It’s not the end of the world, but it is a significant loss. Rumor has it his top assistant will get the job. Big difference in NFL S&C & College. Herb may get over there & not like the level of control which you have more of in college. The Blake Corum story about Coach Herb that Klatt told would never work in the NFL. At any rate, I think Michigan will be fine! Sherrone Moore showed me who he was on the road at Penn St. That was just flat out nasty! He doesn’t care about the opponent or their feelings! BRAVO! GO BLUE!!

Your right. I don’t know how many good staff members we can lose and still maintain excellence. It’s gonna be tough. Sherron Moore is gonna have to make great hires in order for this first year to go well. It’s gonna be fun as a wolverine to watch this new group of guys come in and replace this championship group. One thing we have on our side is a championship level culture and player expectations. You can’t fake that and the young guys comin up saw what it takes to win it all.

With the new NIL and transfer portal Michigan will have to start paying up, which Warde does NOT want to do. Among many other reasons I would like to see a new AD to go along with Moore and new coaching staff. Funny thing is now that Herbert is goin to that chargers staff also i get a feeling they are gonna go at it like a big grind just like Jim did in San Fransico when the players/ management ended up running him outta town after one 500 season. Jims a great coach and his style is really good in college. But getting premadonna 50 million dollar athletes to buy into that kinda grind it out style isnt as easy. I think Jim will be successful for a short span then his quirkiness and old school approach will wear on the players and management once again and he will be ran out just like he was in San Fran. Most these NFL players utilize their own trainers often and Herbert will have more of a preventative medical type role.

The effectiveness of Rodney Terry’s response to horns down was proven out in two back-to-back ranked team wins following that loss. More power to him. If a player wants to taunt, he’s earned the label “classless” - it goes with the taunt. In my opinion, feeling hurt by the response is thin skinned. You start the cycle when you choose to taunt a player or team, take what you are dishing out. No one can criticize you if you only cheer for yourself instead of taunting others.

As a life-long Texas fan, I have never understood the pearl-clutching offense taken to the Horns Down gesture. I have turned my Thumbs Down to aggie fans for years, and received Horns Down in return. It is a part of the college football culture. No different than chants at home games, or fight songs that bad-mouth your rival. It is a part of the game. It just makes everyone do it worse when you let them know it gets to you, so you are achieving the opposite result by bringing attention to it.

None of this adds up. JH wins the National championship at his Alma mater then leaves for a second tier NFL franchise and proceeds to gut the entire staff. I think JH knows Michigan is guilty and I think these coaches know as well. Why else would the strength coach leave to the NFL where he will be a glorified nutritionist? Michigan or JH sold their soul for a National Championship and are getting out while the getting is still good.

Were that the case, though, top players like Will Johnson, Donavon Edwards, Colston Loveland, etc. wouldn't be returning this season. It would be so incredibly easy for those guys to jump ship and find a playoff-contender team that would take and start them this fall, likely even with more NIL money to boot. In this day and age, top players only stick with their program from one year to the next if they have full faith in it, especially in a case where the head coach leaves and a long transfer window is put right in their lap.

Jim was thinking about his nearing retirement age. Most would rather do it in the warm climate on the left coach than in the cold of the Upper Midwest.

It won't be good without Ben Herbert.....Warde Manuel is back in full control now. He's got a young 1st time coach who he can "mold" and influence. Only 2 types of coaches win the Natty in this age. The Saban type who rule with an iron fist over the entire department or the K. Smart type who get support from every side of the university because the "program" runs the university. This is why Harbaugh is arguably the greatest coach in football today; he got the Natty with one arm tied behind his back. Between the admission restrictions, NIL, & 'stick up their a$$es' academics it is literally a miracle that team 144 won the Natty. Talk about the stars aligning!! If you pay attention to everything that Warde has said about NIL vs. Sherrones statement, it is a read the tea leaves moment. They are completely opposite. Herbert going to the Chargers tells you EVERYTHING you need to know. It is a sad day and the NATTY doesn't quell it.

💯. Stunning that people don’t see this is a FULL reset of the program…and giving it to a really nice guy with 1 ur of play calling exp, and ZERO HC experience. With a ton of talented players exiting. UM should have hired the most exp guy they could find.

Harbaugh is the one who tied his arm behind his back. Plus because of COVID-19 extra year and the development of the portal it was a one off situation. Harbaugh wasn't likely to ever win another National Championship. Look how long it took him to get past Ohio St. the first time and only when Ohio St. lost their National Championship caliber coaches. Day may get their yet, but he definitely isn't there now.

Jim harbaugh just tore down what he built, taking his son jay with him, yeah okay I get, taking jesse with him, yeah okay, it hurts but I get, but taking herbert with him?! are you kidding me?? the dude will just be a glorified nutrisionist in the NFL, where he was really important to michigan. So much for loving michigan, I think he just killed us. Maybe im over reacting, but ffs man.

Warde should be fired for waiting til Harbaugh said I'm outta here to offer.. I believe he would've stayed if the idiots didn't drop the ball.. Michigan will be middle of the pack for decades going forward. Harbaugh was generational and letting him go is inexcusable. Moore will ride Garbaughs coattails for a year then the program will struggle greatly.

I am extremely disappointed in Harbaugh. Not the Michigan Man I thought he was. He could be ruining the Michigan program though I like Moore as head coach. This reminds me of Pete Carrol fleeing to the NFL to avoid NCAA sanctions, so maybe Harbaugh knows that bad sanctions are coming. I should also point out that he got four championships because many players stayed at Michigan. Not him though. I consider him a quitter. Bo was a Michigan man, Lloyd Carr was too, they stayed up to retirement. Not Harbaugh, not a Michigan man. Just a guy looking for money. I add McCarthy to my opinion too. He won because players stayed. Not him.

Taking Herbert is kinda a slap in the face. It doesn't even make sense for the Chargers or as a career move for Ben CFB -> NFL as a strength and conditioning coach is a downgrade... good luck getting 30yo millionaires to show up to team workouts when they all have gyms at their houses and personal trainers
