hope it's the latter, but it's not my place to judge.
