What Will Subnautica 3 Be Like?

With the third game in the Subnautica universe confirmed to be in the early stages of development, you have to wonder: When everything is fully fleshed out, what will Subnautica 3 be like? Where will it take place? What will be the premise of the game? Well, in today's video, I've essentially created three very in-depth concepts for what I think Subnautica 3 will be like that will each consist of ideas for the game's story, biomes, flora, fauna, gameplay and much more.
This project has taken me several months to create. The goal in mind was to create the best video I have ever made for this channel. So I really hope you enjoy :)

I love the first idea! I'm with the community with the depths of 4546b, but I've personally called the game 'Subnautica: unknown depths' the main difference with your and my idea, is that the fact that the mine didn't feature escaping the depths, just exploring them, the work you've put in these is just insane... Subnautica unknown: depths wouldd feature a lot of the community made stuff like the atlas submarine and the gargantuan leviathan, I'd explain it in more detail... But KZfaq comments don't have enough space for that, if you're interested, just let me know, no pressure. :)

those are basicly all ideas the fanbase can come up with besides a prequel (that would be diffecult to set up) with the degasi. but I agree the details you have for the first two sound good :D

For the crush depths (first one): have fun with light/dark mechanics. For example in the first area all creatures seem to be afraid of light, including the more aggressive ones. The player learns this and begins feeling confident, only to find the scarier creatures in the next zone are attracted to it (switching priority from lights to night vision). This mechanic can be enhanced to use light and darkness to attract, scare, and bait creatures with options for doing so at range.

Great idea! This would really add to the horror aspect if the game and incorporate an aspect of skill/knowledge which you can only get from playing the game a few times.

Crush depth leaves so much space for freedom when designing biomes- below zero had (arguably) a lot of faults which I won’t get into but crush depth would give the devs the ability to introduce and entirely new set of creatures and biomes completely different to what we’ve seen before, as well as introducing new characters of actual consequence to the story, I love this concept so much lmao why wasn’t below zero just completely replaced by this

If you check out some of the concepts for the original game, there's actually a scrapped biome that would have been dominated by a single celled organism that reacted violently to light. The concept art depicts what appears to be an early precursor to the cyclops being grabbed and pulled downward by this disgusting black ooze

I imagine Crush Depth takes place during the events of subnautica 1 and while Riley is on the safe shallows. After all, around 25 pods, and we can only find a few. That means a few were bound to have landed in the void.

I absolutely love the Crush Depth idea. It sounds both fascinating and terrifying, and you’ve created such a plausible scenario for the survival/exploration aspects, the frightening loneliness and isolation, and the story elements that made the original Subnautica so compelling. I liked Below Zero, but it lacked that isolation that really upped the anxiety factor for me in the original. This would bring that back.

100%! Those survival game elements combining curiosity with tension are what made exploration and discovery SO rewarding, and also what made the first game so immersive for me. It was disappointing when Below Zero lacked so much of this. I also found the blabby protagonist and forced humour of the PDA constantly broke the immersion for me. Crush Depth with a silent protagonist has my vote, hands down.

That ending concept for crush depth is awesome. Having the escape be not just a cutscene of a spaceship blasting off like the previous two games, but a fully player-controlled chase sequence that acts as the ultimate form of one of the series’s most iconic elements: running away from big scary creatures. Itd be sick to end the game just speeding upward through a massive cave, maybe on some super fast submarine designed specifically for tremendous speed (maybe this game’s equivalent of the rocket) with a gigantic creature chasing close behind you collapsing walls and such. Think something along the lines of irate eight from donkey kong tropical freeze. Of course with subnautica’s signature sick beats playing over it to give it a sense of intensity and awesomeness.

the problem is, what happens if you fail? do you get a bad ending? do we get a reload try again? or is it just a no fail no matter how bad?

@@marcosdheleno Id just say restart you at the beginning of the cutscene. That seems like the most realistic and likely possibility, given what ive seen from other games with this sort of ending. Usually when you lock yourself into the final sequence of a game, you just keep trying until you finish.

For Subautica Crush Depth there could be a decompression sickness feature / system that prevents the player from ascending too quickly with their submarines / with swimming. This could act as a counter-depth module feature to act as another barrier for the player.

This mechanic is explored in great detail in Made In Abyss, an anime about descending deeper and exploring a massive hole that goes for thousands of kilometers vertically. It could also serve as a great inspiration for the void's creatures and maybe how the void itself, which is just a mere structure that consists of a series of interwoven caves, actually is a living construct that controls and feeds on everything that exists within it.

I want Ryley back too. He was such a cool protagonist. I hope that in the next game, he will, in some way, meet Robin and maybe even AL-an and try to take down Alterra once and for all with his new friends

For more quality of life in each subnautica game, I wish unknown worlds would add an inverse of the glass dome for both room, like, a glass floor pit that you can step down into, and looking down you can see below the base.

The leviathan in the entrance of the cave would be cool and it should have some sort of god complex. Thinking it's better then every other creture around and your character decides to take it out or trap it down there. Maybe on your escape out you blow up the cave system blocking it in there.

Or this, The games leads you to a mission to go search for something on the leviathan cave, It's a very important thing that helps you to move forward into the story, But it in the way searching for it, You must hide from the leviathans by using strategies or something, The leviathans are huge and dangerous, And would be pretty hard to kill, So the only way to survive is to avoid it.

To add to your god complex idea, it would be cool if the baby emperor leviathans released in subnautica had grown up, and they help in your escape and help you best the evil leviathan. This would ruin the god complex of the evil leviathan and be quite satisfying to triumph over a creature with such a large ego. The new emperor leviathans would give a few well placed references to the OG survivor from the first game, of course ;)

i would love a Subnautica game based deep in the void in caves with things like massive squids or crabs with other things like leviathans based on real life deep sea creatures, it would be cool if you had to go out of the caves at one point in the story and fight off ghost leviathans and the gargantuan leviathan, but then again i would love a sequel to below zero

if we just use the current progression from Sub 1 to Beyond Zero; Subnautica 3 will no doubt tell an emotional and highly personal story of a transgender, furry-kin researcher trying to fight against the judgmental attitudes from their peers and family. In between the journal entries, romance scenes and dialog trees, there may be a few underwater missions and we may see a reaper. And IGN will say, "Stunning and brave. 10/10"

As much as I adore a Subnautica co-op experience, I think it would be hard to do. This can’t just be Subnautica but now there’s more people. It needs to be enforced co-op to work well. What I mean is, it would have to emphasize working together. For example, having a massive submarine that REQUIRES at least 2 people to operate, or saving friends from a fish that grabs you, etc. You should have to rely on your team.

I like that idea, but it would be hard for people who don't have people to play with like me. I loved the first 2 games and I would be distraught if I couldn't play the third because I don't have another player. It would be cool if they had a balance between solo and multi player. Like having better gear and more security with multi, but more stealth and resources with solo

yeah the good part about subnautica was being alone. the game would have to be way harsher and tighter in design to give anywhere near as good an experience in multiplayer.

Crush Depth’s concept is really cool - even though I’m skeptical about the effectiveness of it’s creature-as-villain, action packed ending. I like Genesis a lot - especially it’s use of bacterial evolution in the story (maybe Alan could be running around on his own instead of being essentially a damsel in distress). And New World would make a great sandbox to store random ideas as Unknown Worlds develops other stuff, which would definitely keep people engaged during long breaks between great games.

I think Crush Depth is the best of the three here. Though, I do think that it could fit the dark/ominous atmosphere if some things were changed. I think the idea of a large leviathan organism lying dormant in the caves is an awesome idea, but instead of having it be the idea behind the plot, it's more of a cameo or something that you learn later in the game. The character could possibly find old abandoned Architect bases that give hints to a large leviathan living dormant in the cave walls, but you never actually fully interact with it like you do with the Emperor. I think if it was something more like the Frozen Leviathan (but not as garbage or an idea) would be awesome because it gives you the sense that you're playing the game close to a creature that compares to the Emperor Leviathan or even maybe the Gargantuan 😳 But that's what the concepts are for right? Creating ideas and merging them together to make an amazing concept! Good job on the video keep up the good work 😉

@@bobthenut ok but you should be able to see a huge leviathan swimming outside the cave. You can see it from little holes that leads to the outside. Have you ever played Seashine before? Well in that game a huge creature comes out of the dark for a second just to bite you, then goes back into the dark. Know something is lurking in the dark that can crush you in a bite is just scarier. That’s the idea I’m goin with in subnautica 3.

@@bobthenut Personally I like yours better. To up the dread a bit perhaps "glimpses" of it could be seen. Like a spot where you suddenly see a giant eye open for example. And it could still be a threat to you indirectly by for example causing tremmors that cause rocks to fall dealing damage to the player if they land on you and things of that sort. But personally I think subnautica should stick to terror>horror like the first game did best

Those are amazing concepts! I like the first one the most: it's something people would be satisfied with ( if done correctly ), it's very unique and introduces a lot of new possibilities. The second kinda makes more sense though since the ending of below zero should actually have a meaning. A lot can be done with the last one but the devs should be careful how to make a new world that would still have the spirit of it's predecessors As a fan of both games it would be great if the third game combined what the original and below zero succeded in: a big open world with dangerous creatures, intriguing story, new mechanics and beautiful enviorements. Now all we can do is wait for whatever comes next, the team needs more time to create something truly amazing :)

Maybe Crush Depth could incorporate AL-AN by him returning to 4546B with the news that he is indeed one of the last Architects of his kind, and he notices that there are some architect bases in the depths that he hasn’t ever seen before. He decides to help the main character with researching and gathering resources, and he learns more about what his predecessors were trying to do and discover with the bases down there. I do think Crush Depth would be an amazing Subnautica game concept, and I really wanna see it happen, whether it’s a fan-made little mod or a fully-fleshed out game. Maybe it could be multiplayer, like the last few survivors struggling to escape and survive, and in the escape scene the players all man the sub like “IMMA DRIVE YOU GUYS GOTTA GET THE ENGINE IN CHECK” and the other guy’s like “DUDE THE WINDOW JUST FUCKING CRACKED” and the third guy is just “guys the engine’s on fire” I think the cooperative escape scene in multiplayer would be SO awesome and fun.

I recall in one of the dev's time capsules, they revealed how an extremely early concept for Subnautica was to have the player progress through the game by going deeper and deeper into a massive underwater cave system, much deeper than where we go in the final game. I think a vertically based progression is the most logical idea to explore for a third game imo

Because of deep sea gigantism, I'd love to see some previous "extinct" leviathans appear with slightly altered appearances (due to evolution bc suddenly they were forced under) Crush depth is such a cool concept

I hope Subnautica 3 uses most, if not all of the unused concepts for the first 2 games. I am in LOVE with the official Subnautica concept art, and would LOVE to see it all used in game. Of course this would be difficult, but it would 100% be worth it in my opinion. Big ol monsters, cute little fish, beautiful scenery and scary, SCARY world-border leviathans. I love you, Subnautica! I would love to see what the team does next!

really like the first and second idea but the first one could be made into a co-op having more non destroyed life pods for each person. they could each have different spawn locations making it interesting for each player try to meet up with each other

Really nice concepts, the first one is pretty similar to SUBNAUTICA: INTO THE UNKNOWN, a concept I made a while ago. Here is the concept: STORY: You play as Richard, a survivor of the impact in an unknown area of 4546b. It was sent with his team to investigate on the source of a powerful telematic signal from a little-known area of the planet. The impact was due to a computer virus which made the ship impossible to maneuver. Richard is the only survivor of the impact and it has to survive in this really deep zone (from 0 to 2300 meters). During the playthrough Richard will discover that the source of the signal were the baby Sea Emperors from the first game, now grown, which merged their minds to send an help signal. They are asking for help to stop a plague even worse than the Kharaa which is destroying the planet's flora and fauna. This plague is also immune to the Enzyme 42. The Emperors felt the bacteric flow and travelled in that direction through the dead zone to try to understand the cause of that plague. Now the player will have to travel through very deep biomes and cave systems, through many scary and aggressive leviathans, to find two new very strange Precursor facilities. During the playtrough the player will also recieve many threats from an unknown being, this one telling him to leave the planet if he wants to live. One of the facilities is the Contamination facility, the source of the bacterium, and the other is the Primary Control Facility, where it lives De-Ath, a rebel Precursor who, tired of obeying to the Web, exiled to 4546b with the purpose to exterminate all the creaures on the planed using a more powerful version of the Kharaa, the Omega Kharaa, with the objective to create an entire population of creatures immune to the effects of the Omega Kharaa and designed to venerate De-Ath forever. De-Ath was also the one who hacked the Sunset's system and made it crash to prevent anyone from interrupting the plan, the one who sent the threat messages to Richard and also the one who created many of the horrific leviathans to kill the protagonist. Once in the Primary Control Facility, Richard will have to face up to a final boss, a terrifying genetic variation of the Reaper, before being able to take down De-Ath and being able to pick up the cure made by the Precursor and use the Sea Emperors to carry it and travel across the planet and cure it definitely. Now Richard will be able to build the rocket and escape the planet. GAMEPLAY MODE: This game will have very deeper and darker biomes and scarier leviathans compared to the other two games. It points more to the fear of the unknown and has a more horror atmosphere. During the playthrough the player will have to face up to bloody, abyssal and even magnetic biomes and caves to reach alien facilities and to find the shards indispensable for the projects. The first one is my favorite, I love scary Subnautica. That said, Subnautica games so far have been meant to be relatively easy for survival games, since the main focus of the games is really just exploration and discovery. A game set in the void would probably be harder, and potentially much harder than previous installments. Which would make some fans excited! But others, not so much. I’d love it if they could do it right, though, and build the game around exploration rather than hardcore survival.

I really love the idea of Genesis. It would actually continue as a sequel, rather than just be its own new story popped out from thin air, like Crush Depth or New world would be. I'm aching to see where AL-AN's story goes and I'm gonna be really disappointed if they aren't gonna continue down that path. Just gotta wait and see though.

I would be really sad to see AL-AN's death though, honestly I don't want them to leave the ending on a sad note like the loss of that much of a major character. They could make this good by making you able to rebuild AL-AN and make a clean resolution unless they want to make more and add cliffhanger which I doubt and them both going somewhere else for a new adventure.

@@ancientsins8400 I mean honestly a sad ending builds upon the world alot, and refrains the series to go into the same "happy ending, all's well with the world 😃" gimmick that many, not only game series, but also movie series fall into. A bit of tragedy hits like a punch in a freezing weather, but sometimes it's necessary to give texture to the characters and the world. A good example of this is The Last of us Part 2. (Spoiler alert) No one liked to see Joel gone, but what would keep Ellie fighting on if it wasn't for such a tragedy. It gives her a reason and a story to follow.

Crush Depth is definitely my favorite of the three. The previous Subnuatica games did have some horror element to them, but not as strong as this concept. Would really make for a cool game.

Honestly I'm in love with Subnautica Crush Depth. It sounds amazing, I love the concept of a creature that can communicate with you and is not friendly. I would 100% buy this game and enjoy playing it. Don't get me wrong, Subnautica Genesis sounds incredible as well, It's just that I like Subnautica Crush Depth more. Maybe Subnautica Crush Depth with elements of Subnautica Genesis would be the perfect game. The thing I don't like about Subnautica New World is that it is on completely different planet. I feel like if it's a Subnautica game it should be on 4546B. That's my opinion tho :)

i loved the first idea you gave, the idea of an intelligent beast out smarting the player into what it wants and a terrifying chase scene at the end of the game seems super cool, also just the idea of neat and glowing animals that are MASSIVE is also pretty terrifying, though the plot was very similar to the og subnautica it would be really cool to see bigger creatures like that, and an idea of a giant creature emerging from unsettled dirt and approaching the player while condescending their every move is.., wow. I also think other ideas like what happened before subnautica 1 where you play as the people who were there before riley or even the alien species would be really sick, i’m not sure but the idea of there being a real enemy who tricks you into finding him and being absolutely gigantic is something i would LOOOVE to see, it would be super hard to pull off but DAMN would it be cool

I definitely love the idea of “silence”. Its so terrifying and matches the whole subnautica style so well! Now imagine exploring the seas deep deep down and then you hear this loud, terrific and long roar of this creature. Absolutely wonderful theory.

I think your idea of Genesis is the perfect finale and would tie up Subnautica into a great trilogy. I really hope Unknown Worlds continues their unique survival/exploration style of gaming. A space version would be extremely fun.

I really like all of these pitches! Personally the first is my favorite, as I kinda thought myself that going even deeper would be the best way to go, making it a very different, bigger world entirely. But all of these are great! Who knows maybe the final product will have a mixture of some of these ideas and more! In any case, I’m so excited to see what UnknownWorlds does next for the Subnautica universe, however long we have to wait (but hopefully not TOO long :p)

Well they need to do concepts and such and get together a playable demo. Then we’ll likely have a couple years of community beta testing like the other two games so unknown worlds can get some fan feedback that will help shape the game into something we will enjoy. So itl probably be a while.

I think for a cave game, it would be well within the theme of the game to be swallowed by a gargantuan leviathan and have to explore the insides of the creature looking for a way to escape.

For crush depth, a good biome would be that concept for the first game, where a giant creature lives on the void floor and it reaches up tentacles to grab you and pull you down

Your first idea is very similar to what I was hoping for. A ship or submarine gets damaged, sunken, and soon destroyed by a gigantic leviathan (possibly the originator if the bloop) . So the character doesn't get crushed by the depth pressure of the water immediately upon entering the water, Your character would wake up in a broken off portion of the ship. You'd have to go around the ship and scavenge for a extreme-depth suit of some sort before breaking out through a bulkhead, or escape pod. (the escape pod would not be able to properly deploy, leaving you stuck in the depths ) Upon entering the water, you'd find your self deep in the bottom of the void where the primary objective is making it to the surface to call for help. Of course, if you'd try to swim upwards on your own, you'd get taken out by either the same creature that took out the ship, or another unknown horror. SO, you'd progress through the game by exploring the wreck of your ship, other peoples ships, underwater caves, and maybe an abandoned Architect research facility. This would be a great opportunity to bring back the classic single player , isolated and terrifying feel the original game had. Plus, it would be a PERFECT excuse to bring back the unused sandworm!

I have a bit of a wishful thinking-prediction on Sub 3. I want us to play as the guy from the begining of Below Zero, who takes a crew (multiplayer) to go and find Robin since she disappeared at the end on BZ. And at some point in the game, we could stumble upon a base in perfect condition, we explore, and hear someone enter. We hide, and see Riley Robinson (Subnautica 1 protagonist) enter the room, and we get some awesome lore drops in his dialogue, and maybe he even teams up with us.

I absolutely adore the first idea. Not only does it have potential for aestectics, but it also gets rid of the safe shallows that we all so much depend on. We depended on the light of the surface because we knew the lower we go, the scarier, more dangerous the monsters. Being forced into a deep, enclosed space makes sure you feel pressured to get out and find the safest spot, get out your comfort zone, and you need to be careful since you don't know what creatures hate light and what creatures adore it.

I have 3 ideas for crush depth: 1. what if we were introduced to the big void leviathan when we see a ghost leviathan swimming to us and then the void leviathan gets it with its mouth and drags it away 2. Imagine how sick it would be if we could find the ship we came on underwater. Like your swimming, using ur flashlight and then you see a massive vehicle. 3. What if the game ends when you go to the surface of the water, a cutscene plays that shows you diving out of the water and then seeing the Aurora crash

I think a good idea for a void subnutica game would be to have some massive creatures that aren’t hostile to you due to how small you are in comparison and maybe only attack you if you attack them maybe some of the creatures fight like giant squids and sperm whales do. It would also make you feel even more insignificant I feel and allow for massive creatures to exist but not be as dangerous unless you get in their way

I would love it, if the new game could make you distrustful towards your instruments and your own senses. For example if instruments are affected by the depths and sometimes give incorrect readings or malfunction completely. In terms of senses, in silent dark areas where harmless anglerfish like creatures share similarities with dangerous larger creatures and even resources you find on walls or the ocean floor. Imagine you are swimming in the dark and you see a faint light. It could be either a) great source of food/resources or b) death lurking. You won’t know until you’re close enough and it begins to move. I think that would really keep me on the edge when playing. I would also love more subtle sounds that are harder to discern than roars.

Crush Depth definitely seems like a good move with the devs, because it still leaves the story open for more games to come. It could also be multiplayer, and the final escape scene could be co-op like one person drives the sub and the other person makes sure the engine doesn’t explode or something. I really wanna see something like Crush Depth come to fruition. I would _love_ to play it, and i would love watching my dad shit his pants because it’s so scary even more (he has thalassophobia, him playing the OG subnautica was a HUGE stretch for him lol).

im currently watching and i love the crush depth concept. It looks cool. also a cool idea would be that where you crash are small caves, but as you go further you reach a huge cave, maybe called the wilds. Filled with many leviathans, and maybe even the gargantuant leviathan. It would actualy give a use for the huge submarine bc it is a long journey, in the more wild part of the wilds you would have to run around the ship, activating decoys fixing things n stuff. It could be very intesnse. I also see a potential for 2 players as the lifepod has 2 seats. In the wilds you could reach different areas as freaky jelly caves. Deep chasams, Stalgantite filled caves and so much more.

I feel like a more terrifying reason for not being able to go straight up is there are leviathans hunting all the time above you. Similar to how you can't go to the void in the base game.

Crush depth is my favorite, though your continued storyline does sound awesome for genesis. The main reason I would like crush depth is for the horror aspect. I just felt like below zero wasn't scary enough. I feel like if you expanded the story for crush depth it would make for a great game! In addition I had my own ideas for subnautica 3 already, like a co-op game where riley and robin would host a survival/science school on 4546B about 10 years after below zero. The school would be mobile and floating and on an exploration "field trip" around the planet, you get blown around by a strange storm that suddenly shoots you into a new sector of the planet, once there, the school gets attacked by a giant leviathan where riley and robin try to protect you, but get sucked into the depths, the leviathan then lands one massive attack on the school and you too get thrown down deep into the water. This is where subnautica crush depth would begin. You would play as the classmates and this would open up co-op for the game as well as expanding the crush depth story. Also I just want to see a robin/riley team up battle :) Throughout the game you'd have to save riley and robin too. And there riley could explain how he paid off his dept to alterra, and robin could explain how she save the archetects. Robin's story could also become a DLC as well. Anyways, that was just my slice of the cake, and I'd like to know what other hardcore subnautica fans would like as well.

I really like all of the concepts but the last two are my favorite the first one felt cool but wouldn't make much sense for what the void actually is but it's a cool idea and super unique nonetheless for the second concept I think it would be possible to implement a co-op mode and at a certain point in the game fairly early on you'd find broken and abandoned bases most destroyed by leviathans and some scanner fragments and stuff like that scattered around as well thanks to Riley Robinson who would have taken space travel as a new hobby since he's not very welcomed at Earth because Alterra would say that he was intruding on a planet he didn't own and was intruding on government property and since Altera is powerful enough many people would believe them and hate Riley making Earth unhabitable for him so he steals a ship not a very big one though sort of like the endgame rocket in subnautica one you could turn this feature on and off and that would spawn and despawn a working base where you would find Riley fairly early on in the game there would probably be a PDA entry or something saying that there's strange lights around a cave or something on an island like the one you started on the last and third concept would be awesome but I think it would be a bit better if the game didn't really have that much of a directive other than do certain missions and or quests and get space books to expand your base I don't know if it should have an end goal but it could also be multiplayer there could be many missions like get a DNA sample from this certain creature or scan this certain plant and you would get data right away if after scanning and it would give you space bucks via something called either a data terminal or something which would send the data straight to a huge ship in the sky around the planet and they would send out space box to you to expand your starting base which consists of a small storage room a small fabrication room and a data station as well as a main room which would basically be half of a large room basically a square multipurpose room the building would basically look the same with some extra features and buildings such as a storm defense station a control room where you can change the name color and interior of your base there would also be some decoration items such as phonic decorations and it shares tables shelves Etc scan missions would give less space bucks then other missions because you don't have to transfer the data with the data terminal you could just send it to the ship as soon as you get back in your base via the data terminal but you don't have to wait to turn it into Data a four-player game like that would be awesome all of these are great ideas in both this comment in my opinion and in your video sorry for the long comment but I hope you enjoyed the ideas

this concept is absolutely incredible, i wouldnt be able to play it but id love to see and watch it Edit: THERES A SECOND ONE, ALSO SUPER GOOD Edit2: I feel like the second concept would hit harder with a less happy ending, imo..like the disease has gone too far with you that even the kill switch can't prevent your inevitable demise. So Robin, being as selfless as she is, dies while helping complete the final task of rebuilding the ship. I also like the idea of we don't know and AL doesn't know she's at deaths door so it's extra impactful, and AL can no longer parade himself as superior and lacking in emotion..I can see a lot of potential in his impact on his kind after this experience, especially as he's celebrated as a hero but he knows he didn't truly do anything other than activate stuff Robin put all the work into finding.

Edited version of mine with fixed typos and better sentences and even a changed opinion sort of: I had a wonderful plan for Subnautica 3, "Subnautica Above the atmosphere." it takes place after Ryley Robinson tries to escape from planet 4546b instead he ends up in the space surrounding his rocket. The deeper in space you go the faster 02 drains there would also be mini planets (Mostly breathable atmospheres) to stop by at to get exclusive materials. I think there would also be Shuttle bases (sort of like the Degasi) With a sample of a Sea Otter pup (There would be some lore of a guy on the Auroa with an obsession of Sea otters so he brought some and he ejected too soon.) Now back to The shuttles they would be on planets and could even work as a temporary shelter, that's all for the basic map items: 02 tanks: MK 1 [Capacity 100] MK 2 [Capacity 350] MK 3 [Capacity 400] Ultra [Capacity is 600 because I think the map would be huge!] There would be an tether attached to rocket depending on how big the map is you could also upgrade the wire, based on speed time if you pull the wire you get yanked to the rocket (it would take awhile unless you upgraded speed) that's all for items. planets and leviathans. planets would have a sand storm leviathan kind of like from below zero and the crab snakes too the mixture a sand leviathan it would jump out of the planet an grab you trying to pull to the core and melt you they would jump from planet to planet in the world. Leviathans: The worm, the worm would wander through space looking for the survivor. It is hostile but it wanders deep in space there are also shrouds these are a small peeper sized friendly fish that can be eaten, cooking it will give you food when you get near it it will scream for sand leviathans to protect it (its kind of like the king of sand leviathans) there are also (Myeens which are basically bladder fish.) Now there's nothing else that's all for now, the goal is to fix the ship and escape that's my idea hope you like it!

Time line idea Genesis Crushing depth New world Crushing depth has the option to be set up like a massive maze. Imagine going into a dark level with a flash light in a what seems to be an infinite void. It can make new creatures by saying they evolved differently Genesis has the least amount of change options present but can change creatures to some that live with the disease(immune naturally) that dominate other creatures And new world idea has limitless potential

So cool concepts! I think subnautica crush depth would be better for players who are new to subnautica and would be really cool but i also think subnautica genisis would be a good ending for subnautica and as a person who played subnautica and subnautica below zero i think subnautica genisis would be a better ending and a better game. I also dont think multiplayer would fit to the subnautica style of being alone. I hope the devs of subnautica see your video and i hope they take take some inspiration. And as always nice video.

i love the first concept but i think the ending chase should be a cutscene because playing it wouldnt be as fun as watching the cutscene

Man I absolutely NEED Subnautica: Genesis, it sounds so cool! And however they make the third game, they have to include Al-An’s storyline, I need to see the rest of that. And maybe Riley from the first game appears? I think that would be cool

HOLY CRAP: I love the idea of the Intelligent Leviathan, Mocking you, and telling you it left YOU alive to pretty much "Play" with you, I LOVE IT!! As soon as I heard "Antibiotic Resistance" I audibly went "Oh No" I had not even thought that something like that could happen, Clever, Clever! I LOVE CRUSH DEPTH LOVE GENESIS! LOVE IT ALL!!

I like the idea of the next game taking place in a giant cave system. That would be terrifying, and would prey off of the feeling of isolation that we get from Subnautica. In Subnautica, you are completely alone and the only humans you get in contact with are obliterated. Everything seems so lonely in the game, and the music helps with that. If there was a game that was underwater that would be terrifying, but also feel even more isolated, being surrounded by huge creatures. I feel like that is a very unique idea, but I feel like that concept would be more fitting for a DLC, or smaller game like below zero, as it doesn't add much to the Khara storyline, or tell us anything about the other characters. The Genesis idea I also like and I feel like is more what is expected out of the next game. It would wrap up the Khara storyline, tell us what happened to the precursors, Robin, and what the Khara is. It hopefully would include more information about what earth, or wherever humans live, looks like, and how civilization is being run. Is it a sci-fi dystopian world? Are humans colonizing planets all over the galaxy? Are there other alien races the humans are in contact with? And hopefully we would also get information about Altera too. I feel like there was a lot of potential for info about Altera in below zero. Maybe they would have been corrupt, or were not really worried about what was happening, or were willing to use Khara for their own purposes, or maybe they are trying to help you. We were slightly able to contact Altera 4546B in Subnautica, and in Below zero Altera is literally doing research on the planet. Who knows, maybe we will be able to talk to them on the Khara planet. This might at least make Subnautica not seem as lonely. Then again, maybe there will be something blocking communication to make us feel even more isolated. I like the concept for the 3rd idea. Maybe it could simply take place after all the Khara stuff is over. I feel like a multiplayer Subnautica game would be pretty fun, but if it doesn't fit with the story is could just be after the story is resolved. Finally I strongly feel like there should be more vehicles. The atlas would be cool, maybe some submarine that is really fast, maybe one that is meant for getting resources like the prawn but a Submarine, heck, maybe even a SPEEDBOAT OF SOME KIND!!! Subnautica is a great game, and I am exited for what comes next. If anybody read this far I am sorry for writing this 445 word essay on Subnautica. 🌊🐟

Agreed. Maybe for the 3rd idea there would be more islands and there would be a car of some kind that you could store on the boat to transport it, or something like that.

Honestly once had an idea kinda like your crush depth idea in that it's set in the depths of the ocean but instead of having it focused on a cave system you start the game in one of those giant starships that crashed/got shot down and had to make your way around a ship that's full of blocked corridors, broken equipment and flooded/ing areas trying to get the blueprints and items together first to freely navigate the flooded areas of the ship and then using the access that gives acquire the stuff required to navigate the ocean around the ship that would crush you with pressure if you attempted to leave the ship without it. All while also dealing with curious wildlife that's been drawn into the ship by the flooding water/curiosity, starting off with smaller creatures as they're the only ones small enough to navigate the wreckage but as the player explores further bigger and bigger creatures are run into stalking the more flooded corridors and rooms. One of the big scenes I'd thought of for it is basically entering a windowed gallery (maybe the bridge, as it'd give the player a need to come back here later on once they can move around outside the ship without being crushed) you turn on the lights and look out into the void to see what looks like a small fish/creature but something is wrong, its growing in size by the second until you realise its an absolutely enormous leviathan that only barely misses ramming into the ship. But not all is well for you hear the sound of cracking glass. The pressure wave caused by its passage is too much and now you need to run out of the room before the glass shatters and unleashes a massive wall of water that will kill the player if it impacts. The end game would basically be making your way back to the surface despite the crushing depths and the interest of numerous leviathans capable of easily swallowing even the largest submersible the player can create. Another possibility is that the ship came down near a hive of crustaceans with a society akin to that of ants or termites of earth and the impact has made them angry as more and more of them appear on the vessel overtime investigating the intruder to their nest. Maybe the player has to build sonar devices to push them back through sheer annoyance or bombs to collapse the tunnels the ship has breached or find a way to close the blastdoors on the hangar that they're using as their main ingress route into the ship (maybe those who try to crawl around on the outside get picked off by natural predators also attracted to the ship and the breach into their tunnels)

Subnautica: Crush Depth sounds like an incredible horror game. Capitalizing on everything good from the first game and adding more sounds like an experience that would cause shivers just loading in to.

I think subnautica: crush depth would be a great 3rd installment in the series, and genesis could be like a dlc for subnautica below zero as it's more of a continuation of an older story rather than a new story with the same background.

Honestly, I think you can combine large parts of your ideas together. - Planet: Architects Homeworld - Player Character: Researcher part of a team (stumbled on it by accident - yeah yeah I know, extremely low chance but come on, everything has a dues ex machina lol), player would be completely customisable with two distinct voices to choose from, one male and one female, neither are cannon. The player themselves is cannon. - Robin Ayou & AL-AN: Assists the player. - Gigantic Leviathan sending a signal: Main antagonist - Khara Virus mutations: Propagated by the sentient leviathan - Cave system: Simply part of a gigantic world for the player and friends to explore. - Alterra encounter: Secret expedition already made it to the homeworld first but was destroyed by the creatures in the deep, went undetected due to the architects battling the virus and recovering, systems and network not functioning correctly. You find out what happened to the secret team and why and how they found it to begin with. - Potential for both land and sea combat, limited to none lethal of course as the developers are very insistent that there be no guns or anything of the sort for the player to use. - New base designs, can use normal human, architect or hybrid designs. - Triple the amount of leviathans, both friendly and aggressive - Double the amount of biomes that were available from Subnautica 1 and below zero. - Leviathans can be found on land as well as in the ocean. - Resources are plentiful but death is much more common. - Dark and creepier atmosphere in a lot more places, but plenty of safe areas to give the player relief. - ALL vehicles available including hybrid designs at end game. I think its more than doable. It just depends how the writers would tether it all together.

There could be a combination of all three, like horror the deeper you go into the ocean in genesis and have multi-player since genesis is basically the new world idea just with story from the other 2 games. I really love your ideas and channel also! Keep up the amazing work!

Crush Depth and Genesis are amazing ideas. I would definitely play both. It would be interesting to have a back story game for Marguerite Maeda after her survival against the reaper that destroyed their base in the first Subnautica. Maybe the journey she made between where the first one takes place and where she ended up in below zero. Different biomes and creatures and how she survived the karaah virus.
